Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesOnly one shower upstairs. Really not a big deal. Just didn't want to wake up the people upstairs.
This is the oldest house in Rif. Cute inside. It used to be a café. Kitchen has lots of pots and pans and dishes for cooking in. Common area has large dining room and living room. There are 2 toilets. One on each floor

United StatesRoom was extremely small. There was just enough floor space to fit our luggage and backpacks. Had to open one bag at a tine to take things out. Little space to hang wet things. Stuffy in room so slept with door ajar to let airflow. Kitchen equipment and utensils plus furnishings in common area was an eclectic mix. Stairs are steep to go upstairs especially with luggage.
Quiet neighborhood. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and shower had good water pressure. Located close to the national park and lighthouse.

United KingdomOnly one showed and two toilets between five rooms (ten guests). Make sure you have all the food required as no facilities in Rif - nearest store is in Olafsvik.
My second visit here. Lovely secluded location in historic building. Communal living room, light airy rooms, kitchen with fridge, hob, oven, coffee percolator and kettle (but no microwave). So peaceful at night and surrounded by the tern colony. Key box for entry so no worries about time of arrival.

United KingdomThe room has clearly been converted from single to double, as it just fits a double bed with maybe 20cm left until the wall (and the keyring still says single). So the room itself was quite crammed especially compared to the other rooms on the same floor. But, luckily we had few things and we fit there nicely.
A spacious house in Rif with clear self check in instructions sent and further information around the house. Sizeable lounge and dining area and kitchen with all essentials available, including 2 fridges. A bathroom and separate toilet, and the bed itself was lovely and comfortable. Even a chest of drawers there for storage, and lush towels provided. We were first ones in the house and I think only half the rooms were occupied so no issues with sharing facilities. Good WiFi that extended to most of the building.

FinlandThe room was too small for two people. Opening only one suitcase left us with basically no empty floor space. The sea view was mostly a parking lot with a small sliver of sea showing in the corner. That being said, I got a peek in other rooms after other guests had left, and all the other rooms looked much better than ours.
Good value-for-money. The shared facilities were good.

United StatesThe common area is spacious, with a bathroom on both the upper and lower floors, but only the upstairs one has a shower. While eating in the dining room, you can look out the window directly onto the beach, which lifts your mood.

United StatesOnly one shower and 2 toilets. The steps up to the shower are very narrow and need care when taking them.
Clean place that we had to ourselves (off-season). Easy check-in Decent kitchen and lots of seating (though I expect it gets crowded).

ItalyThe floor of our room was a bit dirty and dusty. The doors of the shower didn’t close well, fortunately we didn’t wet the floor. In addition, there weren’t many places where to put towels, bathrobes and clothes since there was no wardrobe.
The guesthouse has a self-service check-in and out and it was very convenient. The room was small, like most rooms in Iceland, was heated and they provided us towels and sheets. We shared the bathroom with other guests but they were nice and we didn’t have any problem. The bathroom was quite big. We stayed there one night and overall it was a nice experience. From the window of our room we were able to see the northern lights!

United StatesRoom we had (on main floor) was quite cramped- only space for 2 beds and a small set of drawers we could put 1 suitcase on. Rest of our things had to be on the floor and we had to carefully navigate the room. One shower and 2 toilets between 5 rooms could be problematic in some situations. We didn’t have a problem accessing the toilet on our floor and we chose to shower midday so didn’t have any competition. Nearest restaurants are 10 min away. this was clear on the website- not a surprise- but would have been nice to have something in town.
Check in process went smoothly, bed was comfortable. Location was convenient for national park and hostel was located in a very small peaceful town. Our room had partial view of the coast. We didn’t have any issues with noise. We didn’t have any issues with availability of bathrooms.

ItalyThe place could have been cleaner and one kitchen and one shower is insufficient when the house is full. We had to wait quite a long time for our turn to cook
