How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIncredible. Just book it! Very cozy, would recommend to anyone. There is a gas grill outside under a roof with gas fireplace and an outside heater, very easy to cook your hotdogs in any weather!
You have to go outside for the toilet and shower. Toilet is warm, but shower has no roof. But it's an experience.

Verified reviewMy sister and I loved it. So comfortable and cozy. We would have loved to stay more than just one night.
The location is a little hard to find if you do not know where you are going. Just turn at the waterfall and keep going after the road stops being paved.

It was just a little bit cold during the night but nothing crazy.

This would be enjoyed more in winter as it was extremely difficult to sleep due to lack of block out curtains/blinds . Outdoor shower would be interesting in the winter .

Verified reviewIt’s right next to the most amazing waterfall hikes and the dc-3 plane crash. The dome is so cozy. And Javier was a delight. Loved every minute we were there.
The only thing that I think is critical is a way to block out the light and a privacy drape on the door. We luckily had eye covers but in the long June light we needed a little help with the sun and the privacy.

Although I already knew it, the shower being completely outside was a challenge, considering the weather conditions

Verified reviewThe staff were wonderful, incredibly friendly and attentive. The location of the dome was great - we had stunning views of northern lights both nights we stayed - and amazing views from the bed when we woke up. The heaters keep you warm inside despite the cold outside.
The dome can be quite noisy, it's location is quite exposed for the view, so the wind howls through the night, to the extent I woke up feeling the bed shaking when the wind was strongest. The toilet room, though separate is kept warm, however the shower is outside in the cold, and though the water is warm, taking a shower is a pretty unpleasant experience. (the hosts did offer their shower down at the main house as an alternative - still a walk through the cold). There's also no running water inside, so washing dishes and getting drinking water is also a trip outside. A large stain on the clear portion of the tent obscures about 20% of the view.
Thank you for your thoughtful review. I appreciate your balanced feedback highlighting both the positives and areas for improvement. You've captured the essence of why we positioned our dome in this specific location - it truly is a strategic spot for Aurora viewing! Being nestled between three glaciers creates a unique microclimate that often clears clouds locally, offering exceptional Northern Lights opportunities. I'm thrilled you experienced stunning auroras on both nights and enjoyed those magical morning views. You make a fair point about the wind noise. The dome's design inherently allows you to connect with nature's elements, including its sounds. While we've installed windbreaks and planted the thickest forest possible by Icelandic standards, strong Icelandic winds can certainly make their presence known! This is actually part of the natural trade-off in this area - the same glacial winds that clear our skies for perfect aurora viewing are the ones you'll hear at night. Unfortunately, you simply can't have crystal clear skies without these winds in our location. Regarding the stain on the clear portion - you're absolutely right. The intense southern exposure in our unusually sunny microclimate has caused some damage to the plastic. We're already arranging repairs and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. About the outdoor shower - we intentionally designed this as part of the unique nature experience, allowing guests to shower under the open sky (sometimes even under the Northern Lights!). However, we understand it's not everyone's cup of tea, especially during colder weather, and we're considering potential modifications based on guest feedback. I must admit I'm a bit puzzled by the 7.5 rating for location when you mentioned experiencing stunning Northern Lights both nights - exactly what most guests come hoping to see! Perhaps next time a city hotel might be more comfortable for those seeking shelter from Iceland's natural elements, though they typically come with considerably less impressive aurora views. 😉 Thank you again for your valuable feedback and for highlighting our staff's attentiveness. Your insights help us enhance the experience for future guests while maintaining the extraordinary aurora viewing opportunities that make this location special.

Verified reviewThe Dome was well equipped with all you needed - but outdoor lighting didn't work, which took a bit of the coziness away from the dinner we planned outside. The outdoor shower was warm but with freezing wind it could be better wind proofed.

Verified reviewI expected a lot of this accommodation, but in the end, it failed to succeed fully. The location is nice, the dome is interesting, heated toilet, nice, and you got all you need for your stay, but not on needed level... The outside area is nice, the outdoor setting looks good but it was too cold for usage Also, the housekeeping crew (Javier, if not wrong) is amazing!
Super cold, even with all heating on... also, heating gas stove creating lot of gas smell which stays in the room. Even when you use it on 1 of 3 setting. Door cannot be fully closed, also cannot be normally open as they scrape the floor so you need to push hard and with lot of noise... All the amenities provided are a bit cluttered.

We happened to stay when it was very stormy and genuinely thought we were going to blow away. There is no over head covering when in the shower so the water which didn’t stay warm for very long was blowing all o er the place whilst trying to shower
