Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaNo washing machine, but Eva offered to wash for us, this is no a problem then.
This is one of the best guesthouses in my trip to Iceland and Norway. The house owner Eva is an artist, she has very gods feeling of how to make house comfortable. The house is decorated with some of her collection and her paintings. The house surrounding is very nice, like a beautiful farm, her and chickens running on green grassland. Flowers are blooming on the way to the house. We really love everything here. We enjoyed so much there. Eva is very helpful as well, she helps me fixed my hat. If we come back again, we will definitely book her guesthouse and I would also recommend her house to my friends.

A converted old farmhouse, clean and comfy. We came inside to a great cake baked by our host. We all enjoyed an evening conversation and breakfast was incredible in the morning. You can see Dyrholaey lighthouse on the top of the mountain.

United StatesI wish we could have stayed for a week at least. Unfortunately we only had one night. It was amazing to stay here, though.
We were completely blown away with how easy and comfortable the house was to enter and stay in. We finally saw the northern lights for the first time right outside. Breakfast was amazing and our host was terrific. Coal the dog was exactly what we needed since we have missed our dog for a week. 10☆ review

we had 2 amazing days at the beautiful guesthouse. Although we were only there for the sleep, we felt heartly welcoming. The house is very clean and you have your own privacy, with your own bathroom. The breakfast was overwhelming and more than delicious. homemade bread, homemade jams, homemade cake and fresh salmon. Everything tasted good and gave us enough power for the day. I really recommend this guesthouse and I am sure you will love it!

PhilippinesThere is absolutely NOTHING we disliked about the guesthouse—every aspect exceeded our expectations. From the warm hospitality to the charming decor and delightful amenities, our experience was flawless.
Exceptional stay! Truly a home away from home—we could have stayed indefinitely, experiencing two nights of pure magic. On our first night, the aurora borealis treated us to an awe-inspiring spectacle, a breathtaking dance of pink and green exploding in the sky, visible to the naked eye. Breakfast, lovingly prepared by Eva (our favorite Icelander!), was an unforgettable feast. From freshly baked homemade bread to mouthwatering pancakes, smoked lamb, an array of jams, fresh juices, cheeses, coffee, skyr, and more—the spread was perfect! Connie, Eva's Icelandic sheepdog, greeted us at the door every morning, making us feel like he was our own dog. Warm, playful, and a wonderful guide around the property. Our room's private bathroom was impeccable, complete with shampoo, conditioner, and soap. The warm and cold water for the shower, along with the delicious tap water, added to the comforts. Dyrholaey lighthouse and Vik were conveniently close. Eva's daily cake offerings were a delightful surprise, consistently delicious on both days. Tea and coffee were always available, rounding out the overall fantastic experience. Best of all, the accommodation is easy to find. Eva went above and beyond by volunteering to wash our clothes when we needed a washing machine, which the property didn't have. She graciously used her personal washing machine at her house, showcasing her exceptional hospitality. Additionally, the decors and the overall house exuded warmth and were well-designed, adorned with trinkets, interesting paintings, and pictures. Games for guests to use and well-maintained common areas added to the charm. We even had the pleasure of chatting with other guests on the second morning. We loved every aspect of our stay and highly recommend it!

ItalyI think it is impossible to find anything bad about this place.
Everything is amazing! From the room, to the shared spaces, to the outside. Simply stunning. The owner is super friendly, kind and very attentive. She made the most amazing breakfast with lots of homemade products or fresh from the farm. Amazing location as well, super comfy beds, fantastic shower and I can keep going. The price is really competitive for the area, I think, especially for the service you get. 10/10 worth it! Thank you!!! I’ll keep saved this place for future trips! P.s. super friendly and fluffy dog always waiting to greet new guests!

United StatesNothing to say, it was perfect!
We absolutely loved our stay at Grand Guesthouse Gardakot. - it does not get better than this! The working farm location by the sea with mountains in the distance is gorgeous. When we arrived, a fresh baked apple cake greeted us on the dining room table. The house and our room were spotless, cozy, and we enjoyed meeting other lovely guests. Breakfasts were a feast, with fresh baked rolls, pancakes, homemade jams, salted/smoked salmon caught by Eva's husband, cured meat from their farm, juice and great coffee. The view from our room was beautiful, walking around Eva's farm with her friendly dog was fun, and it's conveniently located 10 minutes drive from Vik and local sights, shops and restaurants. Eva also has a shop with her own crafts. If you are lucky enough to have found this place, don't hesitate - book your stay! You'll be glad you did. It's a patch of heaven on earth.
