Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GreeceThere wasn't something that we particularly didn't like. Maybe we would like a bit earlier check in but OK, we could still leave our luggage early enough.. I guess all hotels are like this nowadays.
The location is spot on to explore Reykjavik. Not very far from the main bus station either, if you want to use the bus for your commute to the airport. Also ,there is a parking space (not the property's but you can use to load/unload your campervan. The house was very cute and warm , the room was spacious and welcoming. Also nice kitchen space and warm bathroom .

AustraliaSmall shared bathroom didn’t have soap and shampoo. Small shared kitchen didn’t have any cooking top, only microwave, electrical kettle, and toaster. It did have many plates, bowls, cups and glasses, though. Attic room has roof beams just over the bed, so you tend to bump your head with the beams.
Comfortable beds. Central location. Easy check in method.

United StatesThe little sink on the wall of our room was nice to have but the little shelf above it limited it's use. The shells should be moved to the side. The biggest and only complaint was that the shower was either just warm at best or my several minutes of fiddling didn't do that magic thing to make it hotter whatever that was.
Very charming rooms on an amazing location. We really appreciate the little things like coffee in the morning, the airport shuttle if needed and the well decorated rooms.

United StatesThe parking instructions were a little vague for someone that doesn't live in Reykjavik or even Iceland. I really didn't know what they even meant. When I ask the host for more details they sent me the check-in instructions again that they had already sent me. Not everyone knows the parking system of Reykjavik. The waitress at a restaurant I ate at told me about the Parka app and explained the parking system downtown and that overnight was free. That should definitely be something that is mentioned in the check-in instructions or in a welcome book in the unit. I also wasn't sure how to use the coffee pot and there were no instructions for that either. As a host myself it's important to understand that guests sometimes are not from the same country and things are different so instructions are pretty important especially when your car may be towed or for someone that loves coffee.
The location was great and the facilities were very clean. I had everything I needed.

United StatesMy room was very small with barely enough room to move around. However the adjoining kitchen and bathroom gave a sense of more space.
Gettir is perfectly situated and at night it is quiet in spite of being on the main drag. It is an easy walk to bus stop 6 at the Culture House. Bathroom sharing was no problem with only one other room.

United StatesMy room’s only window faced a parking lot where people and drivers can see you in your room if you don’t put the shade down. One driver faced my window and luckily I had the shade down. His car felt like it was only 2 meters away. Also, it would have been nice to have a blackout curtain because the shade still let light on around the sides.
Convenience. It is in the main shopping area. It was a good deal compared to the prices of many other hotels nearby.

PhilippinesIt was a bit noisy at times, as I could hear people talking and walking outside.
The location is very convenient—shops, restaurants, and cafés are all within walking distance. What I liked most was being able to leave my luggage in the common area after checking out, since I still had places to go.

IcelandThe bed was very hard and the pillows flat, making it quite uncomfortable for someone with back and joint pain. The building is also old so sound proofing was poor, we could hear everyone coming in and out the front and walking around above us.
Location is right in the middle of the downtown area, food, pubs, shopping, etc. Room was very clean and quaint. Entry and self check in were very easy.

AustraliaGrettir Guesthouse is in a great location near the old town and shopping street. The beds were comfortable and our attic room was a good size and nicely decorated. It is a traditional type corrugated iron house which has been split into two areas to stay in. We stayed in the upper section which had 5 rooms (two of these rooms are upstairs in attic area - which can be tricky if you wanted to access toilet at night). The kitchen / dining area is small, seating only 4 people. The kitchen does not have a stovetop or oven but there is a microwave. The one combined shower/ toilet is shared between all rooms. There is no parking available but you can temporarily park at park of house to remove luggage from car and then park car on street a few blocks away ( out of P paid area) or else pay for parking.
