How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We didn't have self check out instructions when we got there and we were very tired, so it was confusing. Parking was difficult. It would have been nice to know that we had to climb the stairs as I have knee issues and other visitors may have more serious mobility issues. There were only European outlets, which we weren't aware of until we arrived, so I ended up staying in our vehicle to charge a phone so we could wake up in the morning.

Few monitor issues: some of the blinds would not close, keeping one of the bedrooms fairly bright all night. The carafe for the coffee maker was too small so it wasn’t really possible to make coffee. Or we just couldn’t figure out the trick. One of the bedrooms had a fairly strong sewer odor that we thought may had been coming from the sink but not entirely sure. The trundle mattress under the couch was fairly stained and gross. It was also extremely small so not really functional as a bed excepts for a small child. The main bathroom’s toilet flush mechanism was detached from the wall, making it seem like it might break completely each time it was flushed.

Verified reviewIt was easy to get there with parking on the street. The host was very responsive and friendly.
The internet was not working on site and was hard to access and reboot. The curtains were not fully blacked out, and was hard to sleep. I would recommend adding blackout curtains to cover the brightness a bit better.

We spent 1/2 hour before we could get in touch with anyone to get the door code. phone calls not answered. Sent many emails before finally getting an answer, which is terrible!

Verified reviewLocation Host support when there was a problem. The bed from the Penthouse Apartment was confortable.
We booked an apartment for 8 and we did not have enough forks for all of us. We had a problem with the sofabed. It was not working. Although the host provided support and a solution when I shared the problem, we had to manage to sleep 1 night without the sofa bed working. The bunk bed was not very comfortable. The stove hood had some grease on it.

Upon arrival, it wasn't really clear where the keys were located. Proceeding to our 3rd night when the heat suddenly wasn't working anymore, we slept without heat for almost 3 days (you can imagine how cold that is), they did not show interest to come and fix the heating. Furthermore, the maintenance person, came unannounced into our apartment while we were asleep to address one of the issues. When they came back later when we were awake, she was very rude to us, and told us that they can basically enter the apartment whenever they want. That under no circumstance is acceptable. The final straw for us was the fire alarm going off in our apartment, on the 4th night, it proceeded for 2 and a half hours, when finally they showed up to turn it off. Afterwards there was a loud beep that proceeded for another couple of hours. This was the final straw for us, we got online and booked another property for our final 2 nights. We did speak to someone who promised that they would refund us, we did receive a refund, not even 1/3 of what we paid, which in our opinion is not correct (to say the least), for everything they put us through those couple of days! I would not book this host ever again, and wouldn't recommend them! (We have proof of all of this).

Backyard apartment looks nothing like photos on bookings.com. Very over priced for what it is. Bad smells coming from drain in middle bathroom. (Reported on day 1 , nothing done by owner ). Toaster and microwave not working (Reported on day 1 , nothing done by owner ). All Bedrooms, bar front one, have no windows, it is like being in a cave!!!! Doors missing from kitchen cupboards. bedroom pillows sweat stained and filthy. Bathrooms so small, you have to shimmy past doors , then close door, to be able to access toilet or shower. Showers very run down. Cigarette burns in one. Mould in other. Be careful if you are booking the backyard apartment, it looks nothing like main photos on bookings.com We were travelling with other families and their apartments/houses were 1000% better and half the price. We feel very ripped off and will be demanding compensation from booking.com , see photos below.

Verified reviewThe location was great. Beds were good. The 4 bedroom apartment has 2 bathrooms and a laundry machine. Staff was quick to respond to messages about a missing baby cot and it was resolved within an hour.
The apartment needs some maintenance, the kitchen cabinets and drawers are all about to fall apart. The microwave didn't really work and for the stove it didn't have the pans we'd need. There's no real living area in the big apartment, so you can only sit at the dining table. The bedrooms are pretty stuffy, they have a window in the ceiling but it is quite a hassle to open.
