Reviews of Helgafell Hostel

Nice hostel close to the beach. We arrived late and left early, but it seemed cozy enough to hang around. Super spacious kitchen, so even when crowded, no one was in each other's way. It had everything you might need - except breakfast bowls

Bathroom and restroom together, so all the time occupied. Not enough toilette paper

Good location, big shared kitchen. Only few people were there.

Bathroom is fine. If you arrive late it is hard to cook due to silent hours.

The town and location.

Poorly kept, lots of stuff didn’t work, the sink in the room leaked, the bedside lamps were broken. The shower room/toilet was not nice at all. Wi-Fi was very poor.

The bathroom floor becomes very wet after used by other guests.

location in the middle of nature is incredible you can watch rare birds right out of your window. nice hikes starting from the door. very comfortable beds. large shared area.

Clean rooms. Well equipped kitchen. Nice and comfortable common areas.

Only 2 toilets are there. There was big queue for using toilets and bath in the morning.

+ Good parking for the guests; + A lot of instructions for check-in with all the important information; + The hostel has its kitchen accessible for the guests, but the owners also informed about the possibility of having dinner and booking breakfast (it was delicious) in the partner hotel.

Centralized location, close to restaurants and basic amenities. Great wifi connectivity. Full kitchen and rooms with privacy.

Fuse ball was missing, and we were disappointed as we really wanted to play.

Spacious common area, clean toilets. When we were there, there were only 2 other rooms occupied so we basically had the place to ourselves.

Doors were a little tough to open, we struggled with it for awhile with no staff to ask help from. If place is fully booked, toilets to room ratio is not good. Room for five was quite a squeeze as well

Large very noisy group arrived at 10pm, started cooking dinner at 11pm and were very very disruptive. Bathrooms were quickly extremely dirty, this was our worst night in Iceland. We called the main lodge to alert them but there is no staff on site to monitor this kind of disruption- ruined the night

Everything is brand new (even accessories), big and comfy.

Bathroom weren’t really clean

For a hostel it is very clean. Kitchen has everything you need, even a dishwasher. Common area also very nice. Bathrooms have to be shared, but in the right wing you have 3 of them. As there is a sink in each room this is quite comfy. We did have to queue. Only stayed there for a day. Price is unbeatable in this area.

Every hostel is as good as its guests. Unfortunately, we had two very noisy families who arrived after 10 pm and started cooking, even though it is stated everywhere that this is not allowed. On top they caused a fire alarm with their cooking. Not to mention that they showered at midnight and flooded the bathroom. It is a pity. But I now understand why in former days the showers and kitchens were closed by key. This is not the fault of the hostel, but perhaps they could prevent such behavior by stricter rules.

good games and the kitchen was nice, big and clean. Overall, good place to stay.

i wish we could watch and play after hours as well.

This just checks all the boxes. Reasonably clean, nice spacious common area and kitchen. Place to dry shoes and clothes.
