Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaFirst thing was that the gps through google maps, kept taking us to the hotel north laneway. There is no clear signage so we were left driving around for at least 20 extra minutes. Once we did find the right lane we were intimated with driving through a literal field that has basic ruts as the path because we thought we missed the actual drive way. So be aware that this is rustic lane and at times deeply rutted so caution with your vehicle bottoming out. The directions could include lane is at the green shipping container. 2nd, the wood is very quick burning which is great for maybe getting a fire started and safety but that doesn’t last for the night when temps were very cold. The inside was very cold at about 3 hours in to the point it kept waking us up because our face and hands were coldl.
Very cute place and a unique experience. It was clean and well equipped for a basic stay. Everything was clean including the washrooms. There was really nice bedding that kept us warm all night. Excellent communication.

DenmarkNot enough cutlery (1 fork and 3 knives for a booking for 4 persons). The BBQ (and the utensils) needed SERIOUS cleaning, but it really should be replaced and levelled when it's installed so less time is spent chasing sausages rolling downhill to the back of the grille. The listening mentioned board games and playing cards, which would have been nice to keep us busy due to the rain... The one dice game that was in the room didn't keep us busy for very long.
The location and the resulting silence was great! Dried firewood for the stove in the yurt was appreciated. The breakfast was also good.

United StatesNot really dislikes, but the hiking treck uphill was a bit long. When I booked 2-3 months ago, I didn't realize it would be a mini hike without a well-worn trail. One son and I transferred what we needed from our suitcases and to our backpacks, but the other two kids decided to drag their luggage. Perhaps parking could be made available at the place next door for a shorter treck. Totally get not wanting cars by the yurts, though; that would be distracting both by sight and sound and would take away from the beauty. Also recommend having some local pool instructions. I was embarrassed when I realized I walked into the shower room with my shoes still on, and we did not know to put towels in the cubbies so we wouldn't walk into the locker area wet after our soaks. Then, we did not know what to do with the towels after, which was take them back to the yurt parking location. We would have used the towels we brought with us if we had realized that we would need to double back to the yurt instead of driving straight into town.
The location was beautiful and the yurt was super cool. Enjoyed spending the time at local pool for a shower, soak, and shower the next morning.

United StatesFrom where you parked your car, there was a 5-7 minute walk uphill. We had planned for this as we read the message that the host sent us ahead of time. We packed only the items we needed for the night.
The yurt was an exceptional experience that everyone enjoyed. Our host was very responsive and helpful. It comes with an entry fee to the local pool. The Icelandic people enjoy this experience sometimes daily. Our breakfast was available to us whenever we wanted. There was everything needed to make a fire, which we enjoyed.

United StatesIt’s a yurt in the hills, but the hike up was a lot. That’s all we “didn’t like” but it’s more because I’m a middle aged woman who needs to go to the gym more. Not the fault of the yurt owners!
The view was amazing! The yurt was well maintained and clean. It had everything you’d expect in a yurt and accommodated the 3 of us comfortably. The breakfast cooler was great and we appreciated it! We didn’t have electricity because of a trip in the breaker but we got a quick response and the issue was remediated.

CanadaNothing to complain about as we lucked out and had a gorgeous sunny evening.
Yurts we're fantastic! They are located on a hillside with an amazing view of Akureyri and the fjord. It was large enough to comfortably fit 4 people. Beds were very comfortable and comforters were plenty to keep us warm. A stove in the center of the yurt provided good heat. Breakfast was good. Bathroom was a short walk from the yurt and were clean. All in all it was a wonderful experience

United KingdomIt was so relaxing to light the fire, snuggle down and enjoy the beautiful Icelandic landscape. We watched the northern lights over the hills which were simply magical. Solla and Erwin were so kind, providing great local recommendations for dinner and being on hand for any questions we had.

United StatesUnfortunately for us, we landed in the middle of a windstorm which blew a portion of our roof off, so that was adventurous, but the owners quickly came and fixed it.
Very thoughtful to include breakfast. It was wholesome and healthy.

CanadaThe instructions said it is a 5 minute walk from parking to the yurt. It was actually a 15 minute fairly steep climb uphill through long grass.
Beautiful view of mountains, valley and Akureryi from the yurt.

United StatesWe stayed 2 nights and the breakfast was great on the first day - but it would have been nice to have it refreshed for the second morning (we left the cooler outside assuming that it would be). There was only a little milk for coffee/tea for day 1, so none left for day 2. The yogurt was not quite cold on the second morning as the freezer packs had thawed. We had enough coffee for one pot each day, but would have been nice to make more. The same goes for fire starters - there was some trial and error getting the woodstove working well, and we went through more than we expected the first evening. We made do by chopping wood into kindling for the second night. I did not reach out to the owners about either of these issues because they were fairly minor and did not affect our overall enjoyment of the yurt experience.
We loved staying in the yurt! It looked exactly like the photos, and we planned on having to walk from our car to the lodging, so no problem there. Beds were comfy and the breakfast was good. Bathrooms were just a short walk down a path. We used the showers at the pool in town once, and it was a simple process to check in there. If you have mobility issues or aren't ready to "rough it" a bit, this might not be the place for you. The walk to the yurt and to/from the bathroom is grassy (sometimes wet) and up/down a very small hill. There are many good restaurants in the town of Akureryi, only a short drive away. It rained during our stay and we stayed toasty and dry.

Our stay at the Icelandic Yurt was a fantastic experience. We all enjoyed the stunning panoramic views that made every moment feel special. The location is perfect—close enough to Akureyri for quick trips to town, yet surrounded by nature, providing a peaceful and adventurous setting. The kids enjoyed the feeling of being in the great outdoors. The yurt was clean, and the hosts provided clear and easy-to-follow instructions, which made our stay stress-free. The toilet is unexpected clean for a camping experience. There is no electricity inside the yurt, but in the shared toilet we could charge our phones. I would definitely recommend Yurt in summer.

United StatesThere aren’t any showers on the property (although there is a bathrooms with flushing toilets). The night of our stay was really windy & the noise of the top cover flapping kept us up all night.
The yurt was well furnished, cozy, stocked, & was a fun experience. We loved it!

NetherlandsThere was only one sink in the toilet cabin that all four yurts had to use. This does not have to be a problem, but it might be good to inform all guests about best way to share the sink, as we had to wait quite long outside for others to leave.
The experience of sleeping in nature is very nice. The beds are comfortable and breakfast was well taken care of.

FranceIt was said that the bathroom was to be shared. What I didn't understand (nor did I find in the description) is that there were no shower at all.. just a shed with toilets and a small sink. However, the receptionist sent us to the local swimming-pool (free of charge), which the kids loved for the fun and the adults for the access to showers. In the end, it turned out to be a very funny, unexpected and very unusual experience.
The place was amazingly unusual, and the wild spot fabulous. Also, the staff was very helpful over the phone.

United StatesNo shower on the grounds. We had gone to the swimming facility that they offer for a hot shower but apparently the hours had changed and we were unable to shower.
Such a unique experience! It was warm with the fire going and the decor is super cute. They had a nice breakfast packed in a cooler for us. We had a couch, a small bed and a king size bed. We had a kettle and a few dishes as well to use. They had a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket in each yurt. The small touches didn’t go unnoticed. It is a a haul up from the car so just take up what you need to the night/morning.

NetherlandsThere was only a little sink with extremely cold water. The water heater was broken. I reported it in the evening, but it wasn't fixed in the morning. And 2 toilets which didn't close, for 2 Yurt. The breakfast was disappointing. 100 ml milk, a bag with cookies, 1 liter juice and yogurt, jam, cheese, butter, muesli , enough tea and coffee but only 2 slices of bread per person. We saw a photo on booking.com of croissants and a whole bread or skyr. So we had to go to get some more breakfast on the way to our tour, which we didn't count on.
Staying in a original Yurt by minus temperature was cosy. We slept with a legging and sweater on. In the morning it was quite cold. It becomes warm when the fire is lit quickly. My son and daughter like to chop the wood and light the fire. It was an experience But 1 night was enough.
