Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe stairs - it’s spiral and a bit narrow especially if you need to negotiate it with a heavy luggage. Seniors or those with some mobility difficulties would find the stairs very challenging.
Did not have their breakfast but coffee / tea is available for free at anytime. Location is great. It’s within walking distance to eateries, shopping, attractions and a short drive away to the Perlan Museum - a must go.

CanadaTerrible flat pillows.
Proximity to downtown. Clean and quiet despite the many rooms. Easy free parking. Complimentary coffee. Although shared bathroom, there was a sink in our double room. This is more like a hostel than a hotel, but perfect for our one night stay in Reykjavik.

United StatesDid not like laundry room was only available until 10pm (11pm would be better). Also ended up that my room was in their "annex", which was around the corner, so not in the main building.
Easy walking distance from the main bus station to the airport. You check yourself in. Waking distance to the cathedral/main tourist shopping district.

United KingdomBit of struggle from bus station over gravel etc but otherwise really excellent value for money. Area is residential on main road but short walk to centre of town.
Plain , spotless , comfy beds with good black out. Warm and large bathroom with unending hot water. Cozy kitchen with free hot drinks and tables to sit at. 10 mins walk from bus station. Staff immediately contactable and friendly. Lovely chatting to fellow travellers too.

GreeceThere were cats roaming around the 2 shared rooms, kitchen and dining room with all that this implies for hygiene issues and for people allergic to cats. The cats seemed completely familiar with the area and where we had our fork a moment ago they were walking on the shared floors. The cats seemed completely familiar with the space and where we had our fork a moment ago, they were strolling on the communal tables and chairs in the dining room and on the food preparation counters in the kitchen, something that is at least unacceptable for human hygiene conditions. The sheets and towels were old and worn but at least clean. I also didn't like the mattress.
The host is a very kind and pleasant person, once we asked him to help us solve a small problem with a local tour operator and he immediately agreed to help us and we thank him very much for that. Even though there were shared bathrooms, we did not see anything to concern us in terms of cleanliness. The water we bathed in smelled of sulfur but from what I read it is a situation that exists everywhere in Reykjavik. Relatively close to the BSI bus station and to get to the famous pedestrian streets and sights of the capital. Easy check in - check out... Especially at checkout just close the door.

United StatesI knew about the shared bathroom and it worked extremely well but I decided I am a little old for the arrangement. A clothing hook or 2 would be a convenience in the bath as there is no place to hang your towel or clothes. Everything was adequate and appropriate to the price. There is even a kitchen on each floor so people can save by eating their own food. A great budget place to stay.
I liked that they accommodated me for a second night. Something Booking never figured out. My stay was 2 nights. The room was comfortable and I had lots of coffee and tea whenever I wanted. The staff offer lots of advice via email but are only around in the morning. They let you be independent. Great location to the bus terminal and downtown. At the same time they are very friendly.

New ZealandStudio B had no kettle, not as self-contained as we expected. Whereas Studio A was much better and bigger. They seemed to be the same price. Laundry facilities not working well. Machines erroring and out of order meant we had to leave things to dry further overnight.
Good shared kitchen/dining facilities. Quiet. Convenient to leave luggage while we were away for a week. Friendly staff.

FinlandOur room was in another building than the reception and breakfast room. Not a problem for us, but maybe good to know that the guesthouse is divided in two this way.
Our first overnight stay on this trip to Iceland. Very welcoming and super nice hosts, a "public secret" 5 e breakfast for guests (coffee & toast & cereal, enough to get you going on the road), quiet room with good bed and functional bathroom en suite. Free parking very easy close by/on the streets. Short walk to Halgrimskirkja & the main street, swimming hall close by as well.

United StatesThe 'apartment' is just another (larger) room in a back-side attachment to the main building. It has its own toilet and shower, cooking table, and sink though.
It is a walking distance from downtown. The place is very quiet and peaceful. I loved the wildflower garden! They have bouquets of fresh wild flowers on tables. Very elegant.
