How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewVery cozy apartment. Host provided each detail to make staying much comfortable. It’s lovely. There are all needed facilities(amenities).Responsive host, we checked in one hour ahead.
If you travel without car, think about transportation. Maybe there is some bus stop or take taxi. Not many sockets, e.g. for charging. Some stuff not new, requires refresh, but it is not a big problem.
Thank you so much for expressing your satisfaction for staying at Lara Studio Apartment. We are so glad to know that you appreciate all the facilities and amenities that our guests may need during their travels. However, we find your complaints a bit perplexing … Lara Studio Apartment is designed to serve the diverse guests who visit Iceland and our designers thought particularly about the needs of remote workers. So to address “not many sockets, i.e. for charging” we can tell you that there are 4 by the bed + another 4 by the desk – then another 7 on the kitchen area + an extension cable in one of the drawers under the TV. Total 15 sockets on the wall + the extra cable with 5 sockets. All in all 20 sockets in a 25 sqm apartment. Your comment: “Some stuff not new, requires refresh” we unfortunately fail to understand, since all the furniture are from 2023 and since then the oak parquet floor was changed last April 2025 and Lara Studio Apartment painted. Yes – there is one statement furniture in the apartment – the Rococo sofa – it´s not “new” – it´s Antique – however the fluffy and comfy pillows in the sofa are new. Regarding transportation, Lara Studio Apartment is particularly centrally located in the 104 area, with the nearest bus stop 50 mtrs from the house – 2 others few minutes walk away. In the light of your overall happiness with Lara Studio Apartment it would be our pleasure to host you again any time. Even though this place had all the facilities, they seemed to have changed a car shed into a classy apartment, and the ceiling height is very low it's kind of very disturbing for us

We really thank you for appreciating all the facilities provided for our guests and you describe it so well as many of our customers who find it not only classy, however warm and welcoming as a home away from home. We are indeed located in a historical part of Reykjavík, in a building from 1948, that has undergone a thorough renovation the last years. The house itself has an interesting story, since it was built by an artisan furniture makers, this local was actually the artisan atelier. The wide double door is a witness of the artistic activity from that era, however it has occasionally happened that people have mistaken it as a garage. Our designers have transformed this former artisan atelier to with outmost care to preserve the style of the building. The craftsmanship can be seen in the details of the 2 big bright windows. We have a kitchen where you can cook your meals, a dining table, a designated desk, very much appreciated by remote workers and last but not least the compact bathroom with shower and a 7 kg. washing machine. Here in Iceland we are so lucky to have natural geothermal heating in our houses and here in Lara Studio Apartment we have both heating in the floor, which is brand new oak, as well as the radiators under the windows. Again we thank you so much for appreciating our efforts in making Lara Studio apartment a classy choice for travelers who like the homely feeling and tranquility in the center of 104 Reykjavík. Verified reviewThe apartment is only a 10min drive from the city center. There are multiple supermarkets within a 5min drive. The host wrote a welcome letter (even translated it to my native language) with some suggestions for activities. It was also accompanied with some cake from the local bakery. The apartment has everything you need for a longer holiday. Kitchen, laundry machine and all the standard stuff. Parking is easy in front of the door.
The apartment is a basement floor, so the ceiling is pretty low. This is only a problem for very tall people. While this was not a problem for me, the shower water has a bit of a sulfur smell. This is pretty standard for icelandic homes.

We are really happy to know your appreciation of having a kitchen, bathroom with a 7 kg. washing machine, not to mention the access to a Free private parking space, dedicated work station and a big smart TV Thank you for mentioning the smell of the Icelandic hot water, it´s one of nature´s wonders in the world and geothermal energy and is a natural green way of heating our houses and provide us with hot water for bathing, without using electricity to preheat it in boilers. Like the water from the hot tap, the hot springs in Iceland heat up thanks to geothermal energy. That means they can smell like sulfur, which is commonly associated with eggs or farts. Not all hot springs in the world have this smell, so it’s understandable if you are a bit taken aback the first time you encounter it. But it doesn’t mean the water is dirty! The smell comes from some of the minerals in the rocks that dissolve in the water. People seek out mineral water for its health benefits. (You will absorb some of the natural minerals through your skin!) Besides, you’ll soon get used to the smell, and you won’t even notice it after a few minutes of kicking back in the hot water. Just hang on in there, and you’ll soon be on cloud 9! The same hot water is used in all our swimming pools and yes – it´s very common for people to notice the smell. Verified reviewLara Studio was an absolutely charming place — totally my style. The room was beautifully decorated, and the bedding was so comfortable I honestly wished I could pack it in my suitcase and take it home! We were welcomed with a cake from the best bakery in Reykjavík, and there was even a note written in Polish, prepared especially for us. The owner recommended what to see and what to avoid, and also explained a few things that might be surprising for visitors — like the smell of the water, which Icelanders don’t even notice, but for us at first smelled like rotten eggs. She also shared the names of stores where we could buy groceries at reasonable prices, and recommended her favorite restaurant. I was truly impressed. And waking up to that stunning blue sky — I couldn’t have asked for anything more. If I ever go back to Iceland, I’ll definitely stay at Lara Studio again. It was absolutely wonderful, and the owner was incredibly sweet.

Verified reviewAt first, I chose a house with a washing machine because I was on a long trip and needed to do laundry. But I was pleasantly surprised to stay in such a wonderful house. The welcome cookies and a welcome letter written in Korean touched my heart. I also appreciated the thoughtful details throughout the house for the guests. It was great to stay warm and comfortable in cold Iceland. If I visit Iceland again, I would love to stay here again.
