How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBig warm room, comfortable bed, shared kitchen facilities, nice garden view.
Queue to the shared bathroom :(, it would be better if toilet was separate from the shower. No freezer, couldn't freeze ice packs :(

Verified reviewWe had rooms in the main house. But there are individual houses in the garden. Our room had a nice view on the garden. There's even a terrace with a table but the weather didn't allow. The rooms are nicely decorated and furbished. The kitchen, the bathroom and living room are shared among 4 double rooms.
The toilets are in the unique bathroom so not very convenient as it's shared among potentially up to 8 people in the house. There's only 1 table to eat and it accommodates 4-5 people max. It's also located in the living room that doesn't have much light as it's in the center of the house with rooms all around.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent for visiting nearby attractions, and the accommodation is set in a beautiful natural environment. The check-in process was straightforward, and all instructions were provided in the message we received before our arrival. When we got there, everything was neat and clean, with fresh towels and bed linens available. The well-equipped kitchen and dining area are great for preparing and enjoying meals. Overall, our stay was amazing and exceeded our expectations.

Verified reviewThe room was quite spacious with a table, big window and power outlets close to the bed. There is a small living room with a table, but there are also benches outside the house, where you can enjoy a meal when the weather is nice like it was during our stay :)
I don't remember any hangers/hooks in the bathroom, so adding one for the towel would be nice.

Verified reviewWell-located accommodation in a quiet and peaceful area, with easy access. Staff-free and convenient self check-in.
There is one bathroom shared by four rooms. A separate toilet would have been a helpful addition.

Verified reviewClose to the main road, nice view from the room, comfortable beds, table and chairs in the room, self-check in, a lot of towels at disposal.
It doesn't look as nice as it does in the photos, bathroom is a bit uncomfortable as the toilet is in the middle of the bathroom, shower doesn't have a curtain, only glas on the third of the bathtub, the window seemed broken, I couldn't close it. That is the only bathroom for 3 or 4 rooms as I recall, fortunately we didn't wait long. We didn't use the kitchen for any major meal prep so I can't tell what works and what doesn't, but it seemed fine. The room is quite small, you can't open any larger suitcase. The owner mixed up our room with someone elses but we resolved this quickly. That person turned out to be Icelandic and nice to talk to, but her talking with other guests carried on in the late night so we had to sleep with earplugs since everything they were talking about could be heard.

Verified reviewPlace was comfortable and clean with and with a nice view of the local mountain and fully fulfilled my requirement of a stop over along my driving trip around Iceland. Check in was easy with just needing to walk into and head to the correct room. They also provide tea coffee and all that, there were also some of the Icelandic jumpers to buy at a reasonable price (although still way too pricey for me).
Rooms are closed together but then again I still didn't hear any of the others guess so not really an problem in my case. There is nothing nearby so stock up before you get there.

Verified reviewIt was a great little guest house, very cozy and well out into the country. The shared spaces were comfortable and it was nice to be away from the city for a night. Akranes is one of our favorite day trips from Reykjavík and there is lots to enjoy in that small town, this is a lovely place with great beaches, an amazing light house (singing or playing an instrument in the lighthouse is amazing! be sure to try it even if you don't sing well!) This was a very cozy stop.
We decided to take the public bus to Akranes and hike out to the guest house. It is a long hike, however the road has a horse and walking path the whole route. This has nothing to do with the house as it was lovely, and it is possible to reach without a car, just a very long walk. Although a very wonderful walk too with horses who come say hi and a beach view the whole distance. Just don't walk it in winter.
