Amazing Place & Experience and will be coming back!

I only had one option for a room when I booked. I'm sure that was because it was the only one left (So happy I was able to get it). I would have done a larger room if one was available. There was a wedding party staying in most or all of the other rooms. There were a few of them that were a little full of themselves and a bit much to have around lol but that has nothing to do with this beautiful place and we had a great time :)

The location & Views of the property itself are Amazing, The Staff is INCREDIBLE - Kind, Helpful, Polite and you can tell they really love this place and care. Dinner was really great I was impressed for a smaller boutique experience. The property was clean and smelled good which is impressive considering it's on a House Ranch. The Horses were beautiful to watch as they let out and brought in etc.

    It was all good!

We loved Skálakot Manor Hotel it was an wonderful hotel in a fantastic location. Not to far from the Golden Circle but close to the many waterfalls, Vik and the Black Sand Beaches. We went to the Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach from there, which was amazing. The little spa area was lovely to relax in after a busy day, it's free for hotel guests no need to prebook unless you want it privately. We wish we'd had another day there to explore the area more, you could do lots of glacier tours from Vik and horseriding in the hotel. The dinner was delicious, great veggie options too! The staff were friendly and welcoming and the dogs were gorgeous too, thank you for a fabulous stay!

Skalakot manor was everything we’d imagined and more! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful and the accommodations were perfection. Great location, loved the hot tub and sauna on site as well as the horseback riding.

Not very comfortable beds. Shower system was broken. Poor choice for breakfast, you even have to wait 15 min for tea to be brought to your table.

    Perfect location, very cozy design.

The prices for the rooms were rather steep, and the layout of some parts of the hotel was a bit awkward.

This is a beautiful hotel with delicious food and the softest sheets we experienced in Iceland. The spa is heavenly and the horses are beautiful. The location is also excellent and the property is lovely.

There was a bit of a urine smell in the bathroom that we stayed in and it had a stronger smell as we took a shower.

The hotel is small and in the off season was wonderfully quiet. In season I can imagine the layout may feel full. But that would be true anywhere.

We drove past several inns and hotels that lacked the charm and easy comfort of Skalakot. Although a new building it felt like a family home and the staff though few in off season were so welcoming and accommodating. The spa building is lovely and clean with sauna and a nice hot pool. The masseuse is exceptionally skilled. We loved being on a horse farm where the owner family lives onsite in separate housing. The cocktails and dinners were really special, generous and beautifully prepared. Even better than Reykjavik and it was one of our reasons to stay there. People not staying at the hotel are welcome to make reservations. We would have liked to have spent more than two nights to really slip into the slow pace of the countryside. The hotel is perfectly located in the southeast with daytrips to the waterfalls, viewpoints and black sand beaches at Vik. We look forward to coming back when the fields will be green instead of covered with snow.

The rooms aren't fully soundproof if people are making noise in the hallway, but to be expected in a big old house like this.

Far and away the best place we stayed in Iceland (and we stayed in some nice places!) This gorgeous, family-run manor house was full of charm and coziness -- truly nothing anodyne about it. The staff was so lovely and the food was phenomenal. We would return to southern Iceland just to stay here again.

    Absolutely nothing.

Just an amazing hotel surrounded with beautiful nature. Spa and sauna was cozy and clean the room was beautiful with a great view. Being a smaller hotel they have a great restaurant with a great chef cudos. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a peaceful and relaxing stay with the upmost care and professionalism of the staff.

I would score this hotel as 10/10. However, the shower room was really poor. Shower curtains that stick to the body do not work. The wash basin had no space or shelves to place a wash sack / make up bag. The bathroom needs a heated towel rail. We arrived with very wet (technical) clothing and boots that were still wet by the morning as there is no heating source to dry them by. Towels and robes also didn't dry out. The room also needed a coffee machine. A 5* room should not offer just instant coffee. Sorry to be so negative but a heated towel rail, glass shower screen, shelf by wash basin and a coffee machine would make the world of difference to such an otherwise amazing hotel.

Amazing hotel, beautiful furnishings. Friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful food. We also used the stables at the hotel and went for a horse ride into the stunning mountains above. Lovely horses and great stable staff.
