How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The building exterior caused us to be somewhat nervous upon arrival. But as soon as we entered our clean and well appointed room, all concers disappeared
The room was large, clean, and newly renovated. Short walk or drive to local restaurants and stores. In a quiet area with easy and free parking.

It will be most helpful to equip the apartment with some clothes hangers, and basic cooking items like cooking oil, salt and pepper.

Very cosy apartment, good kitchen with everything you need. Bed and bathroom we're also really good and the location was pretty decent, close to everything.

The shower was cramped and part of the floor is peeling up and could injure a guest. The exterior of the hotel is in quite poor shape.
It was easy to get in, and the property was clean.

Lack of a table—there’s only a counter. The arrival was confusing: after driving for many hours and already feeling tired, I had doubts about the apartment, as I initially went to a street-facing unit with the same number as mine, which was actually inside the building. The host's message did state that the apartment was inside, but when you’re exhausted from a long trip, it’s easy to get confused. I called to say the key box code wasn’t working (because I was at the wrong door), and instead of simply clarifying, the host responded only after making a sarcastic remark: “If you had read the message, you would have seen it was the apartment inside the building.” It was an unprofessional tone and not what you'd expect from someone hosting international guests. If that’s the response to such a simple issue, I can only imagine the experience if something serious had happened during my stay. It left a very poor first impression.
Spacious room, comfortable bed, great shower and toiletries, very central location in Höfn, within walking distance of good restaurants.

Wish there’s cream and sugar for the coffee. Not everyone likes to drink black coffee. Little thing like this makes me a happy guest.

Lots of space for 4 adults. Clean and comfortable. Good cooking facilities Close to the waterfront. The external building isn’t the most attractive but internally it’s great.

The shower drain didn’t work properly. We informed the owner and the problem was partly fixed,but still to take a the shower was a bit struggle.

The shower flooded and at times the toilet did not fully flush.

The area around the place is a bit frightening. The apartment is surrounded by some industrial halls with wrecks of cars scattered at courtyards.
Relatively luxurious, spacious, well equipped apartment for a group of four. Nice and clean. Comfortable beds.

If you are going to book in summer, there are windows without proper coverage, and you get sunlight 24 hours

It was very difficult to make it dark inside the appartement, I would suggest you make sure to take a sleeping mask.
Nice quiet place close to the harbour, Beds were clean, shower was nice and hot. Cozy living space.

Odd location
The beds were comfortable and a perfect place on the ring road to stop for the night. Amazing restaurant Pakkhús made this stop incredible.

Whilst the apartment is in a kind of odd part of Hofn it was a great studio apartment. It was super clean and modern and very comfortable and warm. The pictures in the advertisement really don't do it justice. There is sufficient equipment to be self catering. Parking was right out the front. A good place to stay.
