How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewConvenient location on the Snaesfellnes Peninsula. However, there are very few restaurant/food options nearby. We didn't see anyone on checkin though a note with the keys to our room were left for us. The rooms themselves were very nice and clean and it was wonderful to look out the window to see the beautiful scenery.
Having meals onsite would have been nice given the remote location.

Verified reviewEverything! So cute. The common area had an eclectic mix of furniture. The owner was out on a horse tour and we helped ourselves to our rooms. We later saw the tour coming back and had an opportunity to meet the horses and take selfies. The owner also left some wine out for us on the counter for our after dinner drinks. We enjoyed the sauna and spa and had the place to ourselves that night. The each room had beautiful views. Perfect location either way access to some dining at Arnastapi.
There was no sign for the guesthouse so we weren’t sure if we were at the right place. Breakfast was optional and pricey. And this was the most expensive place we stayed on our 10 day tour but also very memorable.

Verified reviewLovely common space. Quiet location.
No one there when we got to rental. Typed instructions for guests. Advised to call when we got in although all info on typed instructions. It’s expensive to do international calling so this seemed a step one shouldn’t t need to do for a hotel. Didn’t call since we had the info we needed. Not one contact from owners to assure all was ok. No wine bottle opener despite bar in common area. Lost power while staff was making our breakfast so it was incomplete. But no offer to decrease the cost of the breakfast. Felt $15 pp for very basic no frills breakfast. Was a little high. Only had soft boiled eggs. No omelettes etc. no pastries. Unable to toast bread.

Verified reviewThe design is original. The hotel and the area are very quiet.
The hotel is difficult to find. There's no sign on the road and no sign on the building with the name of the hotel. The name used on Booking.com (The Holy Ram Farm-Hotel) is different from the name used at the house itself (Gröf). The hotel is priced as a 5 star hotel (I paid 298 Euros for a single room), but there are absolutely no services available in the evening. No front desk. No staff. No restaurant. No bar. You can't buy any food or drink, and the nearest town is a 30 minute drive away. There's a hot tub but it's closed. There's no information sheet. There's no information about how how to connect to WiFi (it's not obvious). It's a self check-in hotel, which can be OK in the budget segment but not in this price range. There is no glass in the bathroom if you want to drink water. The windows don't open. There are blackout curtains on the windows on the wall but there's a window on the ceiling, right above the bed, that has no blackout curtains. With 24 hours of daylight in Iceland in summer, it's like sleeping with the lights of a lamp on. There was breakfast in the lobby in the morning but once again there was nobody there and there was no information about it. I started to have breakfast than another guest told me that I was eating breakfast that she had pre-orderd. How was I supposed to know that? Giving all information is important at any hotel. Charging such high rates for a hotel with zero service is not acceptable.

Verified reviewWe loved the interior design, sauna and jacuzzi. The view was also spectacular!
The property is in the middle of nowhere so there are no shops or restaurants near by. Hotel doesn’t inform you about breakfast or dinner options, you have to ask. Service staff would bring card machine in the middle of dinner to make us pay, it felt like we had to ask for everything and were publicly told “you have to pay for the wine” - while we had no intention of not paying. There is no menu or price list so bill at the end is a surprise. Hotel is clearly catered for horse riding groups, if you are not part of the group - you feel a bit like a second hand citizen.

Verified reviewThe hosts were extremly nice and made us feel very welcome. The rooms are very nicely made and clean, there is a nice bench at the window to enjoy the nice view. The Hotel Lobby has some comfy sofas and chairs to spend some time and relax. Breakfast had everything you could wish for and was very good. We would absolutely come here again!
