For fans of the Hannah Kent novel Burial Rites and those interested in the famous Icelandic story of Agnes Magnúsdóttir this is a special place to stay -with the historical Tjorn church and yard right next door. And the beautifully developed historical site at Þrístapar with dramatic short trail and audio tour is only a short drive away. Unlike many places you stay in Iceland you’ll probably get to meet the owner, in this case the lovely Olga who is renovating this old farmhouse.

Lovely reconstructed guest house in the middle of nowhere- literally. Beautiful decoration, large kitchen to share. Mysterious surrounding - our room was with a view to a little cemetery which is related to a famous icelandic story about two executed murderers.

Finding Tjorn was a bit difficult, but we ended up using the picture as our guide. The sign on the main road was missed the first time by.

There was no breakfast included, but there was a big kitchen if you brought food. Because this site is so far away from grocery stores, it is important to plan for meals ahead of arrival. Olga was extremely helpful, and even came to allow us early check-in. We also happened to have the entire house to ourselves, which was a delight. All in all, a wonderful first night in Iceland!

The guesthouse was so cozy and thoughtfully decorated, and the kitchen very well stocked. The sunset view was beautiful. We read the book Burial Rites before visiting and it was cool to see the graves of Agnes and Fridrik, the last to be publicly executed in Iceland. Olga was very friendly and gave us more information about places to visit in the area. Was one of my favorite places we stayed at during our trip!

We LOVED everything. The host, the house, the coziness, the position in front of the ocean, we could see an amazing show of northern nights. Olga, the host, is incredibly kind and nice; we had a last minute change of plans because of the weather and our northern lights chase and despite of the very short notice of our request she was so flexible and accommodating. The house is amazingly decorated, you really feel like home and honestly if we wouldn’t have had so less time during our trip, we would have loved to relax there some more days. Absolutely recommended!! 🩷

One of the best place, peaceful and cozy, far from civilization. Comfortable rooms. Lovely kitchen equipped with basic staff - tea, coffee , milk, salt, sugar, spices …. You may buy farmer eggs for your breakfast. Very kind owner.

Stunning place with an amazing view of the sea, close to the seal watching area (worth a visit!). The house is stunning and the bathroom is very big, we loved it!

The road to get there was awful, not because of it being gravel, but because it had so much dust the car was completely covered in mud and dust upon arrival. Not the properties fault at all, just so guests know. Luckily in the nearest village the local gas station offers free high pressure water hoses to easily clean up the car. :)

The guest house is situated in an idyllic remote cliff with beautiful sunset views. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The house was quiet even if full of guests. The kitchen is well equipped and basics for preparing food are provided. Olga, the host, was very nice and helpful and the other guests very respectful. Everything was nicely decorated and well taken care of. The trip up to the house was just amazing.

Close to fantastic seal watching and Hvítserkur cliff. The host was very friendly and helpful. Recommend for everyone wanting a unique experience.

A very spacious and comfortable Icelandic house and well equipped kitchens and king size bathroom. The house waited for our arrival and showed us the features of the lodging, easing our stay after a long day. Located near a sanctuary for seals and birds where one experiences the behaviors of arctic terns and sea ducks which greatly enrich our travel experience.
