Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesParking and noise
The location was wonderful with regard to walkable dining and shopping. Parking was a little difficult to find as you’re right in the heart of town. Also easy walk to waterfront. We had to open windows for ventilation and it’s a little loud with family residents near by plus a nearby construction site was breaking down scaffolding at 9am. Place is well decorated with great amenities and comfortable bed.

United StatesParking isn't horrible to find but need to learn more about other parking options because close parking costs can quickly get out of control $$$.
We like the location of the building, design/finishes & look works for us. The coffee is nice to have on site for emergencies before going to many of the coffee shops just steps away. Walkable to so many local shops and restaurants.

United KingdomBreakfast was rather dull and one day the rolls were burnt. No tea making facilities (except a kettle) -- only coffee. No dedicated parking.
Excellent central location. Nice kitchen facilities. Easy to use the key code (so no key to forget!). Very clean room.

CanadaIt can get a bit noisy during the night.
It is literally in the middle of downtown Reykjavik. You can walk everywhere. There are multiple bus stops nearby which makes transfer from the airport easy and convenient. Some interesting activities and tours have pick up locations from the bus stops too. It takes between 5 and 12 minutes to get to the pickup locations. There is no staff on site (other than housekeeping), but breakfast is delivered every morning (if you booked that option). Breakfast is continental style (croissants and delicious bread, jam, cheese, juice, apple). There are extra supplies too, (for example towels, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.), you just go to the cabinet and take what you need. Our room had a cocktail fridge with mini freezer (for ice or ice cream), induction stove, tableware, and so on. There is grocery store near by, tourist information bureau, tons of restaurants, and best of all pedestrian friendly area. You plan a bit of shopping? There are plenty of places to shop in the area too.

United StatesThe location depends on what you’re looking for. It’s right downtown so it’s incredibly convenient for restaurants and shopping. However, we were on the first floor and could hear people talking outside on the street until 3:00-4:00am.
The beds and pillows were very comfortable and it was well stocked.

CanadaNo people in the hotel to check you in or there to answer questions…when they advertised breakfast included we thought there would be a restaurant or small cafe to eat in. Breakfast was in a paper bag ,left outside our door, with a croissant, bread and an apple and a small box of orange juice … with a pat of butter and small jam! … not the usual buffet breakfast with service that we had imagined !
Great fun location on main shopping and restaurant street …we had chosen a bigger room and it was spacious ..and clean… a big bathroom ..

United KingdomRoom was overlooking the main 'drag' and it got a little noisy on Friday night. Shutting the window muffled most of the party noise but at a cost of fresh air. Previous two nights were quite so I imagine it's more of a weekend situation. .
Location is great. Communal areas were clean and stylish. Room was exceptionally clean and well equipped. Bed was comfy. Shower was great.

CanadaThe second bed - the couch - was brutally uncomfortable. I think there should have been 2 twin beds vs. one king for those who want the option of not sleeping with their friend! Also, it was a little inconvenient for smokers.
The location was superb! Ar first, we had to get used to the very odd way of not having any humans on site - you can even serve yourself at the bar! Once we got used to that, it was good. It was absolutely wonderful to have a well-appointed kitchenette.

United StatesThe TV wasn't working when I arrived, but that was taken care of the next day.
The location is wonderful for exploring the best parts of Reykjavik, and even for walking further afield (I walked to the Lava Show, which took about 15 minutes). The room was spacious and clean. The hotel is not staffed, but there are additional amenities (towels, coffee, toilet paper, etc.) in a cabinet in the hallway. All in all, a very good stay.

CanadaSome hotel staff response time to email requests was very slow while others were fast. Taxi could not drop off passenger directly in front of hotel but to closest intersection, so if you are solo traveller with a a few heavy luggage then difficult to get assistance from hotel upon arrival. But departure,it was easier to request help. Would be helpful to have appliance instruction manuals in the room. Bathroom did not have counter space, so perhaps adding additional shelf to put toiletries would be beneficial
Great location. Had a quiet room facing the back court yard. Room was clean and enjoyed my stay. Adrian from wine bar was very helpful in helping me book a taxi to pronounce the street names properly.
