Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeI left my universal adapter in Room 5. It was my fault that didn't make a check before I left.
They emailed all the information a day before we checked in. We checked in earlier however, was told that check in is permitted at 2pm. The wonderful lady permitted us to keep our luggages in the store so that we can check in later. We had our coffee in the next morning at the pantry and made good chats with other friendly travellers. They are kind and lovely people and made our day.

United StatesSeemed to be nestled amongst other houses so didn’t feel like hotel traffic. We snagged a free parking spot out front. Clear check in instructions. Easy walk to a lot of things or if needed a short drive. Room was comfortable with a sink. The shared bathroom was across the hall and very large. Great water pressure and hot water. Kitchen was very clean. Overall a quiet stay.

ItalyI drink tea with milk and would have liked this available in the kitchen.
The location is very good, just across the road from the BSI bus terminal, which incidentally has left luggage lockers for EU10 a day. The room is adequate, more like a backpacker's room, but comfortable, clean and central. It's about 15-20 minutes walk from the main street of Reyjkavik, and even closer to very good fish restaurants around the harbour

United KingdomEverything was great, but we left our rubbish in the room as the bins were full and we weren't given any instructions.
Really well equipped, great location and easy to communicate with staff via message if we needed anything. The beds were comfortable and the temperature was perfect.

IrelandThe building could do with some updating but as my stay was so short it did not bother me.
Great location for me 10 mins walk from the domestic airport and 3 mins walk from the bus station. I had a late internal flight and early 4.30am bus to get and this property was perfect for this. 15-20 mins walk into the city centre. The building itself looks a bit run down from outside but has modern full kitchen and bathroom. The host was really responsive when I contacted her and available immediately to help

Czech RepublicThis accomodation met our expectations: we were hoping for a quiet room on our first night after arriving late to Reykjavik. The location was perfect - just a few steps away from the bus station and self check-in was very smooth.

AustraliaThe room was hot and stuffy so we left the window open for air, but we were on the ground floor (actually half underground) so could hear footsteps and talking of people arriving/returning late at night.
The location was good, easy to walk to town and super close to the bus station. Despite the shabby outside appearance, the room was clean and tidy, and the kitchen facilities were good.

LithuaniaWe did get another room than in the pictures. Ours was more plain, and was lacking nightables and lamps by bed which made things less convenient.
Great room size, comfy beds, decent kitchen. The area is peacefull and room was clean. Car parking right outside and contactless check inn made things easy.

Iceland is expensive, so for people on more of a budget this was a great, quiet space to spend a night with some kitchen facilities to boot. Super close to the bus station to get to the airport.

SingaporeJust bear in mind some parts of the house may be dated e.g. creaky doors. Only 1 large shared bathroom WC between 3 rooms on our floor, but we never had to queue to use it. Good to bring own toiletries, though.
Perfect for our last night in Iceland and for catching early international flights without staying in Keflavik: convenient location across from the BSI for day tours, Flybus arrivals/departures, and 2 bus stops away from Reykjavik's domestic airport for flights to/from North & East Iceland. Room was updated, spacious with a small dining table and a bathroom sink. Hallsgrimska church and Rainbow street are within 10-15min walk away upslope (nothing difficult). Timely and clear instructions for self-check-in. We were also happy to have our room preference met. Neat kitchen with induction stove and microwave to prepare meals. Bonus: a drinks machine providing hot coffee and tea any time of the day. Thank you!
