How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewMy stay at Valhalla Yurts Odin was cozy and delightful. The yurt was beautifully set up with a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect place to relax. Despite the bathroom being located outside and shared with other guests, it was just a short 20-30 foot walk and well-maintained. The owner was transparent about the setup after booking, and I had no issues. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend it for anyone looking for a unique and comfortable experience in Iceland.
shared bathroom and shower with other guest
Actually i was transparent before you booked. The bathroom situation is in the listing before you booked. Clearly another guest who doesn’t read the full listing BEFORE booking. Every guest knows about the shared bathroom before booking, and then told twice before they arrive, so there is no excuse for moaning about it.

Verified reviewBreakfast was very well thought out. There’s a ‘steakhouse’ down the road that was very convenient. Getting used to a shared bathroom to me a little while, but it added to the experience. The owners are very nice!

Verified reviewLovely quirky accommodation. Cosy with heat pump and wood burner. Breakfast was excellent
Shared bathroom ( with 1 other yurt) may not be for everyone and it was a cold walk in middle of the night!

Verified reviewVery secluded and quiet at night. Nice Viking theme and warm on a cold night. A nice breakfast was provided and delivered to our yurt.
Directions to the yurts were a little difficult. They gave a good description but signs would be better

Verified reviewThe breakfast arrived warm in a basket and there was a wonderful selection of foods, coffee and teas were also available in the yurt. The breakfast exceeded our expectations and was amazing.
I have no complaints. The Yurt was immaculate. The host was kind, patient and very accomodating. Appreciate everything Rick did to make us comfortable.

Verified reviewRick is by far one of the best hosts. Our experience in the Yurts was incredible. At all times Rick was making sure everything was perfect for us. If you are concerned for the cold, don't be! That won't be an issue - our Yurt was very warm at all times. Also, if you have any concern over the shared bathroom, dismiss them! The bathroom is in perfect condition, very clean, well tempered (and with very hot water) and odorless. Finally, the breakfast is awesome! Various delicious breads, fruits, ground coffee and more! When coming to Iceland for sure we will be returning to the Yurts. Highly recommended, you won't regret it!

Verified reviewWonderfully designed and outfitted. The yurt was amazing. Rick (the host) was very friendly and super helpful. The yurt had all the amenities needed. The shared washroom was immaculate and very well equipped. The workmanship for both the yurt and the washroom was also amazing. So many exceptional details. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Verified reviewHad an amazing time here, the yurt is fabulous. Breakfast was lovely, lots of variety. Rick and jitka were very friendly.
The mattress is slightly too soft
Sorry the mattress wasn’t to your liking. Some like a hard, soft, memory foam, orthopaedic…….. can’t please all the people all the time. One man’s uncomfortable mattress is another man’s comfortable mattress. Is what it is.

Verified reviewOur host was VERY nice and showed us around the property. The yurt was very clean and comfortable. The property is really beautiful. The breakfast the hosts prepared was EXCELLENT.
The bathroom was in a separate shed, and is the equivalent of a camper bathroom. The shower was very nice, but two people could not take showers after each other or you would run out of warm water. The bed was very uncomfortable. Overall our stay was good, and I think with a new mattress much could be improved, but the toilet was the only thing I just really hated. It's wood, which felt impossible to clean.
Sorry the bathroom wasn’t to your standards. However, you do see the pictures before you book so you know exactly what to expect. The wood is treated and varnished, so it can be cleaned with bleach and other cleaning materials every day and several times during the guests stay. We regularly go in and clean up mess as guests seem to be unable to tidy up after themselves. If you run out of water, maybe a shorter shower or not leaving it run before you get in it may help. I did tell you that if the light is on it’s heating up and you would need to wait, if you didn’t listen to my advice then this is why it went cold. Maybe a hotel would suit you best in future but thanks for coming
