How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location
The walls were completely paper thin. In the evening around 11pm when we went to bed someone rang the bell and everything could be heard. Then the stuff who accommodated other guests had a minor exchange of opinions and it was impossible to sleep at all. The stuff who accommodated us was not the nicest twice. When we arrived we rang the bell, but nothing, so I called him and we couldn't understand anything at all. When he came he started asking us if we didn't know what two minutes meant, even though I told him that I didn't understand anything on the phone.

Verified reviewOur experience at Abid's Palace was a complete disaster, forcing us to find somewhere else to stay immediately. The listing totally failed to mention critical safety and privacy issues. First off, the place is impossible to find. There are no signs, and the building itself looks old and dirty. When we arrived, no one was there to open the place for us or do our check-in. We spent a frustrating 30 minutes trying to call the numbers provided. Finally, someone texted us via WhatsApp, saying the key was in a lockbox right on the street outside – super insecure and a terrible start. But the biggest shock was the room itself. We found a connecting door leading directly to the next guest room! After we insisted, the staff member opened it, and we clearly saw that a man was staying in the adjacent room. As women, the idea of an unknown person potentially having access to our private space is unacceptable, incredibly dangerous, and a total breach of trust. This crucial detail was completely hidden from the Booking.com listing and photos. We even have video proof of this door. The staff's reaction wasn't great either; the person who met us was initially hostile, laughing at our serious safety concerns before finally apologizing. Because of this huge safety risk, plus the tough check-in and misleading info, we simply couldn't stay. This whole ordeal also made us miss a pre-booked excursion we had planned for our arrival day. We are now having to request a refund for this unacceptable experience. This property doesn't meet basic standards for safety, privacy, or guest service. We expect Abid's Palace to address these serious issues and process our full refund.

Verified reviewThe place was extremely clean and comfortable, very close to Termini station and metro and bus.
In the city of art and design, one would expect a well designed place, and it was not the case. It's poorly furnished. But it serves the purpose. In our last day, a staff opened the door on us inadvertently without knocking. We did not like that.

Verified reviewcomfortable bed, good location, well cleaned room and bathroom
mold in the corner of the room hidden behind the table and same in the bathroom. I left a charger behind and despite coming back to pick it up as owner requested after discussing time - they could not find it, even though they stated it was found during cleaning process. Not speaking staff is a huge issue. They did not seem to care to communicate with you, using at least google translator. Very late and short messages from the owner abotu any questions, sometimes did not answer questions unless u asked second time.
Dear sir, Our diamond ring was also taken back. And many other valuable things were taken back. Whenever you asked, we told you if there was a phone charger, you were asked to come back immediately, but you did not come at that time, you came after 4 pm, no one was in the hotel at that time. Your charger was kept at our reception, but later we did not know why we did not get it. And hey, you have to use Google translate because here, besides only Italian and English customers, there are customers from different countries, and we have to communicate with them too, isn't it very common. Thank you

No internet, I asked internet by messages, called and the staff came. He complained to me that “you are the only person to complain about the internet, other people never said anything. You get out, if you don’t like get out” I was stunt out couldn’t say anything. Luckily the Guest from the other room came out “ no internet” It took a day to fixed it , say sorry to me. I was feel bad about not because of no internet but how he handle the guest “get out” it was very rude and insulting. I just want to 2 nights stay and back home. It was a terrible staying that place

Verified reviewSimple but sufficient for a short stay in Rome - you are almost all day out. Room was very clean, spacious and yes, very quiet -room 1. The person in charge very accommodating.
Nothing particular, it looks not as traditional hotel, with fancy entrance but that's not needed.

Verified reviewThe owner of the apartment is nice but communication is difficult. The living conditions and amenities in the room do not meet housing standards adequate to the price. The location of the apartment is poor. For this reason, we had to shorten our stay in this room and look for a new place in the morning.I do not recommend this place.

Verified reviewWe intended to drop our bags off once landing in Rome, so we headed straight to the apartment block (5 minutes walk from the train station). It was a little tricky trying to get in as the buzzer for the apartment block didn't work. We tried calling a few times and managed to speak to someone on the phone. We told the lady we were outside, and she said ok before hanging up. We expected to be let in, but no one came. Luckily, someone left the apartment block and let us in. When we went upstairs, there was a man cleaning the room who directed us to reception. We were then able to check in early, which was great. The room itself was as expected. There was a working mini fridge which was great for keeping drinks cold, the bed was really comfy and the shutters on the windows let no light in in the morning. We were, however, woken up in the mornings by other people in the apartment block/neighbouring rooms as the walls were very thin. There was only 1 socket in the room and the shower didn't get very hot or drain very well. Location wise, it was close to the station, but about 20 minutes to the main touristy areas of Rome. The Vatican City was about an hour walk away. Checking out was also a little odd. Reception wasn't open when we left about 9 am, but after trying to contact someone by phone, a lady arrived (presumably the receptionist), and we left the keys with her. It was a fair room for the price we paid.

Verified reviewApartment is very close to Termini station, where most of people will arrive from airport if you are taking a bus or train. It takes only 4 minutes to get to apartment from the station. The apartment itself is located 15 minutes walk from city center, location is excellent, you don’t need to use public transport. Room was clean, spacious, bed comfortable, we also had small balcony, which was nice. There’s tv with connection to Netflix, wi-fi worked well. I know Rome very well and I felt safe in this area. The communication with the owner was a bit challenging, which caused a bit of stress. I suggest you call both numbers, sending messages is not reccomended. It takes a while for water to heat up in the bathroom.

There was no heating in the room. Hot water only after 30 minutes comes from the tap, even then without pressure. A room was not so clean.

Verified reviewWe liked the location and the price. It was not a nice area of the city, but it was relatively close to everywhere we wanted to go and not very expensive, compared to the competition.
When we entered the room, it smelled almost every time like cigarette smoke. The floor was made of ceramic tiles, which were very cold to stand on. The shower did not have warm water, even though the sink had. Also the room had an additional door, to which we did not receive a key, we did not know where it led, which was suspicious and made us feel unsafe.

Verified reviewgreat location, everything is nearby, 10 minutes to the coliseum, 5 minutes to the train station
the staff does not speak any language except Italian, we were charged an additional city tax of 14 euros for a child of 8 years old, although by law children under 10 are not subject to tax. The room is damp and cold, one small window from which there is a "beautiful view" of a dirty wall, you feel like in prison. I do not understand how the apartment got such a good rating. In general, I do not recommend it, for this price you can easily find a better option.
