Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing.
This place is like a beautiful oasis with an excellent swimming pool. We loved our self catering stay here with a supermarket nearby to buy provisions for a feast. It is a great base from which to ascend Mt Etna for a quadbiking adventure. Only a 50 minute drive to the top. The road is easy so don't worry and it takes 50 minutes or so. The host checking us in was very helpful and spoke good English (He studies at Westminster Uni)....

SloveniaWe could do with more kitchen utensils but most of the guests had booked also breakfast and dinner so it was probably fine for them.
Friendly host. They took care of everything we wanted we just had to ask. Pool was perfect, we could use it all the time, also at night, the same for tennis court. It is a big estated fenced all around, so the kids could walk around freely.

MaltaPlace is a little run down. It needs some TLC, house was missing some light bulbs, would have done with a bit of refreshing. Fridge was a bit of a nuiscence and freezer shelves were found broken. We opted for breakfast on 2 days, the first time was ok, the 2nd time was really disappointing.
The premesis are beautiful- lots of greenery, beautiful pool area and lovely country house we shared as a group of friends. Ample parking space and hosts were super accomodating and nice. Very close to Etnaland, so quite convenient for our stay.

MaltaNothing at all.
The rooms are way far from each other,so you can hear tranquility. The mature trees gives you a serene athmosfere. All you can hear is the wind hassle through the leaves. The upkeep of the place is superb. I will definately suggested to others. Few minutes drive up the hill you can walk alongside with the locals and have their Scicilian vibe. I want to thank all the staff and the owners for making this breaka very good agriturismo holiday. Thank you Carmel Galea From Malta.

MaltaThe mother was helpful but her English was poor. The breakfast server was very very sweet. Check-in was late cos we arrived late but a nightmare; We paid in full but they repeatedly asked for the full amount not realising that we paid the majority of it. It was late for us to messing about money that was paid. There was a mis communication between them and booking.com which resulted in us being delayed getting to bed (this was circa 11pm). No bar or anything to buy drinks & snacks around the pool which is a shame - we had a 2pm pick up to get to the airport so we called the taxi to come earlier as we had to vacate our room at 10.30. The property is beautiful but the family that run the place and their reservations person were really unfriendly and lacked the ability to communicate in English. The mother was extremely polite and helpful but that's about it. The animals were friendlier.
The breakfast was decent. Cottages were very clean. The premises were stunning. Lots of space, lots of greenery, deer, dogs, cats and overall very well maintained. A lovely pool too.

MaltaThe apartment we were staying in is nothing luxurious in terms of appearance and facilities - very simple and basic. It would be nice to have a kettle and some coffee/making facilities, maybe a little more utensils, some olive oil/salt/pepper (which you normally find in self-catering apartments in Italy). It would have also been nice if the air-conditioning was readily serviced and cleaned and if we had a remote available. At one point we had to switch it on so I had to clean it myself and turn it on manually
The complex in general is very nice - very clean, lots of trees and greenery, amazing views. It has a nice deep pool, tennis court, table tennis, dining area, and even a fully equipped outdoor gym which i only saw on the last day (not sure if available for guests though). The weather didn't really permit us to use the facilities unfortunately. Staff a very nice and friendly, amd if you love dogs you will make at least 2 new friends. The price is very reasonable for the season compared to other accomodations around etna/catania. The rooms/kitchenette/linen were also very clean. Breakfast is simple but nice. You get some freshly squeezed orange juice (I assume from home-grown oranges because there are plenty), some very nice croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast/ham/cheese, biscuits & coffee

United KingdomWonderful opportunity to witness a blooming orange grove and cacti over the Easter break, especially for someone born and raised in a cold climate. Having freshly-squeezed orange juice served with breakfast was an unforgettable experience. Had it been warmer, I might have also taken advantage of the pool, but it wasn't warm enough yet for Easter.

United KingdomIncredibly, NO toilets at the pool!!! You have to walk/drive back to your own accommodation to use the lavatory! A loo may be added in 2025. The only disadvantage of the peaceful seclusion of the rooms (chalets) is the potential isolation from the pool and breakfast area if you are allocated one of those furthest from the owner's house and pool area. Yours might be up to 15 minutes' walk away up and down hills. This is an agricultural area five-seven minutes' drive south-west of the small town of Paterno and the nearest well-stocked supermarket. Patermo and the surrounding area is very forlorn and extremely unkempt. There is little municipal expenditure on upkeep of roads or the environment, both of which are in a very poor state and indicate a general poverty of the area. The road sides are so overgrown that the inside lane of roads is often totally unuseable because of the encroachment of vegetation overtaking the tarmac, and the extensive and prolific fly-tipping, which is an eyesore everywhere in this area. All this is in stark contrast to the wealth of the area around Ragusa, which is the only other place in Sicily with which I am familiar. In the area: From Agriturismo Gianferranti there is no view of Mount Etna as it is obscured by the hill on which Paterno is perched. There is a lovely view of the Norman fort/tower atop the hill of Paterno from the property. The tower/fort has stunning views and there will be a 360 degree panorama of the south-east of Sicily and Mt Etna from the top... but that is not open to the public; only the inside! The ground around the tower is littered with broken bottles, graffiti and even excrement! Appalling and not surprising, having seen elsewhere in and around Paterno. Agriturismo Gianferranti, however, is a pristine paradise away from Paterno. Wifi in chalet intermittant.
The pool and gardens are fabulous and incredibly beautiful and peaceful! This feels like a corner of paradise! The optional breakfast (10Euro in October 2024), which is served in a large conservatory added to one side of the owner's 1800s home, was cereal, fresh fruit, ham and eggs . It is not a lavish affair but the portion size is generous. The rooms are individual chalets, each in their own secluded area well away from each other on the beautiful organic estate of citrus and olive groves, pomegranate trees and other produce. My two-person cottage had its own large, shaded verandah with sun lounger, table and chairs and a barbequeue. The view through the enormous, mature date palms was gorgeous. Inside the air-conditioned chalet is everything you would need for self catering; a large double bed, well-equipped kitchen area with washing machine and dishwasher, oven, hob and microwave, table and three chairs and a shower room. Outside my chalet, under the shade of the huge date palms, was a lawn with a plastic mini castle for toddlers but also one of many pools containing lilies and wildlife. Toddlers would need supervision, as one would expect on a working farm. The view was gorgeous! Ample shaded parking at chalet and main building/pool. The pool area is stunning! The beautiful pool is large, with steps down into the shallow end (but no handrail for those with poor balance). It is surrounded by terracotta tiled area with sun loungers with their built-in shades for the head that can be swung over. Overlooking the pool is a large loggia with sofas, tables and chairs, a vending machine for cold drinks and a bar - closed in October. The surrounding vegetation is stunning! Mature cactii up to 5m or more tall; wonderful, exotic trees and other flora, incredibly lush and a wildlife haven. With at least one decent restaurant, Paterno is perched on its own hill, with spectacular views in several directions, including of Mount Etna.

NetherlandsThis agriturismo feels like an oasis situated in a beautiful garden 😍 instead of a room, we actually had a little house in the middle of the garden for ourselves. We opted to eat at the location and they cooked an amazing pasta al pistacchio for us. 100% recommend to stay here!!!

The Location, the facilities, the hosts, the breakfast and the safety and security. And also super comfortable bed, and comfortable sofa bed - and also having a full kitchen at our disposal was great as well. Ample parking space and super close to Etnaland, Centro Sicilia, Etnapolis and Sicilia Outlet Village. It is also close to huge supermarkets for all your holiday needs. Moreover, Barbara made the check in process fast and easy and hassle-free!

United States1 bedroom villa was more like a studio with the bed next to the kitchen in one room. No sitting area and they added an extra bed literally in the kitchen area for our child. The shower drained very slowly and we ran out of toilet paper. Would have been nice if dinner was available.
Pool was beautiful and amazing. Lovely orchards and groves.
