Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyBicycles are available on the property for rent BUT all the tires were empty and on Sunday, the rental store was closed, so we had to walk to town. It is a nice walk but a bit long to do 4 times in a day. The pool borders were a bit stained. It could have been cleaner. The nightly rate is a bit high for the services offered.
This was our second stay at Il Casale di Nanni, and once again, it was great. The location is ideal, close enough to the center to enjoy all that Lucca has to offer, but just far enough for peace and relaxation. Lucia, Samantha, and their family are incredibly welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home. And the breakfast? Absolutely delicious! We’ll definitely be back again.

United KingdomWe stayed one night, as flying out of Pisa the next morning. A lovely little pool, very classy room and delicious breakfast. Parking was useful. It was a good 15 minute walk out of town, but walking back we saw fireflies which was magical and well worth it!

United KingdomNothing, apart from the fact that my wife prefers self-service breakfasts, but the ladies were very happy to bring more of anything else you wanted. We appreciate that space was at a premium.
Our room was really comfortable, small but adequate with a balcony. The bed was remade for us each morning, the bathroom was also cleaned and tidied each day. The sheets and towels were very clean. The breakfast was good and the pool was an added bonus.

BelgiumNothing, but please note that there are 3 floors with no elevator. I also prefer softer beds but this is a matter of taste and they were not uncomfortable.
The team managing the place is very caring and sweet. The bed & breakfast is located 15 minutes by foot from the walls of the old city. It has some tables outside for the delicious breakfast served fresh and on order to your requests (eggs, toasts, croissants, yoghurts, fruits…). The place also includes a large parking and a long sunny lawn at the end of which lies a great pool.

BelgiumIn our room, the air-conditioning had an issue and needs to be repaired, So at night it was a bit too hot. But I’m sure that will be fixed rapidly.
The location is great, really five minutes from the city centre of Luca. There is parking available at the property. The reception is great and all staff are very kind. We were almost dying of heat in Luca with 34°, and the pool was the best thing we could have the pool was big and clean, and a perfect place to cool down after a visit of the city. You can have a fresh beer or wine at the pool, it’s great breakfast was also good with eggs if you like.

United KingdomBed mattress was a little soft for me although my partner prefers this so he didn't mind. Not much space to put your things in the bathroom.
Arrived for check-in very early as we were going to Lucca Fest but the ladies had the room ready and were happy to accommodate us. Beautiful old building with lovely features, ample parking and a pool. 15 mins walk to Lucca city walls and another 12 minutes walk to Piazza Napoleone where there are lots of shops, restaurants and bars. We walked in and back twice a day at a very leaisurely pace. Breakfast is served to you at the table, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, toast, eggs and fruit juice and coffee. Delicious and plenty of it, you won't go hungry.

AustraliaLocation as there weren't too many food options between lunch and dinner. We were on the top floor which was a bit of a hike, we didn't mind but if you are older or have issues with stairs you might need to make sure you book one of the lower rooms.
We liked the stay here was a bit far from everything and you definitely need a car but a good stop point between travelling.. the breakfast was a pleasant surprise and really lovingly made.

LithuaniaWe arrived a bit late, around 20:00, so we didn’t have the chance to try the pool area. Our room was on the top floor and didn’t have a balcony, so we decided to take a walk to the center of Lucca. It’s about 2.5 km to reach the famous Piazza del Anfiteatro. After returning, we slept really well. The main street isn’t noisy, but you can hear neighbors if they are loud. The room was clean, though the bathroom was quite small. 😊 The breakfast was perfect 🤩🫶🏼. The staff was kind and helpful. I recommend this place for a short stay.

United KingdomIt's a refurbish old property which means you hear a pin dropping on the floor next door and above you. I was very unlucky to have neighbours upstairs making noise everyday at 6am which wasn't ideal. The wifi in the second floor does not work so you have to go to the ground floor.
