How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe views, but not worth it if the rest goes so wrong. Also, Eugenia was really welcoming and nice.
The whole hotel looks so old. I find quite disgusting that the shower doesn’t have a limited space and the water goes all over the toilet, which is very very small. There was a lot of dust in the wardrobe and the floor didn’t seem mopped. The bed wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t comfortable.
hello virginia. first of All thanks a lot for being with us. the hotel looks "old"....yes It is,Is located at First floor of a 1500 Building,10 rooms in the same floor along same corridor. Everything Is for fornished in style with the Place. Nothing can be modern in this 1500 house. Rooms are simple fornished because hotel Is 1 star, equipped with essentials. Your room (N 10) Is mentioned in all guide books because of its Amazing view, Is a particular double room with small private bathroom facing over Santa Caterina convent. Particular because of the bathroom position, that facing from outside Building its a SMALL room attached from the external and this makes Impossible any kind of modifie and con re-construction. I reserved you that room because you have asked many times for a double bed because of your baby that should sleeps in the middle and that Is Only room with a real double mattress, all others have 2 single beds pushed together. For the rest I apologize about the not so clean floor. Eugenia

Verified reviewThe view from our room was one from a fairy tail. We didn't to go to a viewpoint as the room window and terrace were the viewpoints. It's just a 5 minute walk from the bus stop, very near to most of the tourist areas. The room was amazing, the hotel was beautiful, and the bathroom was clean. The dinning area had everything we needed. The terrace was an amazing touch to the overall experience.
there was just one issue- it was super hot when I was at Sienna, and my fan was not working properly and was slowed down. I could not find a regulator for the fan, so I had to sweat a lot at night.

Verified review10 years ago we made a sudden decision to stay in Siena and stayed here. We loved the view of the hotel sooo much that we came back this year, with our kids :)
Very small but it’s normal for an old city like this. No fridge in the rooms, there’s a fridge in the common area

Verified reviewThe views from both my room and from the rooftop terrace were incomparable- Absolutely stunning. The instructions on how to access the property were very clear and easy to follow.
I felt that it would make more sense to renovate the room to have fewer beds, but to include an en-suite instead of having the shared bathroom.

Verified reviewThe central location and the beautiful view from the terrace.
Several rooms do not have their own toilet, which is separate and shared with one other room and located in the corridor, accessible by other people. Fortunately our room has a private toilet, but it exteremely tiny (1.5-2 m2), with the shower placed almost above the bidet and all fixtures placed 10cm from each other. The room has no private hairdryer, which has to be requested at the reception and is shared with other people. The room was apparentl;y clean, but we found 2 weird insects on the toilet floor and 2 bedbugs (fortunately not while we were sleeping). No breakfast is provided, only some water on the common table at the reception.

Verified reviewLocation is great, 5 minutes away from Piazza del Campo and next to Casa di Santa Caterina, right in the city center. It's also 2 blocks away from the Via Santa Caterina, which is the last climb in Strade Bianche and Giro d'Italia stages, if you are into cycling. There is free coffee, orzo and tea. The place is very clean and Eugenia and the rest of the staff are very attentive. The room was great, with a small table, night table and a closet. Even the room with shared bathroom had its own washbasin. The view from the balcony is the star of this place: you can see Torre del Mangia, the Duomo di Siena and the Basilica di San Domenico. It's truly a beautiful view.
thanks a lot for the Amazing review we are really Happy about meeting you in our house. waiting you next time Eugenia
