How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat place for exploring the beautiful Lago di Como.
In the rooms with a lake view, passing cars on the street may cause some noise.

Verified reviewAn exceptional place to stay - the views are stunning and the swimming pool is a wonderful place to relax. The location is perfect, right on the waterfront within walking distance to everywhere you need. Paulo was incredibly kind and helpful with booking taxis and helping my mum who needed some assistance. The rooms were large and airy and the food was great. Would love to come back and highly recommend.

Verified reviewWe LOVED Villa La Mirabella! The pool has the most amazing view. The team are amazing nothing is too much to ask. All our laundry was cleaned folded and places in our room (at an additional cost). Make sure you book in for the 3 course meal it’s amazing. Wine selection is also amazing.
The only thing we didn’t like was that we couldn’t stay longer.

Verified reviewPaolo and his team are exceptional hosts, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is ideally located if you just want to go for a walk, likewise, if you decide to take one of the many ferries to other towns on the lake.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was wonderful. It was a lovely serene way to begin the morning in a light-filled room surrounded with antique pieces. The view of the lake and the mountains is exquisite. The location of the villa was perfect. Just a short boat ride away from the busyness of Bellagio. It was so close to everything and yet set apart for true relaxation. It had its own beauty on the other side of the lake. Toured the beautiful Villa Carlotta. Walked the Greenway. The location is excellent. A better value for the money than across the lake.

“Breakfast included” in Booking.com is for basic breakfast, not cooked (no eggs, no toast) only a croissant, few slices of bread, cheese and ham, and tea&coffee. Staying somewhere as beautiful as this place deserves a better breakfast
dear Aziz, thank you first of all for your one night stay with us. We are glad you have appreciated the upgrading to a higher cathegory of room,we like to do it when it is possible. Regarding your impression at breakfast,it is a classic gourmet breakfast-which is more than what you have described here above- you could have it reinforced with all preparations of eggs you wish, freshly made on demand. Few hours stay in any hotels does not give the time to appreciate the place in its entirety, therefore I invite you to visit again and longer during your future visit at Lake Como.Kindest regards VLM

Verified reviewLocation is great - a few steps from ferry dock, a few more to the 'slow boat' dock. The hotel feels recently well refurbished, traditional without being 'precious.' The 'private park' is wonderful and unexpected. Service is attentive, gentile, helpful, without being overly present. Just perfect.
We chose a 'standard' room, and the lake-view room is only a few dollars more. Don't be penny-wise/pound foolish like me! The TV is cartoonishly small. There may be a practical or tax reason for this?, and honestly, this is not the place you go to watch tv anyway...

Verified reviewThe villa is lovely and maintains much of its old-world charm. The staff was very nice and attentive, and breakfast each morning was plentiful and easy. Short walk to Tremezzo and the ferry, easy parking.
The room itself was simple (relatively thin mattress, smaller shower) although very clean, with necessary amenities, and what we expected for the price.

Verified reviewFrom the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. Hosts and staff were very friendly and welcoming, providing any help requested. Breakfast was served in the sun room with great views of Lake Como and Bellagio. We had a great view from our Balcony of the lake. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with plenty of storage. Hotel is close (5 minutes walk) to the Carenbirra ferry terminal which gives great access to the other mid lake towns and 10 minutes walk to Tremezzo ferry terminal which gives access to the rest of the lake. We would definitely stay here again.
