Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ArgentinaThis is a beautiful place to rent a room, one block away to the train station, but enough to be in a nice spot in the city. Old building but fully renovated interior for Alchimia di Mare. As neat as it gets, everything was perfect, starting with the attentive instructions and recommendations from the owners up to the breakfast in a close-by bar. Definitely recommend it for a perfect stay in La Spezia

AustraliaIf carpark information could be supplied prior to check in (address and code) it would be more helpful for accommodation owners and guests alike to ease to ease the check in process. Owners had to kindly take time to accompany us to the carpark in another building which was sincerely appreciated but hectic for them given there is nowhere to pull up briefly to unload luggage & we could have managed parking if details are text on Whatsap prior. Everything was terrific though!
Absolutely everything was perfect about the apartment and the owners. Beautiful, clean and well supplied room and sincerely appreciated the toiletries and tea / coffee. Location was excellent to explore the area and get to train station and restaurants.

United KingdomThe stay was absolutely perfect. I was concerned about where to stay and where to park for this trip, however Daniela responded to my messages almost immediately. She gave us all the information we needed and booked parking for us in a private, safe spot right opposite the building. Upon arrival we were met in our car and escorted to the car park. Our luggage was taken inside and we were shown to our room which was exactly as described. Very large and clean. Complimentary Prosecco, sodas and tea were included as well as breakfast vouchers with two cafes to choose from. Daniela gave us lots of information of the area, including leaflets on how to book activities and train tickets. She then whatsapped me with many restaurant recommendations, train schedules and even booked a restaurant for us, that was actually fully booked ! The next day our luggage was safely stored and returned to us promptly when we returned. The hotel location is central and easy to travel to other towns from.

ColombiaOur stay was absolutely fantastic. Daniela and her family offered us outstanding hospitality always attentive, kind, and ready to help with anything we needed. They gave us excellent recommendations and made sure every detail of our stay was perfect. The location is unbeatable, just a short walk from the train station, which makes exploring Cinque Terre incredibly easy. Everything was wonderful and truly exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

AustraliaNothing! It was perfect.
The hospitality received from Daniella and her husband was outstanding. The property was secure and convenient to train and main area of Le Spezia. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Daniella went above and beyond making sure we had all the knowledge to explore the area including restaurant recommendations. It was a pleasure to have stayed in this beautiful accommodation.

United StatesThe property was great. It was very clean, comfortable, and a great location. Our hosts were very friendly, helpful and made it very easy for us to get into the property and get settled very quickly. They also had good suggestions on restaurants and things to do. Daniela is a very friendly host and a great communicator. I would highly recommend her property to anybody who is visiting the Cinque Terre / La Spezia region.

United StatesThe breakfast was at a cafe across the street. We received vouchers, but better directions, including the name of the cafe would have been helpful. We went to 2 other cafes that were closer before someone directed us to the right cafe. Unlike most of the hotels that included breakfast we only were offered a coffee, juice and a pastry. We missed having more choices.
The location was very convenient and so easy to get to from the train station. We were there to visit the Villages of Cinque Terre, so the location was perfect for us. We arrived early and just wanted to drop off our bags. This hotel is inside a larger building and there wasn't a place to drop off the bags that we could see. However, the manager was most kind and asked us to wait while she had the room cleaned and prepared.

A great bed-and breakfast style accommodation within a 5 minute walk from the La Spezia Centrale station. The rooms are located within a palazzo up a flight of stairs, although there is also a small elevator. We rented two rooms for two nights. The rooms were spotless, modern and quiet, and included many amenities including free water, coffee and toiletries of all kinds. The included breakfast is an Italian breakfast consisting of a pastry and beverage, which you get at one of two cafes located just outside. The hosts were amazing — very warm, welcoming and helpful and even arranged for a taxi when we needed one. They were present on-site, and provided a ton of information and recommendations about the area. They also were very responsive through WhatsApp. The five minute walk to the La Spezia Centrale station was very convenient for our excursion to Cinque Terre, which is just a very short train ride away (15-30 minutes depending upon the town). We were glad to have stayed in La Spezia as we witnessed people struggling with luggage on the uneven, steep streets of Cinque Terre. The apartment is also a 15 minute walk to the ferry if you are going to Portovenere. Highly recommended!

IsraelWe stayed one night at Daniela and her husband’s apartment hotel in La Spezia, and it was a wonderful experience. The location is extremely central, just a 3-minute walk from La Spezia train station, which offers direct trains to all the Cinque Terre villages. The apartment was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The room was very spacious, with a large, clean, and well-equipped bathroom. There was a pleasant scent in the room at all times, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Daniela and her husband were incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely eager to assist. They recommended great places to eat and visit, and even helped us reserve a table at a restaurant upon request. If you’re planning to properly explore Cinque Terre and enjoy the area, we highly recommend staying more than one night — not only to see everything, but also to experience the warm hospitality and excellent service from Daniela and her husband. Highly recommended — with love and appreciation!

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like, superb all round.
It was clean, comfortable, thick walls and doors, so we hardly heard any noise, within walking distance of the train station (5 minutes), we also got given a free breakfast and drink at the coffee shop opposite which we didn't expect too, which was great also!. Daniela was superb and very informative and the gentleman she was with was great also (sorry, I didn't catch his name). Honestly, the best we have ever been greeted at any stay and if we are ever back in La Spezia, we will look to stay here again.
