How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Perhaps more lighting in bedroom.
The breakfast was perfect. Selection of fresh fruit, dried fruit and nuts freshly squeezed fruit juices, muesli. Salads , cheeses, bread freshly baked cakes, cannoli, ricotta cheese,pistachio for the ricotta. Also a cooked menu of various egg dishes and a selection of cold meats and cheeses. Tea, coffee etc.

A beautifully appointed room in a lovely location. The island can be walked around in 45 minutes so everywhere was in easy reach. The property is split so we had a quiet one lane street between us and the main part of the hotel housing the restaurant and bar but this was no inconvenience. Indeed the “annex” was well appointed with its own lounge and bar area and had refreshments available during the day.

Everything was beautiful! Rooms were gorgeous….clean and pristine. The staff was always smiling and ready to help. The breakfast was perfect. Ortigia is just gorgeous!

First room had a toilet leak and we had to move- should have been seen by maintenance before we checked in. Front door of the hotel was broken and not repaired the entire stay so it felt poor to have to slide it open and closed.

The room view
Our stay at Algilà Ortigia Charme Hotel was truly delightful. The room was beautifully decorated and full of character, combining comfort with a touch of historic charm. Breakfast was perfect—fresh, delicious, and served in a lovely setting that made each morning feel special. The reception staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, always ready with great recommendations and assistance. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Ortigia, making it easy to explore the island’s charming streets, shops, and waterfront. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Siracusa!

Charming hotel with comfortable rooms in a great location in Ortigia. Quiet but only a couple of minutes walk from several good restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast and the bar is a nice spot for pre-dinner drinks. Would stay again.

Nothing!
Beautiful, charming hotel in a great location. It was very hot when we were there but it’s easy to cool off in little beaches along the city walls, we particularly like Calarossa. Very friendly staff, breakfast was excellent, everything was homemade and fresh. Our room was very comfortable. We had the family suite which was extensive, two en suites and a gallery with an extra bed. Great location to explore Ortigia - we can recommend the fort, the marina and just getting lost in the maze of streets & admiring the gorgeous architecture. We would highly recommend!

Breakfast was fantastic: eggs cooked at the minute, good choice of coffee, fantastic biscuits and fresh orange juice. The service was on point: we got help to reach a sand beach and great recommendations for food.

All the staff were very helpful and courteous.They went out of their way to help with getting a doctor for me as I was unwell and always asked how I was doing. Breakfast was very good and the location of the hotel is excellent.

Booking.com stated we were to have a balcony and we did not. Otherwise, all was terrific.
The woman handling the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was amazing. Knowledgeable, caring, and spoke great English. We very much appreciated her attention two details.

Perfect location, beautiful decor, full services, helpful staff, charming, clean and comfortable and especially the suites were palatial. Quiet and beautiful views of the water. Reataurant excellent and breakfasts sublime with incredible array of offerings many made to order. Definitely 5 star.

The price for what you get, the rooms could use some deep cleaning or fresh paint, and some of the front receptionist/staff were not friendly, mostly the night staff.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. The hotel has all the modern amenities while maintaining the old world charm. The restaurant staff were pleasant.
