It was a truly amazing place, the hosts Walter & Sabine were lovely & couldn’t be more helpful. Every recommendation for sight seeing or restaurants were brilliant. All staff were so friendly & made you feel at home. They have thought of everything, it is such a beautifully renovated home, so much history & charm but with every modern luxury. The pool was amazing as was the sauna area. Breakfast was delicious with fresh local produce. The rooms were enormous, so tasteful with own kitchen, huge lounge & free standing bath. I would highly recommend staying at this amazing property. I hope to return. - David and Kylie Toohey

Castel Maurn provides just everything for a perfect ski vacation. We truly enjoyed our stay at this exquisitely renovated 1000 years castle, where the owners Walter and Sabine together with their staff took great care of us. In the morning breakfast is brought to your suite and then you can hit the ski slopes of Kronplatz or do the nearby Sella Ronda. When you return from skiing a large and nice spa or modern gym will help you regenerate. Castel Maurn also offers a garage, which helps a lot when you don’t have to sit in cold or snowy car on your way out.

Nothing not to like, the only thing that I should take into account is that it doesn’t have elevator, but remember, you’re in a 1000 years old castle!

The place is simply great! Our room was 75 m2, a huge apartment with a great view of the fields and mountains surroundings, fully renewed with modern amenities and luxury furniture. There's a modern covered parking, a gym, a spa and the main building is an ancient hunting castle radiating all its history through the preserved materials, wooden ceilings and frescoes. The owner awaits for you with a glass of wine, telling you about the story of the place. There's a nice self-service bar, a very tasty breakfast and the staff helps you in booking great restaurants all around. They also rent the whole place to groups, really recommended for a vacation with family or friends!

Back for our second winter at the enchanting Maurn, nestled in the heart of San Lorenzo di Sebato—and it was just as magical as we remembered. This isn’t merely a place to stay; it’s a carefully curated experience where history, modern design, and unparalleled care blend seamlessly. The Maurn estate, with its 1,000-year-old legacy, perfectly captures the essence of heritage reimagined. The property has been lovingly restored, intertwining medieval charm with refined, contemporary elegance. Every detail—from the natural stone and reclaimed wood to the panoramic glass windows showcasing the Dolomites—has been thoughtfully designed to offer an experience both timeless and modern. A highlight of our stay was watching a beautiful deer family feed near the barns—a magical sight that we cherished daily. The personalized care here is unmatched. Breakfast is served in your room at your preferred time, with a variety tailored entirely to your liking. Every ingredient is locally sourced, and the attention to detail is extraordinary. They even asked how many minutes we’d like our eggs boiled—true indulgence! The wellness offerings are equally exceptional, with a sauna, Turkish cold bath, relaxing room, and a ski locker adding to the luxury. Each evening, Walter creates a warm and inviting atmosphere with a stunning gathering fire for guests. San Lorenzo di Sebato itself is the perfect Alpine escape, with snow-covered peaks, serene charm, and proximity to the renowned Kronplatz ski area. Whether you’re hitting the slopes, exploring the picturesque village, or simply soaking in the stillness of the mountain air, it’s an ideal winter sanctuary. Walter and Sabine’s dedication to making Maurn a truly exceptional retreat is evident in every thoughtful touch. This place isn’t just accommodation—it’s an experience you’ll carry with you long after you leave. We can’t wait to return!

Recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming countryside hotel, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! Nestled in a tranquil rural setting, it offers a peaceful retreat while still being incredibly convenient to reach any destination(to explore nearby attractions or just enjoy the serene surroundings) The hotel itself is a perfect blend of classic architecture and modern comforts. The building’s historic charm has been preserved beautifully, and yet every modern amenity you could want is at your fingertips. From the cozy, well-appointed rooms to the luxurious common areas, everything is designed to make you feel completely at ease. What truly sets this hotel apart, though, is the service. Every detail is attended to with such care and from the moment I arrived, I felt warmly welcomed, as though I had come home. There’s a genuine sense of hospitality here that makes it not just a place to stay, but a place you want to return to time and time again.

The owner is a couple. They are very nice providing good quality service and with very good taste. The thousands-year-old castle is located in a very beautiful area. The inner decoration reflects the owner’s good taste. It is a very nice staying experience. And the outdoor breakfast you must not miss.

Although it is a historical building we didn t missed any comfort. Carefully renovated but technically state-of-art. Everything we could think of was there and on top level. The owner and his team are taking care of everything when it comes to service and personal support. Very nice breakfast with local products. Honesty bar with top products. Great restaurants on all levels around and pre-booked on request. Short driving distance to everything.

When booking we missed the restaurant in-house on the first view. But in fact - with the network and the service of the owner - we could go to all our favorite places and every day somewhere else. Walters guests are welcome everywhere.

Amazing hosts, facilities, beyond spacious apartments, excellent sauna, gym facilities, storage for ski/bikes, amazing design everywhere and all in a fairy tale location. Close proximity to everything worth visiting in the heart of the Dolomites and some of Italy’s /Europe’s most famous slopes. Plenty of information, hosts speak 3 languages are very friendly, authentic and accommodating. We can’t wait to return, thank you very much for everything, Walter & entire Maurn Family
