How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation is excellent as it's at the beginning of Ortigia and all attractions are walking distance. View of the Apollo Temple from the balcony is a bonus. You can pick up water, juices or yoghurts for free during the day as well. Room was nice and shower very good. Simona took care of us and she's just a pleasure to deal it.
The entrance to the building needs a bit of care. Breakfast on the first day was good but we noticed that on the second day certain items which finished on the first day were not there. Bed was not really big and quite uncomfortable for me as it was extra soft. Room was a bit small and needed more storage space as there wasn't any.

Verified reviewLocation beside temple of Apollo was great and next to taxi rank .Room was clean and staff were friendly and efficient. Enjoyed the corner room with two balconies.
Apollo suite is a converted apartment with 5 rooms and a shared breakfast room, essentially a bed and breakfast. It’s located on the second floor of the building shown in photos.Disappointed as I thought the whole building was a hotel. Rooms are not huge , probably fine for one night but we were staying for 5 nights. Bar across the road played very loud music on Friday and Saturday nights. Although the apartment has a lift ,you have to climb a flight of stairs to access the lift and a further flight of stairs from the lift the the apartment, therefore not ideal for anyone with mobility problems.

Verified reviewPerfect location- spotlessly clean. Air conditioned. Large enough for 3 adults. Soundproof windows. Great service at breakfast. We could leave bags after check-out and come back and get them when leaving the town.
Nothing- it was great

Verified reviewApartment was beautifully designed and furnished. Simona the manager was lovely, thoughtful and helpful.Breakfast was a great spread. Location was fantastic.
The airconditioning in our room wasn’t working. It was extremely hit for the 2 nights we stayed so this made it a very uncomfortable night. There was a fan provided but we didn’t want to use it as it was noisy and we were worried we might knock into it during the night so we had no cooling.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent as it is right in the middle of Ortigia. Self service check in was relatively easy. Good size of room and comfortable bed. Unlimited free waters are a nice touch. The breakfast staff are very kind and helpful. Breakfast was fresh with tasty local pastries.
It is advertised that parking is available but this isn't true. We were recommended to park in a public parking 10 minutes walk away from the hotel where there wasn't any space. We had to wait nearly an hour to find a space and then had to take all of our luggage to the hotel through busy streets. This was not clearly signposted beforehand and would have affected our choice of hotel. The lift is also small which means we had to carry our luggage up the stairs.

Verified reviewBeautiful rooms, tastefully decorated and modern. Perfectly clean and well located! There’s only a few rooms which makes the hotel feel very calm and boutique, and the service very personal. The breakfast spread was great and the hotel was so communicative and make checking in and parking so smooth. We loved the stay here and would come again :)

Verified reviewWe loved the location. It was easy to find, just over the bridge to Ortigia. Admittedly we got a taxi from train station, so he knew where to go. Our room overlooked one of the historic sites. There was a lot of noise outside at night, but that didn’t stop us from sleeping. Breakfast was great, with a lot of choice. The 2 staff members we had dealings with were lovely.
My only suggestion is that the operator should print out the envelope details on a computer. We would have taken a while to get into our room if one of the staff hadn’t been there when we arrived.

Verified reviewThe property is perfectly situated for a visit to Siracusa and is well placed in Ortigia for exploring the island and further afield. Our room was spotless and well equipped. The breakfast was generous with both sweet and savoury options. We loved the social side at breakfast when meeting with other guests from around the world. Simona, who was housekeeping, is a kind, welcoming and delightful lady who really looked after her guests and we could not have been happier with the experience.
There is nothing to dislike
