How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe really liked the location of the apartment, in the center of Lecce. The host was really helpful and kind! The apartment had an elevator and we were able to get into the apartment 2 hours before the check in!
We didn’t enjoy the breakfast because it wasn’t fresh, and the croissants were not edible. We also couldn’t make espresso, only mocha coffee, which takes too long for four people. There was no sponge to wash the cups and no hair shampoo provided. The wooden stairs were poorly maintained and felt unstable. Also, the bathroom had no sound insulation, so everything could be heard. Lastly, we didn’t like that they charged for the water in the fridge, especially since this isn’t a luxury hotel.

Verified review+ Lecce is a marvellous quaint town - and major surprise on our roadtrip across SE Italy + Walking distance to anything [EXECUTIVE SUMMARY] Reading reviews, it is evident the landlord knows about some of the issues we experienced too, yet they are not willing to put them in order. Up to everyone to judge if it is fair to merrily cash out guests w/o reinvesting into your property? After our stay, we contacted the landlord with regards to the issues asking we be partially compensated for our horrendous stay. No action to date.
* A/C - we had a mezzanine room. A/C unit on the upper floor DID NOT work in cooling mode at all - after 4 hours of operation, the temperature in my room was still 26*C and has not dropped a single digit . There are no windows in the room - good luck breathing while sleeping. Moreover, A/C in the kitchen was malfunctioning too - it produced so much moist you just could not be there . Overall, A/C never worked throughout our stay (40*C outside temperature). On my home A/C, after putting target temperature in, it takes ~ 15 min max for it to get reflected. Not the case in Apollo Suites after 5 HOURS of A/C in operation. We contacted the landlord about this ... and they were kind to send a rescue party in on D+1 ... however, after the engineers' intervention, A/C did not improve at all. Was this just a show? * WiFi - EXTREMELY lagging. We needed it for WFH . Result : unable to do any remote work . We do not have ITA SIM cards so burning our roaming data plans brought unaccounted for expenses on this trip . * Balustrade - when was the last time the property had a handyman check the balustrade leading to the upper floor? It is made of rubber-y plastic and VERY loose!! Try holding a 25 kg suitcase in your 1 hand and walking up - I am a former athlete and I struggled... * House-wide alarm - that went off in the middle of the night at 03:00 am, lasted 20 min, scared & woke us all up. I appreciate this is a one-off event out of the landlord's hands, still mentioning it because we got 0 SLEEP on our 1st night in effect. * Getting there - 3 pg WhatsApp instructions + voice messages?! Mind you if you put in the address from Booking.com you will NOT arrive at the property door. Really appreciated that after a full day drive in the heat. Pro-tip: just search 'Apollo Suites Lecce' ... and a parking house too (or park outside city centre). Lecce driving is a nightmare.
The guest got annoyed because for a short time an alarm rang in a nearby house (not in our building) and therefore despite ourselves, we cannot be responsible.. and for this reason he demanded a discount on his stay. Since the conditions for the discount did not exist, he increased the dose by claiming that the air conditioning, which was also new, “emitted humidity” and the handrail of the spiral staircase moved in one point. There is no need to say anything else, moreover a review arrived after a month following the refusal of a refund by both booking and the owners

Air conditioning doesn’t work, hot water doesn’t work, floors were not cleaned, shower was very dirty. Kids had cold showers. We left after one night, then got an unprofessional accusing us of bizarre claims. Anyways, I was happy to let it go, but won’t tolerate baseless claims
Dear guest, after 24 hours of stay without any complaints, you informed us that you have decided to change the structure, reporting problems that if they actually occurred, would be resolved immediately, moreover by refusing from the first moment to provide the documents to be inserted on the portal housed on the State Police website. Exceptionally, since your reservation was non-refundable, we only collected 70% instead of 100% as per Booking.com's policy, leaving the room unavailable for reservations. We are sorry and it hurts us to receive such a low review, which we certainly don't deserve, just because a guest decided to change the structure and city for his stay thinking of evading the Booking.com rules with the threat of a negative review. Cordially Apollo Suites

Verified reviewThe location was perfect for exploring Lecce. We loved the decor, the high ceilings and contemporary design. The staff were super friendly and gave us great recommendations. The breakfast basket was a lovely addition.
It was a bit noisy street side at night. We brought ear plugs so it was fine, so I would recommend you bring ear plugs. It would have been nice to have a outdoor terrace to relax, theirs no outdoor space at the hotel.

Verified reviewThe setting is unique, in a Theatre. The room, large with all the relevant amenities and more. The host was in regular contact to ensure everything was ok. Breakfast was promt at 7.30am each day, a small selection of pastries, juice and milk. The location is fabulous. Easy parking on the next street, we couldn't ask for more.

Verified reviewGreat location in the old town, part of the Apollo Theatre (we heard an organist in the theatre playing/paying homage to Paul MacCartney during our stay. A bit weird!). There's a lift to the third floor where the apartment is located. The apartment is on two floors and has an extensive roof terrace (not much of a view though) - it looks like the host hosts parties there as there is a lot more seating than is really needed. Friendly host.
Breakfast: a token was left for a nearby café. Please don't do this: knock a few euros off the price and let guests sort themselves out - or leave a pack of ham, some cheese, yoghurt and fruit juice in the apartment. I would have given a 9 but for this.

Verified reviewLocation.
The only good thing was the central location. Other than that, everything was wrong. We had been talking for three days via WhatsApp about our arrival time (which we even confirmed an hour earlier), and when we arrived, loaded with luggage, they weren't responding to our messages. Everything in the room is very old, the bathroom is awful, and the toilet flush doesn't work. The bathroom towels were very old and worn out, and on the bed there was a duvet without a duvet cover. It didn't give you a sense of cleanliness. Supposedly, breakfast is included. By that, they mean you go to a café where you're given a coffee and a small biscuit, with no option between sweet or savory (as they clearly mentioned in the messages), nor is there a breakfast basket as stated inside the room. Very bad choice. I do not recommend it.
