How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewVery clean and updated. Friendly staff. Decent continental style breakfast. Location is beautiful. We had a wedding to attend at Schloss Freudenstein and this was the perfect place to stay for that. We only stayed for a night, but would to love to come back to explore the area more. Seems like a great area for wine!
Nothing to complain about. Maybe someone extra pillows on the bed would’ve been nice?

Verified reviewThis hotel is so beautiful and modern, and the room was very comfortable and spacious. I was very tempted to buy the bathrobe! Also the breakfast is great, and the rooftop sauna was an excellent experience in winter. The staff were super friendly and helpful, giving great recommendations for restaurants and wine (which they also sell at the hotel - convenient!).
It’s a shame that there is no bathroom in the spa area.

Verified reviewBreakfast was amazing! The yogurt was outstanding with the freshest fruit. The breakfast crew was always so welcoming. The bed was very comfortable. Rain shower ++. Good recomendations for restaurants in the area. Nice covered parking on site.
A little out of the way. Definitely want a car. We wished the sauna was always on at least a few hours of the day. Like from 4-7pm. And then at request. But instead it’s always via request and takes a while to warm up. Only available 1130-7pm. We had a nice DOC 2017 reserve manduria that we only had a glass of and housekeeping threw it away. The hotel was kind enough to offer a replacement but was still a bummer to lose a good wine we had been saving up for this trip!

We are pleased that you enjoyed your time in our Bed & Breakfast to the fullest and that we could convince you especially with our breakfast offer, the room facilities and the restaurant tips. Our house is located in the Eppaner Gand; the village center and also the first restaurants are within walking distance. Within 15 minutes by car you can reach the provincial capital Bolzano and the warmest bathing lake of the Alps, the Kalterer See. In addition, many of our guests appreciate the location as an optimal starting point for cycling and hiking tours. As you know we are a small bed and breakfast in the size of a boutique hotel. In summer our guests are mostly out of the house and discover the beautiful sides of South Tyrol. Since the sauna is often not used at all in the hot temperatures, we have decided to turn it on on demand and that between 11.00 and 19.30 (this is also the sauna opening hours in most wellness hotels in the area). We apologize once again for the misunderstanding with the open wine bottle, but we are glad to have offered you an adequate solution on the spot. The hotel design is very modern and minimalistic. In our suite, the living space was only partially separated from the bathroom, thus limiting privacy. However, the management promptly provided a nice folding paravan, which solved the problem. It is not a negative, but one must be aware that the hotel is about 1 km outside the town center. Walking is about 15 min but it has stretches of sharp inclines and descent.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and that the size and view terrace of the occupied suite Appianum met your expectations. It is true that the suite has a partially open bathroom, i.e. the shower and the washbasin are visible from the room, but the toilet with bidet is separate. In the room photos you can actually see the openness between the room and bathroom quite well, we are sorry this was not quite clear to you and you were limited in privacy. Good that you had noted your desire on site, so we could immediately get a mobile partition. Our house is centrally located in the Eppaner Gand, to the center it is about 15 minutes walk. In addition, you can reach the provincial capital and Lake Caldaro in only 15 minutes by car. Thus we are strategically very well located, which many of our guests appreciate very much.
