How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe room was clean and spacious, and the location was very close to the Vatican. Good value in an otherwise expensive city.
There is a common area and other guests can be quite loud and wake you coming in at night or leaving very early in the morning. There was a very bad smell that came from our bathroom which was strong and unpleasant. The pillows are terrible - nay as well just lay flat on the bed.
Hello all the guests are aware of the hours of silence. If warned we could have called the guests unruly. For acoustic comfort I recommend an independent holiday home Staff Aureum Group

Verified reviewNice clean place. Very easy to check in and the staff we met seemed very friendly. Close to the Vatican.
The shower was very small and hard to use because the doors were weirdly placed. It's a little way from the centre but possible to walk (around 50 mins) or use public transport which was good in the day but a little unreliable at night.
Hello, the location of the structure is clearly on the ad. It’s at 10m on walk from the Cipro Metro stop and at night it has a comfortable night bus that goes around the centre and stops 10 metre from the room. Surely there are more central positions but at very different prices Staff Aureum Convivium

Verified reviewOur room was beautiful and the bathroom v nice too… also the entrance, cafe/kitchen area very pleasant and clean… altogether great. Would highly recommend this property. Build itself is really nice too
Only problem we had was getting into it when we arrived. I couldn’t find the link Mirko had given me, the code beforehand is something we really should have had. We had to bang like crazy to get both into the front door and into the appartement itself. We could have done without that after a really long journey by public transport from the airport. The location is very nice. Obviously a lot of hotels are more central but not a problem. What wasn’t good was only one loo roll in the bathroom for a couple, not enough for anyone. A nice French couple gave us one of theirs for next day. No one was there. There’s no reception. The phone numbers I had didn’t work. Had to get a couple living opposite to help us get into the guest house/Airbnb that first Saturday afternoon, but they were fabulous . Extremely nice and helpful… Only saw Mirko on Sunday morning. Would be far more helpful to have someone there the whole time. But it isn’t really a hotel, we realised before booking so no reception desk. Once in all good 😊
Thanks for the review and the advice. Codes are always sent first, but if YOU don’t reply to the email and provide an incorrect cell phone number, it becomes difficult to communicate. The phone numbers are written both on the ad and on the plate of the guest house, I recommend a sim data when you travel abroad, or at least to warn Staff Aureum Group

Verified reviewThe room was quite spacious and en-suite. They had some snacks in the front room. Though i didn’t see a convenient store close by, the Asian restaurant in front had some nice & affordable meals 👌🏾.
I was next to the front room, one can hear the noise when other residents are lounging there. There’s also no staff on site to support, if help is needed. I didn’t have WiFi for about two nights, the staff wasn’t the most helpful & came across as rude. That particular day, I had a stressful day & rained terribly on, (bear in mind location is closer to the Vatican City, however other attraction sites are a bit farther away, you’d have to connect via the train). I was looking forward to just coming home, snuggle in bed & watch something online but I got told to just use my hotspot 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ . It would have been a different thing if it wasn’t included in the stay.
Thank you for the review and feedback. Yes, we confirm that we experienced a Wi-Fi malfunction for two days, as you mentioned. There was a storm in Rome, and we also sent a technician, but the issue affected the entire city. Unfortunately, magic is not something we can do just yet. Staff Aureum Convivium

It was quite noisy in the room. Thin walls, whenever someone used the bathroom, you'd hear it very loudly and wake up

Location is not ideal as you have to get a bus to main sights and it isn’t very reliable or fast. Bathroom smelled unfortunately
Hello, the position is described in the ad, and strategic. 10 minutes on foot from the Cipro stop 20m from the bus that connects to the main monuments, H24 bus. No signalling on the bathroom. Thanks anyway for the review Staff Aureum Convivium

Verified reviewHost did not disclose to my awareness how difficult / complicated the instructions to enter the apartment. Too far away from city center and I didn’t realize it was not a hotel. I didn’t bother staying.
Dear Guest, We are a guesthouse, not a hotel with reception services. You were invited to complete your online check-in, but understandably, as you didn’t have internet access, we offered an in-person check-in, which you declined. You stopped answering our phone calls and did not show up at the property. The location is clearly described in the listing. The guesthouse is a 10-minute walk from the Cipro metro station, and right in front of the building is the 913 bus stop, which provides service throughout the center of Rome, stopping at Piazza Risorgimento, Piazza Cavour, Ara Coeli, Lungotevere, and Piazza Venezia. I’d like to point out that this is one of the few buses that also operates at night, so the property is accessible 24/7. It seems this 1-star review might be related to the non-refundable reservation, which was declined last-minute on Tuesday evening. To this day, I’m still unclear as to why you didn’t show up. There are many accommodations in Rome, and if you were looking for a hotel in the center, you would certainly have found one, at least double the price of what you paid. Best Regards, Staff Aureum Convivium

Verified reviewThe room was clean and the atmosphere is cosy and nice makes you feel safe and welcomed , Ida the Housekeeping lady was very genuine and friendly and she keeps checking on me if i do need anything , even she didn’t speak English but she was doing her best to communicate and i was using google translate to speak with her as i do understand Italian but dont speak much.
Few things would make not book it again: - I do work in hospitality my self but in Dubai so the standards and the expectations are usually high,so my concerns were the following to ne considered for future clients but definitely not me. -The location is not very convenient as its not very near the central area and monuments. - i have been allocated the smallest room in the apartment while its my first visit and they were supposed to look after me to consider coming back. - there was a constant drainage smell in the room from the first to the last day. - The bed wasn’t confortable and the pillows are very low. - there was no flexibility whatsoever, i asked to wait in the reception area for 30min until my driver arrives to the airport and I will close the door when im leaving instead of waiting in the street but i was asked to leave the apartment and i had to wait 35min front of the building in the street until my driver arrives. coming from hospitality background i didn’t expect to be treated like that on my last day specially that the accommodation wasn’t that cheap considering all the mentioned inconvenience. i will definitely not book the place again however there is a room for improvement in this place.
Hi, I’m sorry to hear you weren’t completely satisfied with your stay. The room is exactly as described in the listing. Each room has its own set of photos, dimensions, and amenities, as detailed in the ad. We provided four pillows (two high and two low), which you might have missed, but you also didn’t ask the staff about them. You checked out late at 12 PM and requested to store your luggage until 8 PM, which, as you can understand, wasn’t feasible. As a fellow host, I would have appreciated more constructive feedback. Next time, I encourage you to read the listing more carefully, as this should be second nature to you. Sincerely Staff The Aureum Convivium
