Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomStunning palazzo, incredible attention to detail, a mix of old Italian and African folk art, antique furniture with very modern amenities, flooring etc. Our host, Dr Franco, is an exceptional human being, full of stories and good advice. He looked after every detail from check-in to daily breakfast, which was of an unexpectedly high quality. Rooms were immaculately clean

IrelandDown a side street in the city centre it is a little awkward for parking. But the city is beautiful, the location is very central, the garden terrace is exceptional & the breakfast and welcome were both generous and genuine. We loved it

United StatesSurprised there was no parking (not very clear description on Booking). However, Dr. Franco helped us secure street parking near-by.
At the center of L'Aquila, easy walks to everywhere

United StatesOur only struggle was that our host spoke no English at all. My Italian is limited, but both of us were quite patient and we were able to communicate the necessities.
It’s 2 blocks to the piazza del duomo, everything is walkable, yet it’s secluded and quiet. Our room was very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The host, Franco, asked each day about what time we wanted breakfast the next morning and was ready with fresh pasty, fruit, etc,and made café as requested. Outstanding. We were able to drive our very small car, a Fiat 500, to the property and find street parking nearby. The parking was tight and our car was damaged by another driver overnight.

United StatesThe B&B was an incredible stay while I was in L'Aquila for work. It was in a very convenient location for my work days as well as for checking out the city. Luca was an incredible host and very accommodating. The family-style breakfasts were one of my favorite parts of my trip. I highly recommend this stay.

United StatesThe location in L'Aquila was quite convienient to many locations without being excessively noisy. The owner was very friendly and kind, with a great cuppacino each morning and good breakfast selection. The rooms were very stylish and cozy with spacious bathrooms. A very great stay!

United StatesSorry, can't think of anything
We chose this for its location and in fact it is about 5 minutes walk from the central piazza. The place itself is very charming, with an enclosed garden patio full of flowers. Our room was large, comfortable and pretty. The bathroom was modern and everything worked.

Franco's B&B is a beautiful, tranquil house in the middle of the city. Franco is a kind and informative host. While making caffè he'll tell you what to do and where to go and why. Absolutely a place to go. We will go again.

ItalyThere is not much I can say negative about the location. Booking demands a longer comment, but I cannot really point at any specific fault during my stay. Therefore, I hope this comment is taken positively by the system.
Check-in was quick and uneventful. Our host offered me a complimentary cup of coffee. This is a true B&B and it has been elegantly furnished with wooden pieces coming from Gabon or Mali, which were collected by the landlord's father during his stay in Africa as a medical doctor. The quality of the rooms is quite high for a B&B and I was particularly pleased by their cleanliness as well as the sturdiness of the bathroom and the shower. It is pretty clear the owners have opted to spend more at the beginning to save less in the long run and the positive effects of such strategy do indeed show. Basically, although some features of the house are definitely rural, I have never had the impression of laying my hand upon something "cheap" or "cheaply built". Finally, the building where the B&B is located dates back 17th century and has an inner court where one can chill.

MaltaThe breakfast was very good. We even got to try the host's father's homemade apricot tart! The host, Luca, was great - he drove us to the bus station, and we sincerely hope to meet him again. Luca was always available for advice, travel tips or just a chat in the yard!

United KingdomNothing. I loved it and I will definitely be coming back.
I stayed for 4 night in L'Aquila for a research event at the Gran Sasso Science Institute. The property is absolutely beautiful. My room was spacious and had an interesting interior design. The whole house is in fact very unique and located in the heart of the town - in the historical centre. The breakfast included a very good selection of Italian food. The owner and the entire staff are the nicest, warmest people you could possibly meet. I could not recommend more.

ItalyIt is a pleasure to be a guest of Luca and Franco. The atmosphere is always magic as the service and the care that they reserve to you. The room (if possible) is even cleaner than the previous time. The addition of the topper on the mattress make the sleep even more confy. The breakfast is always very varied with artisanal and local products. The position is amazing for enjoying the city of L'Aquila and its suburbs.

United StatesThe room did not have air conditioning. Not that we needed it, but it is listed as an amenity in booking.com. Just a heads-up for those who like cozy temperature: L'Aquila's elevation is 2,350', the B&B's heating system is centralized and, with the current energy crisis, Italian laws allow for limited heating time and temperature setting, which means that your room may feel on the chilly side.
The location is difficult to beat. The environment is a little homey, but your hosts are are very welcoming, extremely available and helpful. The room was very nice and comfortable.
