Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The location was central to everything in Matera. The owner was very helpful and quickly responded to messages. He helped with finding safe parking and even followed me to a parking spot and rode me back on his motorcycle. They drove me back to the spot 3 days later with our luggage. We asked about the best spot for sunset and the owner drove us there and picked us up. Also, he allowed us to use his freezer for our limoncello.

LithuaniaA great choice for enjoying the old town of Matera, with a perfect location right in the historic center. The room was clean and tidy, and it had a well-functioning air conditioner. The hosts were very friendly and hospitable: they gave us advice on what to see in Matera, told us about the city, and also directed us to a free parking area.

🇸🇬Highly recommend this B&B if you're looking for an authentic living-in-a cave experience. The B&B is easily reachable from the train/bus station. Given its central location, it is easy to reach all the main tourist attraction. The breakfast offered is also great! Most importantly, the host, Nicola and his dad, are very amicable and endearing. Nicola went all out with his recommendations and offering of help. I felt completely safe and well taken care of.

Perfect location in the old city but still near the main square and free parking. Great spacious rooms. The owner Nicola was amazing, preparing a wonderful free breakfast, guiding us where to go, even driving us back to our car on the last day. This hotel is a “Must Stay” for anyone visiting Matera, and the owner Nicola turns a great stay into a Fabulous heartwarming stay that guests will never forget

10 out of 10 on everything, from the location to the breakfast, to Nicola’s local recommendations + help making restaurant reservations. We felt incredibly lucky to stay in this home that was owned by Nicola’s grandfather, to hear Nicola’s stories + a personal history of the area from a local. Nicola & the b&b were even featured in a travel show, which we enjoyed watching!

Nicola and his father were great hosts! They picked us up from where we'd parked our car and drove us all the way to the property. They helped us with everything from recommendations, to restaurant reservations and making sure we had everything to enjoy our time in Matera. The room was clean as well as comfortable, equipped with a smart TV, an AC unit and plenty of room for storage. The breakfast was delicious. We felt at home and if we ever returned to Matera we would stay here again, no need look any further!

The gentleman and his father were amazing. We are an old couple and needed help with some technical things. Nicolai was so generous with his help. He actually took us on his scooter into the town to shop for a couple of things we really needed. It would have taken us hours to do this on our own but with his help we were there and back in 1/2 hour. And it was fun! He was so friendly, kind, and helpful, as I said. I can't imgagine anyone else going the extra mile in the way he did. The place was beautifully appointed as well. Very very tasteful

Nicola and his father are excellent hosts: friendly, helpfull, open-minded, attentive and very generous with their knowledge of the place. If you follow Nicola's suggested tour around Matera you will see everything worth a visit. The location of the B&B is perfect, right in the old part of town, very quiet and in the old family dwelling full of history. Breakfast is a special event where you get in contact with the other guests and the hosts chatting into the new day. Very recommendable!!!

We had a great stay at Nicola’s B&B. It is located in the Sassi with everything in walking distance. He gave us recommendations for local restaurants and took the time to advise a walking route around the city to take in the sites. He also arranged a local walking tour which was really informative. The local traditional breakfast each morning was a great start to the day. If we were to visit Matera again, we would definitely stay here.
