How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewEverything was Perfect in our room top left but the room on the right unfortunately had a very bad smell. Perhaps it was just the timing but it was very bad. Apart from that everything was Perfect the property, the Style, the vicinity to the Beach and the nice Lady.

Verified reviewThe location is quite good, not far from Portoferraio, beaches of Biodola and Procchio, also location is quiet.
Huge lack of investment in basic facilities- shower, beds, linens, electrical system, conditioneer- everything is or very old, cheap or too used. Room was about 40m2 with a conditioneer of 9000btu which is for 25 m2 , so in summer heat of 35-40degrees its too hot inside. Breakfast is incredibly poor- only few sweet brioche or muffins or yoghurt from supermarket.
The style and furnishings of the entire structure are inspired by an old farmhouse, the 'electrical system by the way made to standard and certified was made with wires woven on the outside as was once used and the furniture is absolutely not obsolete but was purchased intentionally old style but absolutely new. The structure of the room where the lady stayed (by the way one of the most beautiful) with treated wooden beam roof left in the original style. The air conditioner is new , working and no guest had ever complained. I do not accept that one can make judgments on investments not made, the 30 cm high mattress is not obsolete. The only criticism I can accept might be the breakfast which subjectively might not like.

No soap or shampoo in the bathroom. A sign in the breakfast room stating that a second coffee would be charged: I have never seen a sign like this in any accomodation in Italy. Only saw one staff member who did the bare minimum with an Ikea smile.
Dear Mr. Antony, I am truly shocked by what you wrote. We assigned you a room for 4 people and you were there alone. The courtesy set that is present in all the rooms and was for 4 people. The sign that indicates that the extra consumption of the cafeteria is legitimate and rest assured that it also exists in other hotel facilities. Often we do not even charge for it. We cannot remember if you consumed something more but we are sure that you did not pay anything extra. We have always been kind and courteous towards you. We do not understand the dishonest and pure wickedness of people like you who smile at you in front of you and then damage you with false comments.

Verified reviewThe location was good but you will definitely need to rent a car to properly go to all of the island. The surrounding area of the hotel was beautiful and it was very peaceful. The room was nice and was very clean and orderly when we arrived.
We showed up after the check-in time and no one from the staff was there. There also wasn't a place to leave our bags after check-out on Sunday which was a bit inconvenient for people with ferries late in the day.

Verified reviewVery nice country house place with mostly sweet breakfast on the terrasse. The remote location is quiet and clean. Very good communication with the owner.
The very very soft mattress on one of the beds. Air condition rattling, and since the roof is pure stone it was hot inside with no possibility to have it on at least few hours into the night.
