How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location near major attractions in Trieste.
The lift was difficult to use at first so we had seven flights of stairs to climb. Important to note that the accommodation is not the whole building but on the 3rd floor.

Verified reviewThe experience we encountered at this property is difficult to describe. We knew we would be arriving after hours, which was acceptable with the proprietor. We were given instructions as to how to enter the building, which floor/ room to select, a code for the room lock , the wifi password and the whatsapp- in case of issues. We arrived to an unlit entrance, a front door unlocked (and un lockable) a broken elevator, an access code which would not unlock our room. Issues? YES!, the icing on this cake of disappointment was the incorrect wifi password. Not only were we without a room, we had no way to whatsapp the %$€£*%# proprietor. After wandering the streets of Trieste after midnight for some time I was able to bum a wifi signal from a closed business, and was finally able to message the contact. After sharing my concerns I was not provided any kind of satistaction, and since I was told I would not be getting any personal assistance I messaged back, informing that I would be leaving and I did not expect to be charged for the 'accomodation'. -- we found a taxi, got a hotel and thought we had put the B&B Goldoni experience behind us. Now they apparently only want to refund 50€!!! A word to others- Please, pass on this one and you will save much more than money. Ed Neufeld
EVERYTHING- the building was crap. The contact person is apparently a thief. Whats to like?

Verified reviewLovely hosts, decent breakfast and perfect location to explore the city.
The street just outside our room was very noisy and closing the window did not make any difference. The furniture was somewhat outdated with a very tough bed and bathroom that was falling apart in several places.

Verified reviewClean room, with 2 single beds, comfortable, private bathroom with shower opposite the room (opens/closes with key). Super clear informations on how to get there. 12/15 min walk to the station, very close to nice squares and restaurants.
Industrial breakfast, even the bread and brioches (such a pity being in Italy!), industrial orange juice, no fruit. Only interaction with staff/manager was via phone/mail. Not a homey feeling BandB, but ok for 1 or 2 nights.

Verified reviewCentral location, value for money. Food was pretty good, staff was professional and room and Hotel was tidy and clean. All the Places of interests within city were accessible by foot in 15-20 mins including Bus and Train station.
As it is right at the Piazza Goldoni, it remains quite noisy until late and early in the morning too.

Verified reviewLocation - close to bus station, historic places, shopping and places to eat Basic, yet enough for me Cleanliness, which is of utmost importance Varied options, organized and neat breakfast area The owner is very nice and welcoming The staff is very good
I loved the location, but at night street vehicle traffic noise is very, very loud. You can hear the motorcycles and emergency vehicles alarm as if they were inside the room, even in the third floor. Elevator is kind of antique and has its trick. I was locked inside until by a chance, other guests showed. There was no one in the building to hear me calling for help. The bed mattress is thin and uncomfortable. Also the sheet covering it was extremely thin.

Verified reviewGreat communication with the staff via WhatsApp, they were able to help me with getting a taxi to the airport, thanks again! Good check in instructions Clean, spacious room, nice breakfast. toiletries and towels provided. Great location close to the main sights
Too much noise from the outside, location next to a busy street WiFi connection was bad, I had to use my data all the time.

Verified reviewGreat staff and location. The place is comfortable, and the building puts us inside historical Italy.
It was a windy day, and the room window shook and hit the whole night, making it difficult to sleep. The bathroom door should not be glass. Even considering the glass is not fully transparent, it is not very private.

The room was freezing and not very clean. There were no curtains in the windows so the wind came in. In the morning the breakfast was very Italian, I made my own breakfast.
