How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Porta di Mare - Catanzaro One never knows what the next accommodation will be. My late arrival on a chilly evening was made into a warm welcome. Though late, Zakia, my English speaking hostess, kept in contact with me for directions , transportation assistance, and confirmed that I arrived safe and could be comfortable with the lodging. During daily conversations, she offered suggestions as to sights, local eateries, and activities that I may have an interest. She was immediately attentive to any requests or questions, Has a friendly , pleasant demeanor, positive attitude, open and welcoming. My stay at Porta di Mare was surprisingly pleasant. Nice views, cleanliness, air conditioning, quiet, nice breakfast, homemade treats. Though not downtown, it was close and mostly walkable.. At the end of the day, my stay was made most enjoyable because I knew that I'd return to favorable comfortable accommodations, Thanks to Zakia. I would recommend anyone visiting Catanzaro, try Porta de Mare. Say Buongiorno !!

Za our hostess was wonderful. The breakfast was fantastic. She helped arranged transportation for us to and from the train station.

Personally, I would have liked in-room hot water for tea.
Comfortable room and nice bath. Very nice breakfast. English speaking staff very warm and helpful.

Stairs to the room are difficult with suitcases but that's what you'd expect in traditional accommodation.
Our room was a lovely size, luxury bathroom and immaculately clean. Had everything we needed and air con did its job. Breakfast was lovely, fresh croissants, some meat/cheese, lots of traditional cakes, yoghurt, muesli, juices and coffee. Bonus was some fresh fruit. Location is next to the beautiful viewing area of the valley below. The restaurant just around the corner was a real bonus too. We only stayed two nights and ate there both of them! Zakia went above and beyond to help us out and offer advice for which we are very grateful. She really cares about your experience and takes pride in the service she is offering. Thank you.

I have only praise for this B&B. Both Zakia and Germano are exceptional people, expect to find a warm welcome by them. They both were extremely helpful when it came to getting advice, finding transport, and pretty much anything I needed to enjoy my stay. I can't thank them enough for their friendliness and enriching my time in Catanzaro. Zakia prepares breakfast every day and puts work and care into making delicious pastries for her guests. Rooms are kept perfectly clean, are comfortable and in great conditions. The ambiance of the B&B is cozy and relaxed. No doubt I would want to stay again here if I come back to town!

We only stayed one night as we were passing through, but the room was spacious, comfortable and the breakfast lovely. Staff were friendly and recommended the Porta di Marina for dinner, which was fabulous and authentic. Make sure you try the regional wine, it punches above its weight and far better than the North, despite the limited variety. The town is quaint and worth walking around, the arch bridge and viewpoints are beautiful.

aircondition on the balcony is little bit noisy

The narrow stairs (we were at the second floor), it was a problem carrying the luggage. The central heating did not work. Very important: a DANGEROUS step in the bathroom where you can easily stumble and fall.
The interior, furniture, good bed, good shower and towels, excellent breakfast, friendly staff

No lift! Was very disappointed since our bags were heavy. Also, the AC wasn’t very good.
Great place. The room was well appointed and the check in was easy.

Steep climb on the way back to the bus stop.
Stylish, characterful room. Lovely and clean. Generous and tasty breakfast options. Amazing entrance atrium!
