How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was good and we were the only guests. The towels were clean and there were all the mentioned facilities.
It was a quest to get inside, as there is no proper reception, but you need to solve all during the call. The rooms under the beds as for me and the carpet in the corridor were quite dusty. And the room is darker than on the photos. Some lamps were not working.

Verified reviewWe were satisfied with the location. The room was clean, and the sheets and towels were also clean. The breakfast in the nearby café was good — a croissant and coffee (they also have decaf). All in all, we were satisfied.
The walls are quite thin, so you can hear everything from the rooms next to you, but we were lucky to have quiet neighbours. We had to call the owner when we arrived in front of the building door, and again when we reached the floor where the apartment is. The calls were made while roaming, but the charge wasn’t too bad (about 5 euros).

Mattress in bed was very hard, I had problems with sleeping. Walls was soooo thin.. I was reading other feedbacks about that, so I tought I was prepared.. I wasn’t. On of the mornings I waked up, because some Russian lady was angry, that her family didn’t wake up early enough and where late to something. She wasn’t even yelling, just talking in normal voice. And I am a heavy sleeper, but I did wake up couple hours before my alarm because of that. The other night I couldn’t fall asleep, because there was some Indian dude, who was singing. I heard it all.. I didn’t find fridge in my room and there was no kettle, that was a bummer, I had to eat out every meal because of that. I didn’t heard anything about breakfast (that was included in the price) but I didn’t ask, because I didn’t want make a call to owner, who was talking in English, but with very strong Italian accent. When I didn’t understand what he said, he started to get mean, so it was just an unnecessary call.

Verified reviewGood location.
The room was dirty. There was all sigarettes, hairs and wisps of dist on the floor. The bed was terrible, hard, that you can feel the springs and creak could have been heard from the street. A little renovation would have been good!

Verified reviewBEWARE! The property owner shows complete disregard for guests' time and safety. We had a confirmed booking, arrived at 7 PM, only to be told 'shower is broken, you can't stay' - no prior warning, no message, no cancellation through Booking. When called, the owner's response was shockingly unprofessional: 'It's my decision, contact Booking yourself.' Imagine leaving a woman alone on Rome's streets in the evening, with luggage, searching for emergency accommodation - all because the owner couldn't spend 1 minute to cancel the booking or send a message. Complete lack of responsibility and basic human decency. The shower issue was known in advance, yet the owner chose to ignore it until we physically arrived. This level of negligence and unprofessionalism is unacceptable for any accommodation provider. Book at your own risk. UPDATE: The situation got even worse. When Booking.com tried to contact the owner about this incident, he completely ignored them. When I messaged him about his dishonest behavior, he called me and, upon learning I was Ukrainian, explicitly supported Russian attacks on Ukraine and wished for more bombing of our cities. This reveals not just unprofessional business practices, but deeply disturbing personal conduct. His behavior moves beyond mere negligence to deliberate malice. After filing a chargeback through my bank, I successfully recovered my money. Justice served.

Verified reviewRacist, aggressive, unprofessional, misanthrope, liar. The owner of the property is unsuitable for being a host. When I booked the room, I had chosen to pay on the spot. So at arrival, he informed me by phone (he never showed his face!) that he would come the following day at 09.00 to be paid. I asked him if he could come earlier than 09.00 as we had to leave very early. His answer was: "If you want, you can leave the room and search for another hotel. I will come at 09.00". So I was at the room at 09.00 waiting for the owner. Nobody came and of course he did not reply in my calls or text messages. Two days later, on the check out day, an Italian guy (who did not speak English of course!) knocked at our door at 08.00 asking to be paid. The amount was different so he called the owner. That being, that thing that calls himself a person, started shouting at me that this amount includes city tax (city tax was different - obviously!) and this is Italy, not Athens and I must pay this amount. When I tried to speak, he got even louder and he told me very aggressively FIRST YOU PAY - THEN YOU SPEAK. That two-leg being has no respect to the guests, or people in general. But this is not the end of the story... I paid what he asked for, and asked for an invoice with the whole amount that I have paid. I have contacted BOOKING CUSTOMER SERVICE 4 times until now. The invoice is wrong, it is not valid and the amount is not the one that I have paid. I explained to this 2-leg being that a proper invoice is required by law, since I have paid with my business card. I have already informed BOOKING CUSTOMER SERVICE about this and they have already contacted him 2-3 times. At first he was lying that he has sent me a second, correct invoice. Then he told CUSTOMER SERVICE that they should not contact him, if I wanted another invoice I should contact him directly! BOOKING Security control is now in charge. BOOKING NEEDS TO PROTECT THE GUESTS BY SUCH HOSTS!!!

The arrival instructions were unclear and we didn't have the host's phone number. We waited outside of the apartment and fortunately, a couple was leaving the building and gave us access and the host's phone.

Verified reviewTo be fair, the apartment was in normal condition, with acceptable comfort and service. Cleanliness is normal. However, we did not find slippers or a kettle in the room, which were supposed to be there. We were cold, and we asked for blankets, which were not provided.
I would like to share with you my experience of staying in this apartment. As for the attitude of the owner of the apartment, I want to tell you about his worst behavior. On the very first day and during the first call, he demanded that we immediately pay for the apartment and send him proof of payment. Accordingly, since I had a card linked to the reservation, I paid for the reservation and sent a photo as proof of payment in WhatsApp. There was no other way to pay at that time, because no one met us to pay on site. Morning came, Dmitry, the apartment inspector, came (thanks to him) and demanded immediate payment, since according to him, the money had not been paid and the owner demanded either immediate payment or that we be kicked out of the apartment. I explained to Dmitry that we had spoken to the owner Sandro the day before and had already sent a screenshot of the payment confirmation, and asked him to check the correspondence. On the spot, we only had to pay for a city taxi, which we paid in cash. We thought that the misunderstanding ended there, but it was not so. Sandro called Dmitry on his phone and decided to talk to us, calling us liars, frivolous women (prostitutes) and demanding that we pay immediately, otherwise we would be escorted out of the room. To which, of course, he received an appropriate response. After long arguments and swearing, he eventually (probably did so) checked the payment status and made sure that we had paid, but his impudence continued. Soon he came to the apartment and decided to see who we were. He did not even apologize for unfairly scolding us, his answer was that the apartment belongs to him and he does what he wants, and if we do not like it, we can leave it. I believe the owner tried to get the money twice, but failed. I even thought about calling the police if the owner decides to throw us out of the apartment. I advise you not to contact him. I advise Booking to check his behavior and finances.
