How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I think different people own different parts of the Palazzo and as a result, the common parts are not well kept.

Verified reviewThis property is magnificent. It’s steeped in architectural antiquity in its original state built in the 1500 and restored in 1690. It’s central, and beautifully kept. The room was simple but in keeping with its historical setting. Davide was warm welcoming and truly amazing as a host. It’s was like I was welcomed home! There is a great restaurant downstairs. For me the whole stay in Caltagirone was amazing. When I return, I will only stay at Palazzo Aprile.

Verified reviewIt was absolutely beautiful. As a solo traveling woman I felt very safe here, I even left my luggage with Davide after my checkout while I walked around the city and it was well looked after. They are very quick to help and make you feel welcome. The room was cozy with a nice AC.

Verified reviewDavide was so very welcoming on our arrival and contacting him to confirm our arrival time was very easy . Our room was lovely and we felt “ At Home” in this lovely house . Palazzo Aprile is in a beautiful old building very close to the centre of town and all the tourist sites .Ample parking nearby . Highly recommend this lovely hotel 😁

Verified reviewThis hotel is something special and is highly recommended to anyone visiting this beautiful area in Sicily. The hotel is located in a historical building and has a very unique and romantic atmosphere. The rooms were spotless and the service was some of the best we have ever experienced. Our host, David, is the most gracious, friendly and helpful person you can imagine. We arrived on 2 motorcycles but due to unforeseen circumstances had to continue our journey with a rental car. David offered to store our 2 motorcycles for 3 days to help us sort our problems. This really solved a huge problem for us and we are eternally grateful to David for going the extra mile for us. We can't recommend this hotel and its host highly enough.

Parking was a bit difficult to find on the streets nearby. No breakfast option Room was a bit worn down (plastering)

Verified reviewThe location of the apartman was great. It was close to everything. There was enough space for two and the room was nice mainly with the morning lights. Davide was kind and helpful.

Verified reviewThe B&B is located in an beautiful old palace in the amazing old town of Caltagirone, not far from the famous scales and good restaurants. The owner is a very nice guy who welcomed us with a big smile and even gave us an upgrade for the room, as we were the only guests at that time. The room was huge with a balcony and a cozy atmosphere. Also we could store our bicycles in a safe place. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

Verified reviewCentral location. It is just off the square on a side street, so not as shown on photos. All the rooms are on the second floor with an amazing stone staircase up to them with shallow steps so very easy even with bags. It is beautifully decorated in a traditional style. The manager is lovely and very helpful.
If you are not familiar with Sicilian roads don't try to drive through town. Go to one of the free car parks on the edge, then it is only a 10 minute walk to the hotel. We went to Parcheggo est which is directly of the main road.

I didn't quite understand the detail of the side street compared to the photos: we are on the main street of the center and, unlike some, our photos reflect the environments and position. What is certain is that despite the central location, the pedestrian area at unjustified times and periods does not favor tourist traffic in the historic center. Until next time.

Verified reviewLocation is the best. The building is very architectural and beautiful. David was a very accommodating host.
I had a bit of trouble finding where Palazzo Aprile was located within the building at their address. We arrived at night so did not notice the signs on the 3rd story of the building noting the accommodation. Also we had trouble contacting the property that night. Arriving during the day would have helped us see the sign. I was expecting check in to be on the first floor but it was on the third floor where the B&B is located.
