How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation was good with a bus stop at the front door. Owner/manager was very helpful
When advertised as a Bed & Breakfast - a breakfast would have been welcome as opposed to a voucher for only one coffee and one croissant at a local cafe.

Verified reviewAmazing location, free parking
Self service, no host/customer service, carry your own suitcase up a flight of stairs. Small rooms (compared to others) for two people (definitely big enough for one person), okay facilities.

Verified reviewBebigea is a high quality & carefully renovated, well maintained hotel-like appartment complex with 14 medium sized rooms over 3 floors in modern business style, of which one or two are double rooms. All rooms have airco, hotel refrigirator, comfortable double bed, clothing cupboard, bathroom with bidet, large shower with anti-slip floor, and small balcony. The rooms are cleaned every two days, with fresh towels, bed linen etc. A reservation comes with a daily Italian breakfast at a nearby coffee bar. Bebigea also has an unattended check-in/check-out service, with security codes for all entrance levels, which makes arrival and departure times very flexible. The owner, Ignazio, is a very friendly man who takes pride in his guesthouse, and rightfully so. He and his personnel show a level of competence and dedication that is rare in these parts. The owner holds office at Bebigea every day of the week, roughly between 8:00 and 13:00. There is a coffee machine at every floor and a beverage & snack machine at the entrance. It is mainly occupied by Italian tourists that stay 1-3 days, and only incidentally by other European tourists. Free private parking, with a host of shops, restaurants and tourist sites (incl. Ortigia) at walking distance.
- Half of the rooms of Bebigea are located at Corso Gelone, which is a high traffic entrance to the city center, and nearby the main city hospital & emergency respons. That means a lot of traffic noise and sirens. If you prefer more tranquility, ask for a room at the back side of the complex. - A little pricy for a B&B, but that's what you get the closer you reside to the city center.

Verified reviewReally clean and nice decor, as per the pictures you see. Very comfortable, quiet and at a good location as it's on the route for buses going out of town. Near the archaeological park and about 25 mins walk from the centre. You self check in and it was very easy as Ignazio gave us clear directions. Staff also helpful.
The breakfast choice was a bit limited - pastry plus a tea/coffee/juice. I often needed something extra to fill me up.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious, great shower. It was spotlessly clean. Access on arrival was very easy. Communication with host via email was great. Replied very swiftly.
It was about a 20-minute walk to the nearest restaurant. We arrived on a Sunday so there was nothing available in the vicinity. Fantastic eateries though around the Duomo.

Verified reviewOur stay in Syracuse was truly enjoyable, and we appreciated several aspects of this accommodation. Firstly, the self-check-in and check-out process with clear instructions made our arrival and departure hassle-free. The added bonus of having private and secure parking was a great convenience, allowing us to explore the city with peace of mind. Although the property wasn't located in the historic center, it was still within walking distance, making it easy for us to explore the charming streets of Syracuse without needing our car. One highlight of our stay was the breakfast arrangement – receiving a ticket for a delightful breakfast at the nearby bakery (panificio) across the street. Their Sicilian-style croissants, pastries, and "brioche" were a delightful treat, giving us a taste of authentic local flavor
While our overall experience was positive, it's worth noting that the noise insulation in the room could have been better. We occasionally heard street noise, but this was not a significant issue for us and didn't detract from our overall enjoyment of the stay.
