How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis place was absolutely exceptional! The history of the monastery made us feel like we had stepped back in time. Our favorite part was exploring the beautifully maintained grounds—they were truly magical. We also loved the fresh, organic food grown right on site. From farm to table, every breakfast was outstanding. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough, and we would love to return!
Absolutely nothing

Verified reviewWe had an incredible stay at Badia a Coltibuono, and wish we'd had more time to enjoy the grounds/pool. The highlight was a cooking class with Linda, who was so patient and fun in guiding us through the meal we cooked and then enjoyed with wine pairings. Her assistant (who also have us a tour of the wine cellar and provided the wine pairings) was also wonderful. If you do the cooking class, pace yourself! It's a lot of delicious but filling food!
The WiFi was a little slow. Very little to complain about but there were a LOT of bees/yellow jackets (?) in the garden and around the outdoor tables that also made their way into the breakfast room because the doors were open (understandable because the weather was so nice, but for anyone with an allergy, their presence inside was worrisome).

Verified reviewReally unique property, beautiful grounds. Restaurant excellent. Pool area is lovely but quite a walk from main building. Very relaxing setting. Breakfast very good. About 10minutes drive from nearest town.
A bottle of water left in the fridge would have been nice. Given the price, it would also have been a nice gesture to have left a bottle of their wine. Furnishings need to be upgraded. It’s a beautiful property but expensive for what you get.

Verified reviewThe hotel is one of the most beautiful I have seen! It's like a fairy tale hotel. The rooms are great in space, decorations, and services. Everything works perfectly! The staff is super nice and helpful, giving the extra mile. The breakfast is good, with gorgeous views to the garden. The restaurant is good but I think it can be better (more variety, traditional dishes, bigger portions, etc). The pool is very peaceful, which i appreciate.
I would be nice to have: more options to eat, maybe another restaurant or like a little snack shop; some services at the pool (towels there so that guests don't have to bring them); more activities in the hotel

Verified reviewThis was the perfect mini getaway! The grounds were beautiful and the food and staff were amazing! The wine wasn’t too shabby either! ;). The wine is delicious!
The bed in our room was unfortunately very uncomfortable for both my husband and myself. But that is literally our only complaint about our stay.

Verified reviewBadia a Coltibuono is truly one of a kind — imagination alone cannot capture it. The property is a unique space in a unique setting: authentic, untouched, and surrounded by nature’s beauty. Every corner feels timeless and serene. The breakfast setting and common areas are excellent, and the views and surroundings are what dreams are made of. We especially loved the cooking classes and the chance to socialize with other guests — such a memorable experience. It's a pity we only stayed for a couple of days; this place deserves to be enjoyed at a slower pace.
Didn't have enough luggage space to take more bottles of wine

Verified reviewThe night was an unforgettable experience! The hotel, housed in an ancient monastery, was breathtakingly beautiful. The rooms, decor, and surroundings were all stunning. The garden was a highlight, especially during breakfast - it was truly incredible. We also had the chance to try a nearby restaurant, and the carbonara was delicious.
One thing to note is that the pool wasn't in operation during our stay, but we were okay with it given the hotel's other great qualities.

Verified reviewWe loved our stay - especially the cooking class! Really relaxing setting and views, with the property steeped in history. The restaurant and cafe on site was wonderful too. Enjoyed learning about their wines and bought some to take home.
We had an electric vehicle and the on-site charger was out of service - worth checking if you're in same position. There are other options in nearby towns / en-route so easy to solve.
