How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe didn’t receive the email with the code for the door or any indications but once I called the guy on the phone was really nice and helpful. The room is nice and it’s quite close by foot to the centre.
The neighbours were SO LOUD at 7 in the morning that it was not possible to sleep again. But I understand there is nothing they can do about this.

Verified reviewAccommodation was nice, clean and quiet (except the birds in the morning). Everything what we needed was there: towels, toiletries, air-conditioning, fridge in the room. In the kitchen there was free tea and coffee and it was even possible to borrow un umbrella and pads for the beach. It was close to the city center, Alghero beach and airport/beach bus stops (just 10-15 min walking). 40 min walking to Maria Pia beach.

Verified reviewThe location of the property - very close to the city center. Easy check in and check out. The apartment was clean but unfortunately with a pregnant smell of chlorine in the bathroom.
The first floor of the building is destined to 4 apartments and a kitchen for renting. I had the room no. 4. Since you open the hall door you can sense the cigarette smoke. Also the room smelled of cigarette smoke a lot, although it is forbidden to smoke in the building. We weren’t able to sleep (we are non smokers) without windows opened and even so the smell was still in the room. This was the main inconvenience regarding the property considering the 100€ paid for one night.
Dear Mr Andreea, we are very very sorry for the inconvinient: We confirm that Bernini guest House is a NOT SMOKING property but unfortunately, the rudeness of some customers who do not follow the rules meant that your stay with us was not idyllic. However, we are sorry that this, in your judgment, has penalized us since you have not mentioned the fact that everything was due, precisely, to the rudeness of those who shared the house with you at that moment. In the future, however, we kindly ask you, and in case it happens again, to contact us immediately in order to find out who is smoking in the room and ask them to leave the house

Verified reviewEverything was perfect. The accommodation is very nice, the bed is comfortable, with a brand new mattress. The bathroom is clean and new, with large LED mirrors. We were surprised that the room included a mini fridge, which we were very happy about. They came to clean every two days, but without bothering us at all - and changed towels. Great value for money, and the owner and staff are very nice.

Verified reviewFriendly host, contact via telephone, key outside in a box. Clean room, shared kitchen with watercooker, microwave, no fridge here. Towels, bedlinen, own bathroom. Aircon working fine. Close to the old town, good directions in english. Nice restaurants nearby. Parking close to building. Quiet area.
Fridge very very small without freezing part. Wifi pretty bad, even after resetting the router. Bed not so comfy.

It was a little "basic". Wifi could have worked better.

Verified reviewGood value for money and good place to stay for night or two to explore the city of Alghero and near places. The place is just 5-6 minutes walk to the old town of Alghero. The room was simple, but tidy and big. Check In instructions clear and easy.
Nothing to say bad, the only thing that if you arrive with the car, there are free parking on the nearby streets, but there might be a challenge to find free space.

Verified reviewThe accomodation was perfectly cleaned. There was comfortable bed, window blind that there was absolute dark if we want. Great location close to sea and the city centre in a walk distance. Tea and coffee for free.
Really thin walls, that you can hear everything... But we had good and calm flatmate so it was ok :) There can be some holder in a shower for shampoo etc. ;)

Verified reviewThe location is great, only a 10/15 minute walk into central Alghero and within walking distance of bars, shops and restraunts. Unfortunately I do not know his name but the man who checked us in was so helpful, friendly and accomodating and even gave us plug adaptors when we had a problem with ours.
Unfortunately we found the beds to be uncomfortable and the aircon wasn't very cold but other than that everything was great.
