Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaDrinks were a bit expensive but that comes with staying at a luxury hotel
Beautifully furnished and comfortable rooms. Amazing amenities included such as pools, spa access and beach club. Great food and very friendly staff. The view was something out of this world. We much preferred staying in maiori compared to the other very busy spots on Amalfi coast

AustraliaThere was no beach club, even though it was advertised on the website (apparently a planning issue had held up its opening?)

FranceThe location is hard to get to. You have to go up a furnicular and then go up 80 steps. Lots of ants. Service is so so. They take a very long time to bring the bags up or get the car out of the garage. I wish parking was included in the price. Very expensive. The shower was clogged and the sink had issues.
The room was very nice. Comfortable bed. Nice view. Nice that they include the beach club with the very high nightly rate.

NetherlandsIf you are by car /GPS it's hard to find. Just by accident we found the entrance. Some information to the guests how to reach would be helpfull. If your mobility is less (bad knees etc) than is not the best place. You need to walk quite some steps.
The hotel is high located and only to reach by a funiculare and some stair cases. It's a very nice boutique hotel with great staff and beautifull view over the Amalfi coast. Breakfast and service was great. The pool is small but nice. As mentioned it's a small boutique hotel and your expectations should be accordingly.

United StatesThe funicular railway to get from the parking lot to the hotel was inoperable (mentioned in other reviews) for the whole of our stay. You then have to climb almost 300 steps to get to the reception area. They will bring up your cases but it would be an issue if you have any mobility issues. They do not even offer a drink or credit for the inconvenience.
The hotel location is fantastic, The view from the infinity edge pool is wonderful, The hotel is older but well maintained. The breakfast selection was great and included the choice of some hot options

CanadaThey really need to get better signage - the driveway into the hotel is actually another hotel (Pietra di Luna) which makes things super confusing especially since HBL has no signs. Cleanliness could be improved, as there were ants present on our floor. Additionally, I was excited to workout in the outdoor gym but none of the cardio equipment works / it’s in complete disrepair and the weights were so old and basically useless. we had to leave really early at 5am to drive back to Rome to catch our flight and the staff could have made things run smoother for us - the cable car had broken down (obviously not their fault) but it was pretty dark walking down all those stairs at 5am and then on top of that, confusion / miscommunication on where our car keys were (despite confirming where they would be left the night before).
Property is beautiful - the pool and all the gardens / different sitting areas are lovely. I don’t think you can find a better view anywhere else, including Positano. very fun taking the cable car up to the hotel. Our room had a large patio off of it which had an incredible view of Amalfi. Maiori is a beautiful town and while there are still great restaurants and lovely beaches, it’s much quieter / less touristy than Positano which was great. Nice to have the boardwalk along the water as well and the town is relatively flat compared to other areas of Amalfi. The staff (particularly Diego who works the downstairs reception) was absolutely lovely. Would definitely stay again if they rectify certain issues (I.e. the ant situation / cleanliness and the gym).

United StatesThis place is so wonderful but totally unapproachable for anyone with mobility issues. There are so many stairs it is a pity that there is no way to get to your room without many many stairs. The pool is so wonderful but the hours of use are too short 10-7 in the hot days, the place could provide better service for those outdoors enjoying the wonderful hotel.
The view from the hotel was so beautiful and comfort of bed wonderful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the balcony was the most picturesque and relaxing. The pool to cool off fantastic and the option to have use of chairs on the beach and towels. Having a wonderful restaurant is a high light.

United StatesOur suite was so charming with a cute loft area for our college-aged kids and an amazing view. We were only there two nights as we were traveling the coast, but the air conditioning never worked in our unit. We made it, but were very warm at times.
Breathtaking views, outstanding dining, wonderful service. Maiori is absolutely the best location on the Amalfi coast. A hidden gem. And, this is your castle on the cliff with views like no other! The charm of the village sounds, the shadows and lighting shifts over the cliffs all day long, the smells of botanical blooms and the sound of gentle waves lapping the shore can be heard from your balcony and your bed! Enjoy breakfast overlooking the water and dinner overlooking Minori. Great location, excellent staff, reasonable prices, wonderful food!

United StatesThe room was pretty beat up with lots of chipping paint and wear throughout. In general it was a great view with lots of possibility but definitely not a 5 star hotel given the condition of the rooms. It's also a very difficult to find the entrance and not described well on the website or in any communications.
Gorgeous view, great staff and very nice breakfast. If it was warmer out the pool would have been really nice.

IrelandThe hotel could be updated a bit as it doesn’t appear as a 5 star hotel, it is a bit outdated in parts of the property. I expected the service to be a bit better than what we experienced as it is a 5 star hotel also.
The hotel is beautiful, in a great location, the breakfast was lovely and the pizza from the terrace was delicious. The pool was beautiful.

United KingdomBedrooms dated and shabby and in need of decoration and refurbishment. Bedside table worn and old. Unsightly wires hanging down from TV on wall in bedroom. Bedroom was also very dark and small. Taps in bathroom watermarked and full of limescale. Food in restaurants was nothing special, and quite a few things weren’t even available on the menus.
The pool area and balcony of our room.

IrelandI am very disappointed. The room I booked was in the order of over €1500 / night. Out of 3 nights, 2 of them the A/C was broken and not repaired during our stay. Being the end of June, it is not a good service. I mentioned it during the check-out and I only got a super cold apology. I would have expected that either the A/C was repaired or that the apology for not being able to repair it on time was said first as I walked in reception for check-out. This is a 5-star establishment, it should aim for this level of service. Additionally, the SPA is super poor, only sauna and steam rooms; and the breakfast is quite limited in options. Finally, loads of ants.
Location, views, restaurant and staff were great. The communal pool and the private pool in the room are amazing. Good location and service at the beach.
