How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It is not suitable for a family of four, the room is much too small. The location is far from most major attractions but close to the Vatican.

Yes, we're near the Vatican, and Rome is really quite large to be close to every monument. Thanks again!

Verified reviewA lovely and clean hotel within walking distance of the Vatican. The hotel host provided prompt communication.
1. Weak sound insulation in the rooms: you can hear what's happening in the common area, including doors opening and closing, as well as plumbing noises from neighboring rooms. There's also a small fridge in the room that periodically turns on and makes noises. 2. Outdated information in the Q&A section and automatic messages regarding late check-in. As it turned out, check-in after 21:00 is not guaranteed and is only possible with prior confirmation. The host was kind enough to accommodate us, for which we’re very grateful, but overall it was a rather confusing experience. After completing the booking, we received mixed communications via booking: some messages reassured us about late check-in, while others warned that it might not be guaranteed.

We'd like to point out that our property is just a 7-minute walk from the Vatican Museums and 6 minutes from the Cipro metro station, a location that most of our guests find extremely convenient. Regarding cleanliness, our team has 12 years of proven experience, and we are always very careful to maintain high standards. Regarding check-in, we'd like to emphasize that, as specified in our listing, check-in is until 9:00 PM. This allows us to welcome you personally and provide all the necessary information, while also ensuring the peace and quiet of other guests during the night. We were happy to accommodate you by waiving the surcharge, despite your late arrival. Finally, regarding soundproofing, it's true that on occasion, as can happen even in the best hotels, outside noise or noise from common areas can be audible. Verified reviewThe whole property was equipped with all the appliances one might need when travelling and even more. The room was really cosy and fashionable, very clean and taken care of. Even the coffee capsules were refilled every day! The Amalia was very warm and friendly, helping us when we had questions and even arranging a taxi to go to the airport. I'd definitely stay there again on my next trip to Rome!

Verified reviewThe room was so cute! It looks like they remodeled a large apartment into a miniature hotel. The location is great, only a 8 minute walk to the Vatican and surrounded by bars and hotels. Check out the Alexanderplatz Jazz Bar. The host also gave us a list off things to do and places to eat, all of which were great.

Verified reviewThe hosts and Francesca were really lovely and friendly, they allowed us to check in early (which made a huge difference to our day after an early flight!) they also helped me set up the room for valentines and were so helpful with info about the city & local area. The bed was large and the room was a great size for the two of us. Everything was clean and nicely set up.
No huge issues at all, just consider that the location is closer to the Vatican so you'll have to metro/bus into the city for other attractions. Also the pillows were a little firm for us, but likely a personal preference! One suggestion would be to provide drinking water daily or a filtered tap in the kitchen :)

Verified reviewThe unit was immaculately clean, and a mini fridge in the room made it easy to store my fruits, salads and water. The in room tea kettle and fast internet made my stay more comfortable and convenient. The location was perfect, with easy access to attractions (Vatican), restaurants, public transportation, etc. It made exploring the area a breeze (got to get those steps in). And lastly the hosts, Nicoletta and Amalia were both a delight to meet. They offered suggestions for the area and reached out to me to make sure I was enjoying Rome and to check if I was in need of anything. This made me feel very welcomed and I appreciated this from them. Thank you both for making this an easy and tranquil stay🤗
