Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hosts were charming - nothing was too much trouble, were always readily available and their hospitality including inviting us to share a meal with them was excellent. The pool facilities and surrounding small holding were lovely.

AustraliaThere was not a single thing not to like about this place!
the facilities as well as the Tuscan style of this property were absolutely exceptional. One of the most amazing travel experiences my friends and I have had in our lives. The host and his parents were among the kindest people we had ever met and made our stay truly exceptional. A holiday we will remember forever!

CanadaCase Elena is located about 15 mins from the main town of Cortona. It is a beautiful rustic villa that has been converted into 4 large apartments that are all very tastefully decorated. We booked the 6 person unit which was plenty big enough for our family (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, very large kitchen and tv room). Upon arrival, we were greeted by Celso, the owner, who showed us around and presented us with a bottle of his homemade wine, a bottle of his homemade olive oil and a delicious cake made by his amazing wife Adrianna. Our 2-story apartment was stocked with everything you could think of. The surroundings were stunning with a large swimming pool, lots of olive and grape trees and some farm animals. Celso, Adrianna, their son Jarman and his girlfriend Vanessa are the most generous people we have ever met. They were always around making sure we had everything we needed and then invited us to have dinner with them on our last night. Adrianna gave a cooking class and taught us how to make homemade pasta (two kinds). They also made us another cake for our anniversary and gave us a bottle of champagne. The night was capped off with shots of their homemade limoncello. They believe that eating is not just a meal, it is a culture and they wanted to share that with us. We cannot express what an amazing, unique experience we had a Casa Elena.

United StatesOff the main road, you have to take a small rough dirt road to the agriturismo. It is a two way roads that's only big enough for one car. We were there for two weeks and only had to back up and out of the way one time, but it was not fun.
Being close to the old walled city of Cortona and being able to park our car next to the apartment within the agriturismo. The hosts were absolutely wonderful, kind and generous. We enjoyed dinner with them one night and they went out of their way to make us a nice homemade meal, especially for me as I do not eat meat, so they made me TWO fish dishes. That plus local pasta, dessert and wine. They speak mostly Italian, we speak mostly English with a few Italian words, a little Spanish and we communicated throughout dinner... with a little help from a translate app. The small one-bedroom apartment was all on the ground floor, only one step into the house. The wifi was very good. Bed was fairly comfortable, and the water temperature and pressure was good. The kitchen is tiny, but it worked well for us. It was the end of the season, so we were the only ones there. In high season, they have 4-5 apartments, all larger, with nice outdoor spaces, BBQ, pizza oven and a swimming pool. There is a washer (small fee to use) with Italian style hang to dry and we paid to use the heat as it was cold. The cost was 90 euros for two weeks, using it daily when we came back to warm the place up. The provided some coffee, salt, sugar, milk, a few spices, garlic, onion, a bottle of their wine and a nice welcome sweet dessert. There are chickens, a pony and the hosts have three dogs who stop by once in a while. All very friendly. They make their own wine and olive oil ... and the apartments are all in the middle of it. They have a security company who does a drive by most nights, and we felt very safe staying at Casa Elena. The apartment was comfortable, but it would be much better if they would move the cabinet to sit between the fireplace and the kitchen counter, remove the two hard chairs, and add a soft comfortable loveseat for two.
