We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The deluxe rooms are large very clean and recently renovated. The convenience of private parking is simply unrivaled. Friendly and welcoming staff. Buffet breakfast very rich and varied. United StatesWe stayed at Cinque Terre Gateway for our final night in Cinque Terre after attending a wedding an hour away, and it was the perfect choice. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and friendly. They truly make you feel at home! As a couple in our early 30s, we really appreciated the relaxed yet charming ambience. One highlight, as many other guests have mentioned, is the extreme cleanliness. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Our room was calm, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the retreat after having explored Cinque Terre. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable base to explore Cinque Terre, with genuinely lovely staff and a warm, inviting atmosphere, look no further. This place is a hidden gem. Unpretentious yet special in all the right ways. I can be quite picky with hotels, but I would absolutely recommend Cinque Terre Gateway and would happily stay again.

United KingdomWe thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Cinque Terre Gateway in La Spezia. Accommodation were lovely with modern bathrooms and comfortable beds and were very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful in planning our activities. However the highlight of our hotel stay was Michele the owner. It was great to spend time with him as he was very cordial, friendly and he was so focused on keeping us happy and pleased with his service. This hotel was perfect to use as our base to explore the Cinque Terre..truly a magical part of Italy and so easily accessible from the hotel with the train station just a minute or two walk! We lived the villages of Cinque Terre. La Spezia itself was a great place to explore with many cafes and shops close by. This was an A+ operation. Well done!!! I can’t wait to come back next year!

United KingdomJust had an amazing stay at Cinque Terre Gateway. Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, brand new bathrooms with great shower and no noise despite location at the center of the action. Very good breakfast. Location is fantastic with plenty of restaurants choices. Service is outstanding with whole team doing their best to help guests. A dream for two nights, one that makes me smile and think there are still beautiful places in the world. Very worth the money.

IrelandGreat position with down-town La Spezia a 5 stroll down a pedestrianised shopping street. Didn’t mater for me as I was driving, but the hotel is very handy for the railway station. Room was very comfortable and clean with very good A/C. Staff throughout from reception to the housekeeping team were charming and very efficient. The breakfast buffet was a lovely mixed spread with an a la carte option if you wanted, and the hostess made lovely coffee. This was the best stay we've had in 10 hotels so far on my trip in Italy. Highly recommended if you want to visit the Cinque Terre.

SwedenThe hotel is ideally located just a 2-minute walk from La Spezia Centrale train station, simply cross the street and you'll find it on the left. If you're worried about the area being noisy or sketchy, rest assured: it's quite the opposite. The hotel sits in a spacious, well-lit square with a clean and safe atmosphere. The building looks modern and well maintained, and the interiors are beautifully designed with great attention to detail. Our room was spotless and incredibly comfortable. The soundproof windows completely block out any outside noise, making for a peaceful night’s sleep. The blackout curtains are perfect for those who prefer total darkness in the morning. The amenities are exactly what you'd hope for: fast and free WiFi, an easy-to-use smart TV, and a modern shower that's simple to operate. There are several cafés, restaurants, and a supermarket just around the corner. Very convenient before heading off to explore the Cinque Terre or coming back after a day of hiking. But what really made our stay special was the staff: genuinely kind, helpful, and always available for recommendations or assistance. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcome. Whether you're staying for one night or several, this is the perfect base to explore the region. We would absolutely stay here again!

NorwayDirect next to the La Spezia Train Station, the Hotel is a family business and you could see it on all the details how they present the place. Immaculate clean, very friendly staff, comfortable bed. Breakfast Buffet very good with Italian flair. My wife and I were happy staying for four nights. Train station footsteps away and walking to dining was easy with good dining close by. I will stay here again on my next visit.

NetherlandsI am absolutely delighted with my stay at this accommodation. I chose this location to explore Cinque Terre and it was a good choice. Very nice boutique hotel with excellent location just two minutes walk from the train station yet it was not noisy and I felt safe. It was also a short walk from the centre, where there are plenty of museums, shops and restaurants and it did not take long to walk to the port either. The inviting atmosphere has provided me with a wonderful sense of comfort; my room is spacious and cozy, and the staff have been exceptionally friendly. My suite features a generous bathroom and dressing area, which adds to the overall experience. Additionally, the prime location allows for easy returns to rest between visits to the five attractions. Breakfast was plentiful. There was a great selection and something for everyone! Overall, I am thoroughly satisfied and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

NetherlandsThis hotel is breathtaking! We walked in and were immediately impressed. Our room was beautiful and the comfort cannot be beat. We enjoyed a large selection of items from the breakfast, which is included in the room price. The staff was excellent with their service. Michele, the owner, was most welcoming and greeted us each day and night in the lobby. The Staff always greeted us with warm smiles and gave excellent options for exploring the Cinque Terre coastline during the day. One of the really good things is that parking, which is hard to find in the area, was right next door. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone visiting the Cinque Terre as it is a bit quieter than stay in the villages. We will return!

SwedenWe stayed in this wonderful hotel on a road trip to Sorrento. The Cinque Terre has been on my bucket list, and I wanted to stay somewhere special. This hotel certainly was. First of all, there was a welcome letter together with bottle of Prosecco in our room. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are well equipped and spacious. The beds so comfy, the showers were the best. Breakfast at the hotel was first class, having a choice of breads, pastries, cold meats, smoked salmon and a hot option, to name just a few. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely return. One night was not enough. If you are looking for a relaxing place, with excellent hospitality, Cinque Terre Gateway is your place! I can’t wait to come back next year!

United StatesWe loved everything about Cinque Terre Gateway! We initially wondered if staying in La Spezia might be a compromise compared to staying directly in the Cinque Terre villages, but it turned out to be the perfect choice. The hotel has a refined 4-star charm — honestly, we’ve stayed in 5-star places that felt less curated. We booked a Superior King size room, and it was spacious, stylish, and impeccably clean. The comfort was outstanding. Waking up and having breakfast in such a beautifully designed space, before heading off to explore the Cinque Terre, was the perfect start to our days. The location was ideal: the train station is just a few minutes’ walk, making it super easy to reach all five villages quickly without the hassle of carrying luggage through steep alleys or stairs. In the evenings, we enjoyed walking around La Spezia's historic center, which is full of charm and great food. The person who truly made our stay special was Michele. He went above and beyond — always warm, helpful, and professional. He had great recommendations, checked in with us regularly, and genuinely cared that we were enjoying our stay. Highly recommend staying here if you want comfort, convenience, and first-class hospitality as your base for discovering the Cinque Terre.

SwedenExcellent experience! Quiet, easy to sleep well! Efficient room size with spacious bathroom, very up-to-date design. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and they gave you pods for coffee. I also found the room size to be generous by Italian standards and the bathroom had some countertop space which was so nice. Filtered water was available for refilling bottles, which I appreciated. They had great air conditioning and did not have ridiculous restrictions on the temp like so many hotels today. I was able to cool the room to a comfortable sleep temperature. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They greeted us every time we walked by, which was a nice touch. The location is just a 2-minute walk from the train station, where you can catch trains to the Cinque Terre villages. Great price point and location. I will definitely stay here again!

They organized everything we needed, and everything went smoothly. Our room was spacious with modern amenities, a large bathroom, mini bar and a good sized closet. The hotel itself is beautiful and the morning breakfast was definitely one of our favorite things! United StatesNice welcome, lovely room, very decent breakfast, close proximity to the walked city center ZTL and the train station without being actually parked inside the crowd. My husband liked the receptionist who took the booking; he sorted us out and was very pleasant. First impressions do count. The room: I am commonly regarded as lunch for mosquitoes, so I was very pleased to find the hotel has mosquito nets on their jalousie windows, (when either open or closed), to keep them out. This is a very rare provision, and very appreciated. By me. Our room was well-appointed; comfortable bed, cool cotton sheets, nice pillows, complimentary soap etc, nice shower, hot water. Room was well dressed by housekeeping. Very clean!! I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Cinque Terre.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff. Our room was modern, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. A perfect retreat after a day of exploring.
