Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic and we sat out in the courtyard to eat. The room we had was a very comfortable split level space with everything we needed, and the building itself is located in a beautiful & peaceful location overlooking the valley.

IrelandJust a small thing but - there was an emphasis on sustainability which I loved which made it strange that there were plastic cups for water in the room!
Peaceful oasis on the hills! Everyone in the Convento was so helpful and kind. The view is exceptional, overlooking the old gardens and down into the valley. Breakfast was particularly impressive with a huge range of options including local meats and cheese, all very fresh. I loved that almost nothing was in plastic compared to some of the places we stayed on our trip. I've seen other commenters disappointed in the 'upkeep' of the gardens but I'm happy to see they've turned most of the old gardens into a rewilding project for a butterfly garden. Much nicer than manicured lawns in my opinion!

United StatesThe staff went out of their way to accomodate us and make us feel comfortable. Our flight was delayed and our rental car broke down, which created a further delay. The staff was extra wonderful. The breakfast was exceptional. They are super friendly and the location is lovely.

United KingdomThe sitting area for coffee was a bit bleak and convent-like.
The lovely view from my bedroom window and the amazing limestone church attached to the convent with its incredible frescoes. Very peaceful location. We were also given the marvellous advice of a suggestion to visit the Oratory of San Pellegrino and the church of Santa Maria in nearby Bominaco. It's a hidden gem of Abruzzo filled to the rafters with very early medieval frescoes. Well worth the little detour. Thanks for this wonderful advice!

Location was ideal for exploring the amazing Gran Sasso. Staff were first class - very friendly and helpful. The gardens, which feature highly in their publicity were almost totally neglected and extremely disappointing. It turns out they are owned by the national park, not the hotel, and their upkeep is a disgrace.

GreeceWe had a great time at the Convento of San Colombo! The place itself is wonderful with its historic building, big garden, and amazing hillside views. The location is very convenient if you want to enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town, but can easily reach other villages or towns and go hiking in the mountains around. The room was spacious with a great balcony view, the beds were comfortable, and it was cleaned every day. However, the ladies working in the hotel were really the highlight of our stay, so kind and welcoming, and they made us feel right at home :) I would definitely recommend staying at the Convento and I am personally looking forward to going back someday!

SloveniaThe short unpaved drive-way from the road to the hotel would benefit from filling the holes.
This is a very special destination with potential for a small luxury hotel, located around 10 minutes drive out of the village of Barisciano. It is a place to be if you seek peace and tranquility (there is nothing else but forest anywhere near), located at just above 1000 m above sea level, which makes it a welcome escape from the heath down in the valley. The hotel is - as the name implies - indeed a former convent, superbly renovated and still showing many features of the old purpose. The room was charming and warm, nicely appointed, with little sweet balcony overlooking the valley, though the style of the bathroom did not match the overall style of the room and hotel, and the fittings in the bathroom would need replacement from technical point of view. The breakfast was luxurious, offering local cured meats and cheeses, a collection of sweet pies and pastries, several types of (mixed) fruit juices, and coffees to order. Eggs can also be ordered. The staff was genuinely pleasant and helpful, they also sent us detailed instructions to reach the hotel well in advance. A short drive up the road from the hotel there is a beautiful little village of Santo Stefano, and if you continue onwards, you will get on to a great panoramic road through the beautiful Gran Sasso national park. The hotel is also half an hour drive from the city of L'Aquila, which is worth visiting - don't miss the Basilica di Santa Maria di Collemaggio. (If you decide to go to the city, park for free at Napoli Terminal main bus station, from where a free of charge shuttle bus takes you to the historic city centre.) The guests would, in our opinion, very much appreciate a fridge/minibar in the room. The hotel does, however, offers self-service style tea-room (coffee and tea), since the hotel (I guess because of its remote location and small size) does not have staff present after 8pm.

CambodiaThe shower area was a little bit cramped, but what can you do in situations when you're in such a historical beautiful building.
The accommodation place is really beautiful and the room is very comfortable. However, one thing that they don't mention is just how breathtaking their view is from the garden. WOW WOW WOW!!! We had no idea that this region was going to be so spectacularly beautiful and wish that we had stayed longer for hiking but it just means we have to come back.
