How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful lake view and historic setting.
1.Main front door lock broken so anyone could push the door open -owner dismissive of dangerous lack of security. 2.Shower and sink not draining and not cleaned out. Filthy. 3.Owner did not inform there was a train and bus strike so we were stranded. No offer of help nor advice. 4.No curtains - just thin netting and shutters would not block out light. 5.Dirty plates and glasses left by previous guests in dishwasher- we reported the issue and still remained unclean. Broken glass in dishwasher. Lack of any clean kitchen facilities. 6.No replacement toilet roll. 7.Table and chairs on balcony old and damaged- need replacing. 8.Terrible noise from other guests at 5:30am 9. Spare pillows not wrapped - just left in dusty wardrobe. 10.Under bed not cleaned for some time. Bed thin and old - really uncomfortable. 11.Air conditioning faulty grating sounds - unable to use. Not maintained. 12.Bathroom shower head dirty with scale and drain so full of brown filth that the shower overflows. 13.Sink floods - tap loose. 14.Scruffy scuffed paintwork everywhere - all needs fresh repainting. The whole place is neglected- so sad after reading good reviews from 2 years ago. After being taken over by new owners, It feels really basic like a poor hostel, really scruffy and neglected - such a shame.

Verified reviewGreat location, fabulous view, very easy check in and good sized room.
There was some sort of pump in the bathroom, so when we used the shower or toilet it made a terrible, very loud noise. Also, the cafe where breakfast is served didn’t open at the advertised 7 am , so we had to wait u til 7:30 which was a bit worrying as we needed to leave early to catch our flight home, and when it did open we were told that we could only have a pastry and a coffee as otherwise we would go over the 5 euro limit for each person - it would have been better to know this beforehand.

Verified reviewBeautiful view, nice restaurants close. Very pretty old town.
A bit remote. There doesn't seem to be a bus to Bracciano but buses to Anguillara train station go regularly. Italian trains can be unreliable. The good thing is that there are historical sites nearby that you can visit if you get stuck there for a day.

Verified reviewpretty much a joke the cafe outside across the street your allowed $5 per person for your breakfast. The bathrooms are shared with other rooms the room is small, the shower so small you can't move, the street lights on all night with a thin cheap curtain that lets all the light in. No privacy. I've stayed in nicer places for under $20 a night
not much the lake is beautiful
You’re totally wrong as I said to you by person: - Is not an hostel but a Bed and Breakfast - Bathroom is not shared - 5€ per person for the breakfast, in Italy, are a lot of money that make you able to eat very a lot - Outside lights? Have you closed the blinds? By the way, you’re no be able neither to write pros and cons in the right textboxes so, this, say a lot on your skills like not able to read important things like checkout time, road signs and so on.

Verified reviewSuch a wonderful pre or post stay. I could write a book about this out of the way, but close to central Rome, airport or cruise port. It is truly breathtaking. Thank you to our host and to the many locals for their hospitality.
Not a thing. I relied on other websites and reviews to choose this place.

Could have served breakfast. It was included but you had to fetch yourself. Not impressed.

Verified reviewThe location is Incredible, very close to the lake with an incredible view. There is a nice terrace looking over the lake. Stefano was very friendly. Overall I would say that it was a great value for the price paid.
I had a room with a private bathroom outside of the room. It would have been great to have a mirror in the room.

Verified reviewThe views where great loved the lake , beautiful old town.the new owner Stefano great person cant do enough for you.
Suprised there was no cooked breakfast, very basic, you need to update the information you give, it is different owners they supply corn flakes, muesli, you have to supply your own food for cooking and do it yourself. Should be classed as self catering not b and b.very dated room needs a little upgrade.

Verified reviewLocation is tremendous and the view from the terrace is just like the photo.
No human contact- all done remotely and it shows. Room was not clean, there were no towels provided and the macerator in the bathroom sounded like someone running their nails down a chalkboard whilst hitting a large tin with a rolling pin.
