Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CroatiaDomus Castrense is a really nice place to stay. It’s walking distance to train station Roma Termini (10min) and also close to bus (4min) and tram (10min) stations. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Staff was really helpful if we had any questions. Would stay there again if I come back to Rome.

United KingdomEverything was good overall. The “double” bed was two single beds that were pushed together and they weren’t the most comfortable but they were fine, we both slept very well as we were so tired.
We stayed for one night to be close to the train station and it was perfect for that, a short walk to the station. The street the hotel is on is felt safe and there are lots of restaurants and cafes very close. We arrived around 10pm and the self check in was free and easy. We ate in a very nice restaurant just a few doors down that served food until midnight. The room was big and clean and the bathroom very nice. The staff were all lovely. The breakfast was good, especially for it being included in the stay and for a very reasonable price. Typical Italian breakfast, pastries, fruit, cereal and yogurt, juices, tea and coffee. There was also salami and bread rolls if you prefer something savoury.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaWe don’t have anything specific to point out that we didn’t like, but here are a few observations: 1. The rooms might not be very well soundproofed—you may hear louder conversations and, occasionally, the sound of water pipes when other guests use the bathroom at night. 2. While we understand that a sweet breakfast is traditional in Italy, our small suggestion would be to expand the breakfast selection to include something more substantial for tourists. Eggs, for example, would be a great addition, along with something savoury. If we had to highlight one thing, it would be that the breakfast options should be expanded, especially for tourists who are used to having a savoury breakfast! Everything else was truly excellent, and we highly recommend this accommodation. We are definitely coming back and wouldn’t think twice about staying here again!
The location of the accommodation is excellent. The main Termini station is about a 5-minute walk away, which is very convenient for arriving and departing to the airport, as well as catching the metro and buses if you don’t feel like walking. The city center is about 1.5-2 km away (a 20-25 minute walk). Rome is best explored on foot if you truly want to experience it. More precisely, all major locations to the west, north, and south are approximately a 25-minute walk away (Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna, Villa Borghese...). The room we stayed in was clean, and the staff changed all the towels daily, which was truly exceptional. There is also a safe in the room, which is extra handy. The bed was comfortable, and our room had a balcony, which was an added bonus. Breakfast was excellent, but for those traveling to Rome and Italy for the first time, be prepared for a sweet breakfast, which typically includes cappuccino, croissants, small donuts, jam, and butter. The hosts were very friendly and even recommended two local Hostarias / Trattorias within 100 meters of the apartment, which are considered among the best in Rome. Family tradition restaurants, with great food, not those tourists baits to pay a lot and get nothing... these are the best ! From us, it gets almost the highest rating, as everything regarding the accommodation was excellent. We would highlight the hygiene – the cleanliness of the room and bathroom was at the highest level, plus we were greeted with clean towels and toiletries every day.
