Excellent stay in a beautifully restored home in the historical center

The bed was a bit too hard but that is only because I suffer from back problems.

The beautiful rooftop terrace, the breakfast setting, the stylish room, everything was so lovely. The pool was small but so nice to read a book in!

The room was super spacious for European standards and everything was very clean. The whole hotel was very picturesque and the personnel was super friendly. Honestly, cannot think of any reason to not recommend this place!

Location a bit far from beaches. You have to do a fair bit of driving to explore things because Salento is quite spread out.

Amazing staff who could not be more helpful. Beautiful historic building with fresh modern renovations. Comfortable beds and spacious shower. Beautiful breakfasts and gardens to sit out in. A couple of very good restaurants near by. The location is a little out of the way which makes it quiet and not touristy at all and isn’t far from gallipoli which has a lot.

Don Alfonso is really a place to relax and enjoy your vacation. Very beautiful place, clean, luxurious and quiet. The staff is VERY friendly and makes the guest feel 100% comfortable. The Lady at the reception took such good care of us and even gave us a lot of tips what to visit and where to eat. The breakfast ist a very nice mix of sweet and salty, typical Italian foods. Everything is carefully chosen and the service personnel is also very friendly. Racale is not directly at the beach but there are a lot of beaches nearby, easily accessible by car. We really recommend staying there, to enjoy your stay in Salento!!

A little tricky to find.

The hotel was lovely and very accommodating for our last minute booking (after a disaster elsewhere). The rooms are equipped with everything you could need, beds very comfy and breakfast was very good! The roof terrace was a hidden gem and plunge pool was lovely to sit in and relax. We enjoyed dinner on the roof one night and the hotel provided all crockery and cutlery for us. Couldn’t fault the hotel and facilities. Just have an ongoing issue with a double charge on my card but this is in the process of being rectified and just one of those things! Definitely recommend.

The host Ericka was very friendly and provided us with all the information needed in advance. The location is excellent, very spacious and clean rooms with all the comfort you need. Excellent breakfast served in this well renovated old building. Highly appreciated.

There's no on-site parking, but I quickly realised it was very easy to find free nearby parking on the street. Not all of the rooms have been renovated but still very clean regardless.

The staff were so lovely and helpful! The breakfast was amazing! It became one of my favourite things to do.

Everything was perfect, the room was spacious and clean with own access from the street and private terrace. Besides the great architecture the staff was super friendly, funny and helpful. We love Puglia anyways and the stay made us love it even more.

We were very disappointed by the room we've been given (Deluxe Triple Room - Room no.1). Albeit it was the most expensive room of the property, it was at ground floor, facing a vandalized wall in a tight alley. The view from the only window of the room is shown in the attached picture, and the result was that this room was dark, poorly ventilated, with no privacy at all. As the only way to stay in that room was to keep always the window shut, we have asked to be accommodated in a better room. The management of the property accepted to accommodate in a smaller, much better, room, even if that was possible only for few days due to booking constraints. We accepted even if we knew this was at risk of losing the money already paid for a bigger room and a longer duration, and indeed we lost this money at the end. The description and relevant pictures on booking.com about the Deluxe Triple Room are very misleading, as there is no reference whatsoever to the position of the room and where it faces to (I think Room no.2 has the same issue). I would recommend the management of the property to add more clarity and to be more specific on how these rooms are advertised as this may create a lot of unfounded expectations and then disappointments to future clients. Again, it's a pity as the whole facility is marvellous, we've just been given the worst room.

The facilities are stunning. They are the result of a fine recovery of an ancient building, from road level to the roof top. The courtyard design and arrangement is relaxing, with a large pergola to enjoy breakfast and the shade during the hottest hours of any summer days. The staff is very kind and helpful, breakfast is of good quality and wide choice, the rooms and all facilities are very clean and in excellent conditions.
