We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. United Kingdom- The apartment was really nice and in a good location. Felt secure which was good travelling with our daughter. Just up from the beach, nice restaurants around the area, 5 or 6 minutes from the train station. Nice walks into the centre of the city. - Communication was great! We got a bit lost on the way in thanks to Google Maps but the owner kept in contact with us until we found it. - Nice touches like little Easter eggs in the room on arrival and Nespresso machine.

Everything was perfect. The room was nice and clean, we have our own bathroom and coffee machine, which is important 😁 The Host was super nice!

Czech RepublicWell I didn’t like that fridge wasn’t working.It was noisy there I had room in front of main door so I was woken up in middle of the night several times. I thought there will be shampoo, shower gel and so but there was only soap. When I left towels on floor to change I didn’t received back any or clean. Also it’s a long distance to city. And for breakfast you have to go to some cafe near. I was so disappointed because I wanted proper accommodation once and I would do better and cheaper if I get myself a hostel.

SwitzerlandWe had a bad experience renting accommodation nearby, just to end up paying for the room whose owner never picked up the phone once we were in front of the building! (airbnb) Additionally, we booked accommodation at Duchessa the same night, and the owner replied as soon as possible, let us in his building to wait until the room is ready, and helped us a lot by accommodating us at his place where we got a rest. The room and everything were great, we really enjoyed it, and we are super grateful to the owner for all the help.
