How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI liked the room, very big, new bathroom appliances, fast wifi, Patrizio let us enter a little bit earlier. He is reachable on WhatsApp even late in the night. I recommend this location.

Verified reviewThe room was lovely and clean, although the view of the building across the street was not so wonderful to wake up to each morning (this can't be avoided, of course). Patrick, the person who checked us in, was very pleasant and helpful. Easy access to all the sights of Rome. Lovely little family-run places downstairs on the street to grab a coffee, aperitif or an easy breakfast/lunch.
The exterior of the building and the entrance. We couldn't tell if this was a hotel from the outside of the building. It was very touch-and-go there for a bit. There is no lobby, no check-in downstairs....just a very old rickety elevator (enough for two people only) and a very grungy set of stairs. The hotel is actually on the third floor (felt like the sixth floor walking up those stairs). There is a sign on the door to ring for entrance, but no one answered the bell despite ringing multiple times. We waited for someone to come out of the building to gain access.
Dear William, Thank you for your kind words about the cleanliness of the room, our location, and the service provided by us. We are glad you enjoyed the local cafés and the easy access to the sights of Rome. We would like to clarify a few points. We are not a hotel but a guest house, and we have never advertised ourselves as otherwise. Our building is a historic palace of about 140 years, and while its exterior and traditional elevator may not resemble a modern hotel lobby, many of our guests appreciate the authentic Roman character it provides. The elevator can feel a bit “old-fashioned,” but it is safe and fully functional – and yes, it has always brought everyone safely to our floor. Regarding the entrance: sometimes it may take a few extra seconds for us to answer the doorbell, but we have never left a guest outside without access. We are sorry if what many consider a charming feature of staying in a historic Roman building did not meet your expectations. A little research about accommodations in Rome might have clarified that skyscrapers and modern hotel-style lobbies are not what our city is known for. We sincerely thank you again for your stay and your feedback, which helps us explain better to future guests what makes our property unique. Best regards from DVE

Verified reviewSituated relatively central in Rome and very easy to reach from the airport. We made use of the Terravision bus transport service which worked very well and dropped us at the Termini station (which is a short walk to the apartment). The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially with the check in since we only arrived at midnight. The air-conditioning in the room worked very well and was needed since we visited in the middle of summer. Perfect for a one/two night stay when visiting the city.

Verified reviewExcellent location, the metro is right outside the building and is also easy walking distance to a lot of main attractions like the Colosseum. Very good value for money since a lot of other accommodation options in Rome are expensive. Patrizio communicated well, very accommodating and gave helpful advice for our trip since it was our first time in Rome. We really enjoyed it.
The rooms are a little run down, but is expected from this beautiful heritage building. But the value you pay for the location negates this.
Dear Brendan thank you very much for your review. Kind regards from DVE

Verified reviewThe location was great, as the subway/metro was right there. Patrick assisted us in how to travel via subway to Vatican city. He was also able to arrange a taxi to the airport as well. The taxi was a flat rate. Patrick was very friendly and helpful. The only challenge was knowing how to get into the hotel when we arrived. There was a sign.. but was unsure what code to use to get into the building. Thank you so much Patrick. We throughly enjoyed our time in Rome. We could walk to the Colosseum and to many landmarks in Rome.

Verified reviewI chose this accommodation as a base for running the Roma Marathon and spend few days visiting the city with mum and dad. It was the best choice I could have made. Clean, super location close to metro station of line A. The host Patrizio is professional and nice.
Nothing to declare hehe maybe the entrance at the ground floor of the building can put you a little bit off but do not be too quick to judge the book from the cover. The accommodation is high level

Verified reviewthe location was perfect, just a 20min walk to the coliseum and right outside the metro! there was also a couple of bars and cafes right next door and some really good restaurants around. Check in process was very smooth and quick and we where able to get in early which was great! The host was lovely and even though we had quite a lot of problems we were able to communicate easily.
We had issues with our key card not working straight away and had to wait for it to be replaced however that wasn’t anyone fault. Secondly, on our second day the door to our room broke and we had to leave our stuff unattended and room open as we had a booking we couldn’t miss, after being out all day we returned and the door was still being fixed and we weren’t moved to another room and had to wait whilst workers where working in the room. It was a shame as we had a full day out and had a very early flight the next day and just wanted to relax in the room before travelling however we couldn’t! also a little bit disappointed and stressed as we had to leave all of our stuff unattended.
Dear Sara, the key card can broke sometimes, it happens; why do not you write that after 20 minutes I was again at DVE to replace it? Why don't you write I gave you 2 key cards but you forgot one in your room? It is true the door hinge broke but I called the assistance immediately, they came in 2 hours and they needed about 1 hour to fix it; but why don't you write your stuff was not unattended because someone was here while you were outside? However the carpenter finished the job at 19:30, 30 minutes after your arrival. You were not moved in another room because there wasn't an available room. As you can see all issues (and I'm sorry for that) were resolved very quickly. And why don't you write you left very early in the morning, not informing previously, and 'forgot' to pay something?

It was a little bit dusty, but overall it seemed very clean otherwise.
Dear Andrea, thank you for your review. It is possible that you found a light layer of dust because after cleaning we always leave the windows open to let fresh air into the rooms. Best regards from DVE

Verified reviewThe host was very friendly and the room design is nice, high ceiling with a fresca, the bathroom is newly furnished. The bed was comfortable. Instant coffee, tea, watter cooker are available in the room. Location is good, right at the metrostation.
Bathroom could be cleaner eventhough it was not dirty. The room is relatively smaller than it looks in the photo. A nesspresso machine would have enhanced my experience. Several locals told us not to wonder around the Termini/ Vitorio Emanuelle neighborhoods at night, as they are not very safe. We did not experience anything bad but made sure to return home at 9pm. With the window open, the room is very noisy from 5am onwards.

Verified reviewI've never stayed in a room with higher ceilings before. It was a truly remarkable experience! The park nearby is a great place to relax and enjoy the company of the chattering parrots. The host is friendly and helpful, and the place was comfortable and convenient enough.
The only downside are the older window frames in the building, which affect the soundproofing and insulation of the rooms. The central heating works well in the cold weather, but there's noise from the nearby street, even at night. Italians often use their horns, so it's not just the tyres on the pavement that can be heard.
