How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed at Elements as part of our summer holiday across Rome and Croatia. We will definitely be back! The apartment was excellent with fantastic facilities and a home from home feel. The apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Two bathrooms helped with a family of five and Netflix on the TV helped after a long day of exploring and walking. The location was excellent and within about half an hour walking distance of most sites (we took an UBER to get to Vatican City which would have been about an hour walk away) The apartment was close enough to the main city to be accessible to the main streets but further away enough to be quiet and peaceful. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and we slept so well! One of the most impressive things was the communication we had from Elena who was so helpful, even before we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very supported in visiting a new city. Highly recommended.
I am so happy, I try to do my very best to make my guests feel safe and at home, thus leaving their intimacy, and it is so satisfying when people understand and appreciate my efforts ❤. Come back soon, take care!

Verified reviewPhenomenal Stay – Highly Recommended! Our stay at the Elements apartment in Rome was absolutely incredible. The location is phenomenal – close to everything, yet quiet and comfortable. The apartment itself is beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and exceptionally well equipped, making it super convenient for our family. What truly made our experience unforgettable was Elena herself. She is beyond amazing – incredibly kind, helpful, and accommodating, always going out of her way to assist us with anything we needed, even things unrelated to the apartment. We felt so comfortable and welcomed that we booked another night with her when we returned to Rome, and it was just as perfect the second time around. If you're coming to Rome, don't miss the chance to stay here. It truly felt like a home away from home.
Dear both, you are the best! Thank you for your kind words and for dedicating your time to write such nice comments, it has really been a pleasure to have met you and I hope to see your amazing family again soon! Take care!

Verified reviewcentral location, the host was very gracious, responsive and warm, made the process of early check-in smooth
a few basic would have helped like Kitchen towel, but it was not a deal breaker
I will double check that the maid never forgets the kitchen towels, they were supposed to be there, thank you for telling me!

Verified reviewAmazing start to our 2 week trip to Italy! The hostess Elena was so helpful and always available for anything we needed. We arrived before check-in and she came early to give us the tour of the facility and allowed us to store our bags there. The building itself is very easy to find/access and has a classic european vibe. Good AC and bonus points for the mineral/sparkling water that comes right from the tap! The location is perfect because it's close enough to be in walking distance to a lot of attractions like Trevi Fountain, Vatican City, etc. and Roma Termini station but far enough that it is not bogged down with so many tourists. Great nearby food options as well. Will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Rome.
The only recommendation I will give to people who stay in Rome in the middle summer is you will be tempted to leave your window open at night for the cool air but we got a lot of mosquitoes in our room when we did that - we didn't think they could fly all the way up to the 6th floor to find us but they surely did lol, so I suggest opening the window in the morning and closing at night and just using the AC at night.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for noticing all the details (in particular the sparkling water from the tap, I am very happy you appreciated it)! To be honest I was shocked by the mosquitoes, last year in fact on our 6th floor there were no mosquitoes, they became stronger and fly higher!!! I am in the process of getting quotes to install mosquito nets so this problem will soon be solved! The rooms are equipped with air conditioning but the weather in Rome is generally mild and it is a shame not to think about the planet and turn it on all the time! See you soon, I hope!

Verified reviewThe room was in a shared apartment, sharing facilities with another room, which was not what we wanted. The Booking.com description didn't make this obvious, it didn't mention it, and so it wasn't an accurate listing. It should have been marketed very clearly as a shared apartment vs private accommodation. Location was good and the beds were comfortable.
In order to secure the private apartment, we had to pay extra money directly to the host.

Verified reviewThe location was amazing. Easy access to the Metro right by. I was traveling so and I walked to the Coliseum from here (it was super hot) and stopped into a gelateria, some shops, etc., along the way. Elena, the host, is truly wonderful. She allowed me to check in a bit early and couldn't be nicer. Next day, she asked if I needed anything. True class! I will 💯 be staying here on my next visit to Rome! P.S. it is very quiet and peaceful in the room. It was also so clean, I could eat off of the floor if I so chose.
Elizabeth, thank you for noticing all these details, I put a lot of effort in order to give my guests the best experience! Take care and hope to see you soon again!

Verified reviewAwesome place! Great location, very clean, lovely design, had everything we needed. Elena was super nice and helpful.
Old elevator that can only hold 4 people at a time and the apartment is on the 6th floor. We still enjoyed our stay.
You are right about the elevator, but, as we are in an historical building, at least we have one! :) Anyway, the building is being restored, hopefully also the elevator will be improved. I hope to see you again!

Verified reviewThe property was conveniently and centrally located, near to lots of the main attractions and Repubblica Metro station. The property was clean, and well furnished.
The shared living space. We would not have booked had we understood that the room we stayed in shared the living space with another room within the same apartment. In hindsight, whilst an attempt has been made to address this following previous reviews, all rooms should unambiguously where the living space is shared. This is a personal preference, and we recognise that others will enjoy this aspect, we did not.
I am sorry Mark mostly because we spoke a lot and we put extra effort in making you feel confortable and you said many times that everything was ok, and I think that 7 is not fare for what you had. Anyway, the descriptions are made by Booking, I will ask to make it clearer, thanks

Verified reviewBad experience: unprofessional host and misleading conditions It’s unfortunate that such a beautiful and well-located property is paired with such poor hosting service and a complete lack of empathy. The purpose of this type of accommodation should be, above all, to ensure the rest and well-being of travelers. As tourists, we need a comfortable and welcoming space to recharge and enjoy the country we are visiting. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. My stay at this place was very unpleasant due to the behavior of the host, Mrs. Helena. Air conditioning was listed as included on Booking, yet upon arrival, we were denied access to it with absurd excuses. Despite heavy rain, Helena rudely told us to “just open the windows” and use mosquito repellent, completely disregarding the discomfort caused by the heat and humidity. Additionally: ✔ Delayed check-in: The apartment was handed over to us late, even though we had confirmed our arrival time. We were also charged an extra €20 in cash for an early check-in that never happened. ✔ Misleading listing: The listing made the place seem like a fully private space, but it’s actually a shared apartment—something we found deceptive. ✔ Disrespectful attitude: Her behavior was arrogant and lacked any empathy, prioritizing her own comfort over the needs of her guests. The listing does not match what was offered on Booking, and the entire experience felt like a scam. I absolutely do not recommend this place and strongly advise others to avoid it to prevent going through a similar situation.
The most overbearing, unpleasant, rude and conceited people I have ever met! Snooty illiterates who severely tested my patience even in the ordinary check in, simply according to the law! Despite the fact that everything is clearly spelled out and that Italian and local law restricts the use of air conditioning when not necessary (text I also bothered to send you), you demanded and insisted and insisted that I contravene the law for you with 17 degrees outside! Check in is from 3 p.m., I politely offer to leave luggage from 12 p.m. (when previous guests leave the house) for an extra of 20€ (someone has to work extra hours and come to meet you) and you arrogantly showed up at 9 a.m., stressing my doorman! You brought strangers into the house (which is forbidden) and massacred me with text messages about anything. What's more, you allowed yourselves to buzz my house at 3:30 a.m. for no reason other than to annoy me! I have reported your aggressive and rude behavior to Booking and hope to never meet you again in life!
